Furniture Feature Friday – A Link Party

Sorry I’m a little late for FFF tonight.  Not quite as late as last week, but I was scrambling to put the post together at the last minute.  I have been fiddling around with the MMSMP site to get things looking a little bit fancier and lost track of time.  Anyway, here are my favorites from last week… I love this mustard chest by Estuary.  I like a lot of Meg’s stuff it seems!  She’s just a talented gal. I am also in love with this French bench by Kim of Savvy Southern Style.  I think I may have featured this bench this first time Kim shared it but I love it even more with a makeover of Typewriter MMS Milk Paint.  I am a little biased, though! Lastly, I think this outdoor space by Mt-Tails is heavenly.  My yard and deck are so pathetic and I would love a

Master Bathroom & About My Upholstery Skills

Now that Lucketts has past, I’m turning some attention to my next round of freelance projects, which includes giving my master bathroom a makeover.  (Insert girly squeal that occurs when makeovers are on the horizon.) So, this is the direction I’m heading…   It’s right off of the bedroom, so I want it to flow with what I have going on in there…   Here are some pictures of my bathroom that I dug up from the archives.  It basically looks the same today, except I changed the wall color and the mirror.  Sorry for the crummy photos.   Would you believe I have never painted that vanity or even replaced the knobs?!  I know…so unlike me!  I have basically written this room off.  It’s not worth trying to work around the almond fixtures, pinkish linoleum and things that are fine, but just not me. Since the bathroom is small (one sink,

Happy Ending & French Settee Makeover

A few weeks ago, my mom called me, excited about a message that was on my Facebook page.  “Did you see the comment from Albert Crombie’s family?”  I had to think a minute.  From who?  Oh yes!  The bag!!  As soon as I was at a computer, I looked at the comment. “Hi! I just saw a post from your blog back in Aug. 2011 about a WW1 mail pouch you found at a yard sale. It was my grandfather’s, Albert Lufkin Crombie! My dad was his only child. Do you still have it?” If you’ve read my blog for a while, you may remember this mail pouch that I acquired almost two years ago…   At a YARD SALE!  For $10.00!!!  I wasn’t sure what I would do with it, but I felt like I needed to buy it and try to find the family it belonged to.  I

Furniture Feature Friday – Better late than never…

Today I was working on some photo shoots and stopped for a few minutes to check my e-mail.  There was one from my mom.  “Did you forget about FFF?  Doesn’t it post on Thursday nights?” Well, yes I did.  Sorry about that everyone.  I’ve been in a bit of a post-Lucketts mode, which involves getting caught up on everything else and I totally forgot about FFF.  I figured it was better late than never, so link up if you have something to share.  Hopefully I’ll have my act together next week! Here are the rules for our furniture get-together… 1.) Your post has to be about furniture. Please, please, please…just furniture. If you find your link has been deleted, it’s not because I’m mean, it’s because your post was not about furniture. You can share makeovers, awesome finds, favorite pieces, furniture arrangements, or even pieces on your wish list! Built-in

If you find your link has been deleted, it’s not because I’m mean, it’s because your post was not about furniture. Say hello to “Dried Lavender”

As I’ve mentioned a couple of times, there are a lot of new things I’m working on behind the scenes.  One of those things is new colors for the milk paint line!  Well, Lucketts is the perfect time to test out those colors “in the real world” on a piece of furniture, so I’ve been doing a lot of “testing”!  Here is the first new color I’m introducing… Dried Lavender The names of my paint colors are all inspired by things I love or use in my home, so Dried Lavender fit perfectly.  I’ve sold it out of my space at Lucketts for years…   …and it’s in some of my more famous pictures… When milk paint customers and retailers started asking me for a purple, I knew immediately this is the direction I would go.  I mean, I’m not really a purple person, so a grayish, smoky purple is about

Furniture Feature Friday – Link Party & Kathleen’s Favorites

As you know, I’m busy getting ready for Lucketts AND I’m participating in a HomeTalk Twitter Chat tonight (I hope you join in), so Kathleen from Between Blue & Yellow has picked favorites for me again.  Here they are…  This old dresser got quite the makeover from Kathy of Petticoat Junktion.  I love the teal blue with the creamy white. And the distressing gives it that perfectly “beachy look”. I absolutely fell in love with what Angie  from Knick of Time did with her cabinets. She used old ceiling tiles to add character to her cabinet doors. Great idea to add special interest to any kitchen. And check out this stunning redo of an old secretary.  Pam  of Simple Details really knows how to bring an out dated piece into this century.  You can never go wrong with classic black. Thanks for the picks, Kathleen! Here are the rules for
