Furniture Makeovers

Furniture Feature Friday – Favorites & a Link Party

Well, I’m back on the road again today.  My niece has the lead roll in a play and that’s a good excuse to pay some family a short visit.  I’ll be back to preparing for Lucketts next week, but I get a bit of a break from the sanding, painting, pricing and shopping.  (Well, maybe I’ll try to squeeze in some shopping…)  I did have some time to browse the entries from last week, though,  and pick some favorites.  Here they are… I love this primitive piece enhanced with a wood planked top added by Ally from Home by Ally.  I’m also digging her take on the paper wreath.  Very whimsical.   This Anthropologie inspired dresser by Redoux Interiors is a great example of how terrible a paint finish can look when it’s in process and then how amazing it can look when it’s all done.  (I hope everyone reads

Craigslist Dresser & Eulalie’s Sky

I am in major shopping mode for the Lucketts Antique Market, which is just over two weeks away!  Yikes!  So, I was cruising craigslist.com last night and found this beauty right in my own back yard.  (Well, not literally.)  My dad picked it up for me today and she is a beauty. Most pieces I buy are pretty rough, but this one is in perfect condition. It’s so beautiful, that I’ve decided to keep it for my guest room and I’m going to sell this one instead… That’s how it goes around here.  Out with the old and in with the older! I also wanted to give a sneak peek of some smaller pieces I painted for the fair in one of my new MMS Milk Paint colors…   I’m going to be introducing six new colors and will paint a dresser with each of them, as I did with

Furniture Feature Friday – Jessica’s Favorites & a Link Party

I spent the day traveling to Long Island, New York where I’m working with a group to help clean up and rebuild after Hurricane Sandy.  They have an overwhelming amount of work that needs to be done still about seven months later.  I brought my camera, so I’ll share some pictures of the work we’re doing. Before we get to FFF, I want to give a special shout out to a place that has earned my affections today.  This is probably TMI, but if you’ve ever driven through an urban area and drank a bit too much water prior to doing so, you know how hard it can be to find a restroom or even an exit that leads to a restroom.  So, after about a hour of driving through NYC traffic, I was about ready to burst and cry.  We finally took an exit in Queens, hoping to find a place

Furniture Feature Friday – Favorites & a Link Party

Good evening everyone.  Before we get going on our furniture festivities, I want to say thanks for all of your supportive comments on Tuesday’s post.  It really does mean a lot to me to know I have cheerleaders and girls who are going to hold me accountable.  I will definitely keep you updated! Now for FFF.  Here are my favorites from last week… I picked this dresser as a favorite before I saw that it was painted with MMSMP Shutter Gray with Hemp Oil finish on the top.  Seriously.  Mimi of Blue Roof Cabin was dealing with a piece that had chipping veneer, so she just removed it and hand planed the top.  I love the look of the exposed and rustic wood.  It was a big gamble that paid off.   I love this sheet music dresser by Deb from Twice Nice.  She used the sheet music dresser I

Furniture Feature Friday – Link Party

Well, today I turned the big three-five.   It was a quiet day that I spent catching up on e-mail and doing a bit more shopping.  I found a bunch of great ironstone…happy birthday, indeed!  🙂  I had a very nice dinner with my husband, parents and in-laws at a beautiful 1776 tavern in Gettysburg called The Dobbin House.  I even got a fudge brownie a la mode with a sparkler on top.  Due to these festivities, I didn’t have a chance to pick favorites for the week.  Sorry!  Maybe I should have a “guest picker” sometime when I’m busy…hmmm…   Here are the rules for our furniture get-together… 1.) Your post has to be about furniture. Please, please, please…just furniture. If you find your link has been deleted, it’s not because I’m mean, it’s because your post was not about furniture. You can share makeovers, awesome finds, favorite
