Lucketts Eve

I’ve been having a few technical difficulties this evening, so I posted some of these pictures and this information on Facebook and Twitter already.  It’s getting late and I know 5:15 am is going to come very quickly, so I’m going to keep this brief. Today was about all of the last minute details like making “sold” tags.  It’s one of those things that won’t make me any money and some people might not care about, but I think it just looks nice to have cute sold tags. So, if you see a craft tag tied on with a red and white string on a piece, you know it’s sold.  (I’m selling some of this string tomorrow, too.) Speaking of sold, here’s a look at the custom sign I made for Jami of Freckled Laundry.   She requested a lavender sign and this is what I came up with. See?

Packing for Lucketts & Giveaway

Today we loaded all of the things I’ve been shopping for and working on for weeks.  Here are some of the pieces we packed… This is my mom’s favorite dresser.  We actually have a three-way wager going on which dresser will sell first.  We’ll see who’s right… Here’s the channel-back chair.  I must say, this is a piece I patted myself on the back for.  I was actually giggling as my mom and I finished the cushion last night  and set it in place.  I couldn’t believe that I did that! Here’s the French settee… …and some other things… I just finished this dresser today and I shared a snapshot on my Facebook page and it blew up! (In the figurative, social media definition of the word.)  It was so fun to see the positive reaction, especially when this was a piece I really struggled on (hence finishing it at

Before and Afters

Say hello to “Dried Lavender”

As I’ve mentioned a couple of times, there are a lot of new things I’m working on behind the scenes.  One of those things is new colors for the milk paint line!  Well, Lucketts is the perfect time to test out those colors “in the real world” on a piece of furniture, so I’ve been doing a lot of “testing”!  Here is the first new color I’m introducing… Dried Lavender The names of my paint colors are all inspired by things I love or use in my home, so Dried Lavender fit perfectly.  I’ve sold it out of my space at Lucketts for years…   …and it’s in some of my more famous pictures… When milk paint customers and retailers started asking me for a purple, I knew immediately this is the direction I would go.  I mean, I’m not really a purple person, so a grayish, smoky purple is about

Some of “my” things that I’m selling…

For some reason, I am in a huge purge mood this year as I’m getting ready for Lucketts.  I’ve been grabbing things I’ve had and loved for years and I’m tagging them without hesitation.  I think I’m learning that I will always find something new that I’m excited about and I’ve probably kept too much stuff along the way.  I’ve kept some things to use for photo shoots, but I always end up using the latest and greatest thing I’ve found.  So, now it’s time to send some of those things along to a new home.  Here are some of “my” things that I’m taking to Lucketts to sell… The peanut scale… My dining room table (it comes with six chairs and one leaf.)  The top is lighter now, since I refinished it and all of the seats are upholstered in antique grain sacks.  AND I have a bamboo mat,

Shopping Day for Lucketts & a Twitter Party

I took a step away from the painting and sanding and upholstering to do a bit of shopping for Lucketts.  Once I got the boys off to school, I got my P90X workout out of the way, showered, ate breakfast and packed a healthy lunch to take with me. (Balance, remember?)  I went to one of my favorite local shops… (The beverage cart was on hold for someone else, but I bought this stool…) …and then I went to an antique mall I had never been to before.  AWESOME!!  This place was huge and it took me about three hours to get through.  Towards the third hour, I was getting “antique mall eyes” where it was hard for me to see anything in the booths.  I had made a huge mess of a pile at the register and filled my van with all sorts of goodies.  Thanks so much to

Random Thoughts About Lucketts

It’s crunch time.  It’s 10:00 at night and I’m just coming up from the basement to work on this post.  As usual, I had some grand plans for my post today, but the late hour and a body that needs sleep made me change my mind, so I thought I would just share some random thoughts as I’m getting ready for the fair.  (It seems like the random posts get the most response, anyway!) I always get stressed out when I’m getting ready for the Lucketts Antique Market.  Every year I say that I need to start getting ready 6 months in advance, but that never happens.  I’m like a college student pulling a week of all-nighters in order to pass.   Despite the stress, I always feel inspired as I’m painting and pricing and shopping and pulling it all together.  I seem to work best under the pressure. I
