I’m just getting in from enjoying the beautiful Collegiate Peaks in Colorado, so I’ve asked our MMS Milk Paint Primary Educator, Abbe Doll, to share a tutorial with you. I haven’t had a chance to shoot or write a tutorial on using Wax Pucks, one of our new products, so Abbe, who is a machine, made one for me! Enjoy! Let me just start by saying I love this little thing! It fits so perfectly in the palm of your hand and creates such fun effects. Name that color…

***After over 2200 suggestions, I have picked a name for our new color. Thanks so much to all who played along and the name will be announced very soon! *** We recently added three colors to the MMS Milk Paint line and now we’re adding three more! Trophy (a rich gray), Curio (a walnut brown) and this one… It’s a lovely coral color created by Abbe (our Primary Educator) and Jennylyn (president of Homestead House Paint Company). Now, if you know me at all, you know that I don’t have a bit of coral in my house, so this color is a bit out of my comfort zone, but I can’t have an entire paint line with just blues and grays! Since this color is out of my wheelhouse, I am stumped when it comes to naming it and I need your help! Share your suggestions for naming this color

Laura from The Ironstone Nest accepted the invitation when I extended it and, when she turned in this blog post, I was blown away. This is as close to a MMS Milk Paint workshop that you’ll get in a written blog post. Even I learned things about my own paint line reading it and am excited to try some of her techniques. Haven Advanced Painting Workshop “Recipes”

I recently taught the Advanced Painting Workshop with my very good buddy, Shaunna of Perfectly Imperfect, at the Haven home blogger’s conference. We had a blast and I think it may have been my favorite class ever. In the two hour hand’s on workshop, we taught three paint techniques. Being an advanced class, they were pretty complicated treatments with multiple steps, so I promised I would share the “recipes” on my blog. Before you set out to try these techniques, I want to remind you (or make you aware) of something – you can follow these steps exactly and still achieve a very different look. I wish you could see the variety at each table. The colors were the same, the sample board was the same, the steps were the same, but the end result was different. My boards look different from Shaunna’s and even looked different in each class.

Today we are heading off on our family vacation to Arizona and Colorado. I am giddy with anticipation. It has been a sprinted marathon to get through this summer, but tomorrow we cross the finish line and it’s all about time with the boys, hiking, taking in the scenery and unplugging for a while.
