Furniture Feature Friday

I can’t believe that I totally forgot FFF again!  I was very focused on things I needed to do before my trip and I lost track of the day of the week and posted something else.  Well, FFF is usually posted on a Thursday, so this week, we’re having FFF truly on a Friday! I’ll be more on top of things next week, hopefully, and will have some favorites for you again. Here are the rules for our furniture get-together… 1.) Your post has to be about furniture. Please, please, please…just furniture. If you find your link has been deleted, it’s not because I’m mean, it’s because your post was not about furniture. You can share makeovers, awesome finds, favorite pieces, furniture arrangements, or even pieces on your wish list! Built-in furniture like kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities qualify as furniture. 2.) Post a permalink (the link to the post),

My mom and I went out shopping today, but I have to say I was pretty blurry-eyed after shopping all day yesterday with Kriste.  You would think that shopping for antiques would be something I wouldn’t grow weary of, but I’ve learned that I need it in doses or everything starts to blend into the cacophony of stuff lining the shelves and crowding booths.  I did find some good things today, though, including a few more chairs for the studio, a couple pieces of ironstone and a few other things.  I get the keys to the studio tomorrow and I can’t wait to start moving in!  I’ll snap some pictures tomorrow. And now, here are my favorites from last week… I’ve been digging pine furniture more and more these days, so I love this cupboard shared at Gracie Blue.  The paneling on the door and hardware making this piece so

Hello, all!  I did have a chance to pick favorites tonight.  Yay!  I really needed the chill time on the couch after packing look books all day.  My back is letting me know.  Anyway, the black pieces tonight were catching my eye, so I decided to feature these black beauties… This buffet by Danielle of Antique Recreation is simple, classic and pretty.  It was a little wild when she bought it, but she “Danielle-fied” it, which made it a lot more sophisticated.  I think the white doors as a backdrop makes it pop as well. I love pieces in the style and scale.  I actually have one almost exactly like it, except mine’s painted an off white.  It was great seeing it in a black with the rich wood peeking through by Custom Comforts. Lastly, I think this piece by Zoey’s Uber-Chic Loft is really cool.  Leaving parts of the design wood

I didn’t pick favorites tonight and I have a good reason.  It was my youngest son’s 6th birthday.  We were eating pizza, Batman cake and ice cream and I was the piece finder for his new Lego set.  I then cuddled with him.  He started crying as he was brushing his teeth and I asked him what was wrong.  Between sobs and big, sad tears he shared, “I’m so sad that my birthday is almost over!”  So, of course, we had to snuggle and talk about how great his birthday was. Good reason to miss picking favorites, right? I’ve already enjoyed one party, but I’m ready to enjoy another.  Link away… Here are the rules for our furniture get-together… 1.) Good evening, all!  I thought yesterday was Thursday and it was freaking me out.  I had my week planned out and I suddenly found myself way behind and totally in the weeds.  I didn’t know how I was going to get it all done.  Jeff finally informed me that it was only Wednesday.  Whew!  All was right with the world and I wasn’t as over-committed as I thought I was. So, now that today is Thursday, here is FFF and my favorites from last week… I love this simple, well-styled desk by Denise of Pink Postcard.  And, cross-my-heart, I picked this as a favorite and then noticed she used my paint for it.  The styling caught my eye before the paint did! I have a soft spot in my heart for little stools.  They are so multi-functional and sweet at the same time.  Kathy from Past, Present & Patina turned an

Good evening all.  Again, there were some great makeover this week!  I think the furniture makeovers are in full swing this time of year, so there are a lot of great things to choose from.  Here are my favorites from last week’s shindig. I think this butler’s pantry by Emily of Eleven Gables is such an amazing, luxurious space.  I love the idea of making a utilitarian space pretty and functional.  You have to check out the post to see all of the details that make this space super organized.  The chandelier puts it over the top. Rita from The Treeces got this amazing (and huge) dining table from an auction house for $5.00.  Yes, that’s right.  That is a pretty stinkin’ awesome furniture find and it looks great with those metal chairs and the Market sign. This buffet by Rita of Ferpie & Fray is so bold, yet classic.  I

I found some really great features for you tonight.  There were a lot of great ones, but these three were no-brainers for me to feature.  Enjoy the party! This pair of “map cabinets” actually started life as modern laminate side tables.  I had to do a double-take, because it was hard to believe how they started and where they ended up.  I love Kristine’s work on the Painted Hive and her style and she really nailed these. I’ve seen versions of these before, but I love this one made by Liz Marie.  I think this is such a clever piece to use as a side table or in a tight spot where floor space is at a premium.  It’s also a nice way to add lighting without getting into hardwiring. I’m going to be totally honest with this one and say that mid-century modern furniture is not my thing.  BUT…this

I had a lot of conference calls, administrative duties, e-mailing, etc. to take care of this week, which is necessary, but it sometimes bogs me down.  So, today I took some time to work in my basement on furniture.  I’ll show the pieces I was working on in a few days, but I spent the bulk of my time on the phonograph I picked up in a furniture lot I bought for Lucketts.  The phonograph was sort of an add on, but it was the piece I wanted most. I’ve wanted one for years, but couldn’t take the $400 price tag on something that was just for my amusement.  This one had a lot of water damage.  The wood was dry and the finish was flaking, but it was still in working condition and I knew I could give the TLC it needed.  The bottom 12-18″ of the veneer on all sides
