Furniture Feature Friday

Well, I had an unexpected opportunity come up this week.  Tomorrow, I am heading to New York City for the day to do an interview on FOX about my blog, upcycling and Pinterest.  It’s always so surprising to me where this journey has taken me (and continues to take me.)  Kriste and her husband are coming with me to make sure I get where I need to be (traveling to the city is a little intimidating to me) and I’ll make sure to take some pictures and let you know when the segment will air.  I never know where opportunities like this will lead, but I view it as an adventure and just embrace it.  So, if you think about it, say a little prayer for us as we’re traveling. I need to get to bed early tonight, so I’m rested for the long day, but I did get some favorites selected.

So, there was a bit of a misunderstanding last week when I had Jessica from Dear Emmeline as a guest picker for me.  The post went live automatically before I had the chance to write an introduction for her, so some readers thought I was talking about my girl’s room (which I only have two boys) and were wondering if there was a new addition to our family that they missed!  I think we got it all cleared up.  No girls.  Not pregnant.  That was Jessica talking about her daughter. Anyway, I am finally feeling a bit rested up and ready to get back into my routine after the push to get ready for the Chapel Market.  Although, this week hasn’t been all rest.  I cleaned the house and couldn’t help but start working on the boy’s room, which may or may not have included a day of painting and moving

We spent the day driving down to Alabama for the Chapel Market.  It was amazing, but we were able to fit everything  in a 4 x 8 open trailer, a minivan and a little overflow in Kriste’s Civic.  I’m pretty impressed with ourselves that we made it work!  And prayers carried our van with 202,000+ miles on it, towing a loaded trailer, here safely.  So, tomorrow is set up day and I’ll also be hanging out with some friends.  I’m hoping to have time to do some decorative painting for Layla (and tour her house) and spend some good time with Shawnna.  She’s become one of my dearest friends and I wish we lived next door to each other. Anyway, tonight’s about furniture, so let’s get to it.  Since I am busy with Chapel Market this weekend, I’ve asked Jessica from Dear Emmeline to pick favorites for me and she obliged.  Here’s

I’ve been working away on furniture myself this week, for the Chapel Market, so it’s been nice to take a little break and get some inspiration from last week’s links.  Here are a few of the standouts… Danielle from Finding Silver Pennies gives a fall tour of her home and there are so many beautiful pieces of furniture that I just had to share.  I especially love this wooden bench with the buffalo check cushion. I love vintage canvas laundry baskets, but it’s sometimes hard to figure out exactly what to do with them.  They’re not as pretty, but the lightweight plastic variety we have these days is just more convenient to use.  Kathy from Past, Present & Patina  turned one into a side table with amazing results!  That’s it.  A vintage canvas laundry basket just made my list. Lastly, this sweet dresser by Kara from Lilac Shack Furniture caught

My brain is totally fried tonight!  I did the photo shoot today and it was intense.  I know that sounds silly, but we had only a few hours to style and shoot seven rooms, which is a lot when every shot needs to be meticulously examined for a rogue accessory, a lamp cord dangling in view or the reflection of my boots in the glass of a cabinet.  It was a little stressful, but so fun as well.  Kriste came with me and she was worth her weight in gold.  She was money, as they say.  Heather, the home owner was such a delight and so relaxed about us messing her house up as we worked from room to room dropping eucalyptus seeds and Japanese maple “helicopters” all about.  It was a good day, but the bed is calling my name.  Before I hit the hay, here are my favorites

Good evening, ladies!  I have been a little under the weather with a cold since my Toronto trip, so I’ve spent two whole days in bed, if you can believe that!  I watched a lot of Netflix and did some computer work, but I was generally useless.  I think the need for two days in bed has more to do with me just being worn out than the cold, since I’m not really that sick.  I’ve just needed some rest and time to relax.  I was still dragging a bit today, but had more energy and was excited to get in the studio.  I’m so glad I went in today.  Kriste and I worked on photo shoots and painting more furniture for the Chapel Market and the studio.  Jeff worked on building more rolling walls that will be used as dividers and photo shoot backdrops.  It was productive and fun

Good evening, all!  I’m finally back from Toronto and seem to be in more of a routine, since I actually remembered FFF this week AND picked favorites!  I know…high five!  I did get a scolding from a reader a few weeks ago for forgetting about it, but if she walked into my studio, she would understand how I could get a little overly-focused on it and forget other things.  Thanks to Kathleen for picking favorites for me last week while I was away and to all who participate and enjoy the party each week. Here are the favorites I selected… I love this entire nursery featured on Custom Slipcovers by Shelley.  She was showcasing her work on sweet ruffle-skirted chair, but the entire room is coming together beautifully. Of course I love this blue & white living room by Karen of Shabby Sweet Cottage, but the real work of genius is

Hi MMS readers! Kathleen here from Between blue and yellow. So happy to be helping Marian pick favorites this week while she is in Toronto. So here we are with my first favorite.  This beautiful piece from Q is for Quandie, is painted a classic black but I love how she left a few details natural wood.  That little mirror on the back just adds to it’s character. My next favorite is this beautifully, feminine piece Anita painted for her daughter at Far above Rubies.   I just adore the color and the hints of gold in the distressing. And then there is this genius solution, from The Heathered Nest, for disguising those strange bump outs in her daughters room.  These beautiful shelves that her Pop built make this room even more outstanding than it already was. Great work ladies! Here are the rules for our furniture get-together… 1.) Your post has
