Furniture Makeovers

Furniture Feature Friday – Link Party & Favorites

Today we are heading off on our family vacation to Arizona and Colorado.  I am giddy with anticipation.  It has been a sprinted marathon to get through this summer, but tomorrow we cross the finish line and it’s all about time with the boys, hiking, taking in the scenery and unplugging for a while.  I’ve been working on some posts, so things will run as usual here on the blog, but I won’t be checking e-mail or responding to comments very often.  I’ll pop in here and there, so I’m not welcomed home by 2500 e-mails in my inbox.  If you have something important to ask, I would suggest waiting until September to send me an e-mail! I do have a guest picker lined up for FFF next week, so be ready to link up…same blog, same time. Here are my favorites from last week… Anyone who knows me even

White Wax Tutorial

This summer has been a little nutty for me, so I haven’t had to chance to do as much painting as I would like.  I’m really looking forward to school starting, so I can get back into a groove and get in my workshop a bit more often.  Since I have been so swamped, one of my amazing retailers and our primary educator for MMS Milk Paint, Abbe Doll, has really stepped up to help me introduce the new colors and products in our line.  Today, she’s going to show how to use the White Wax. It is available to purchase from our retailers right now, if you want to give it a try! Take it away, Abbe… White wax is here! It’s still has the buttery smooth finish we love about the Furniture Wax, but with a soft white pigment, that will give your finishes a soft, muted, white-washed

Furniture Feature Friday – Favorites & a Link Party

August is a crazy month for me.  I kicked it off with Haven, now I’m in North Carolina for the Becoming Conference and then we’re off to Arizona and Colorado.  FFF will still be happening, but you’ll have to hang in there with me if I miss it or can’t pick favorites one week.  I was able to fit some browsing in tonight, though, so here are my favorites… This piece by Pam from Simple Details looks so glam with a fresh coat of glossy black.  She’s a better woman than I for letting this go to a client!  It looks beautiful just where it is. I just featured a piece by Oliver & Rust  in a non-FFF post a few weeks ago and I try to pick different people to feature, but this was just too good not to share!  Look at the styling on that shelving.  Meg is a

New Front Door & New Prodcuts

I was assigned the project of painting a door and I thought, “Hmmm…I have the perfect candidate – my front door.”  It was original to the house, which sounds nice except for the fact that you could see daylight through parts of it and it was caked with layer upon layer of paint.  So, I decided it would be much simpler to replace it than to strip and repaint the existing door. I went with a door style similar to what we had, but one that I felt looked a bit more custom and unique with the six small windows and two panels. (It was hard to photograph it without it looking streaky from the reflection.  It really doesn’t look like that in real life,) I’m going to share how I painted the door and installed the hardware in a future post, by the way.  This is just a snippet.

Furniture Feature Friday – Jessica’s Favorites & Link Party

Tonight I am hanging out with Shaunna (and a bunch of other cool girls) at Haven. so I’ve asked Jessica of Dear Emmeline to pick some favorites for me.  Here they are… Every week I am so amazed by the creativity and style of all the pieces linked up.  This week is no exception!  Furniture painting really is an art form as evidenced by the three features this week. Oh my!  This navy, white, and gold credenza by Kelly at A Swell Place To Dwell has my heart a fluttering!  So clean, crisp, and styling.  Perfectly regal and evoking maritime nostalgia.  Don’t you just feel like you’re looking at a captain on a long ago military ship?  Minus all the yucky aspects of military and sailing life of course! All things boy room have been catching my eye while I’m working on the plans for my son’s room redo.  Kristy from

Furniture Feature Friday – Link Party & Laura’s Picks

The house was a flurry of activity today with lights and a skylight tube being installed in the bathroom and lots of cleaning and getting ready for a big photo shoot tomorrow.  I can’t wait to share everything we’ve been up to, but tonight it’s about furniture, so let’s get to it.  I had Laura from the Ironstone Nest as a guest picker today. She’s one of my MMS Milk Paint retailers who I talked about HERE.  If you remember, I was very inspired by her shop makeover and the beautiful, encouraging sign about furniture painting.  If you were inspired by it, too, and would like to have one in your shop, workshop, bathroom (just seeing if you’re paying attention), or wherever…you can have one custom made HERE. Oh, and you can also buy the new MMS Milk Paint colors, include Artissimo, online from her HERE.  Check out our

Say Hello to Artissimo

It’s time to say hello to one of my new MMS Milk Paint colors – Artissimo… It’s a deep, rich, yummy navy blue inspired by the P Kaufmann fabric used in my bedroom…       I just love it and can’t wait until I have the time and a piece to paint in it!  (Actually, I did paint one, but the color was looking washed out in the photos.)  So, to be more accurate, I can’t wait to paint another piece!  Since I’m a bit strapped for time this summer, I turned to the amazingly talented Abbe Doll of All Dolled Up to introduce this color for me.  I love the way the warmth of the wood shows through Artissimo.   …and there’s a little Shutter Gray surprise when you open it up.  Don’t you love the little wood drawer?  Clever little design touch, I think.  Thanks so much,
