Mustard Seed Yellow Kitchen & Updates

One of the amazing things about having a line of paint is seeing what people do with it.  Sometimes people send me pictures of their work and it just knocks my socks off.  When I received pictures of this kitchen by Atelier Du Vieux Pin (I can’t tell you how much I would butcher their name if I had to say it and not write it…) done in Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint…well, let’s just say that I was barefooted after looking through the pictures.   Pretty amazing, right?  I was blown away.  Not only is the space, custom cabinetry and flooring amazing, but the milk paint finish is perfection.   The Atelier Du Vieux Pin makes and designs French Canadian antique furniture reproductions and kitchen cabinets and they are true masters. Anyway, I thought it was amazing and worth sharing. Speaking of MMS Milk Paint, I do have some updates to share.  First

Furniture Feature Friday – Favorites & a Link Party

Between the pool, ice cream cones, catching fireflies, washing dirty feet and tucking in two tired boys, I almost didn’t make it to FFF tonight!  But, I managed to steal away a few minutes before 10:00 to pick out my favorites from two weeks ago.  The blues have it tonight… I think this painted hutch by Lilacs and Longhorns looks so pretty.   It adds just the right amount of pop against the neutral walls.  Very lovely piece. I love this Anthropologie-inspired typography dresser by Southern Revivals.  And it’s painted in one of my very favorite colors – Shutter Gray… I bet you can guess what caught my eye in this room by Dimples and Tangles…the curtains!  I also love the peacock blue used on this dresser.  You should see the before and after of this space and how just painting one piece of furniture made a big statement. Here

Abbe’s Story

The blog world is amazing.  If someone told me all of the possibilities when I pressed the “start a blog” button on Blogger almost four years ago, I’m not sure I would’ve believed them.  This blog has given me overwhelming opportunities and has made some of my pie-in-the-sky dreams a reality.  All of that stuff is pretty cool, but what has touched me and changed me more than anything are the kindred spirits I have met along the way.  Talented, gifted, creative and inspiring women who I have gotten to know.  Abbe of All Dolled Up is one of those women.  Our paths crossed when she applied to be a MMSMP retailer, but I started to really take notice of her when I saw her pieces posted on our private retailer Facebook page.  Abbe’s pieces were gorgeous and left me wanting to send her an e-mail to see how she

Clock Face Makeover

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post brought to you by Frog Tape. Remember the clock I bought on clearance at Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago?  I’ve been eyeing large clock faces for a while, but the ones I liked were always really expensive and the ones that were affordable weren’t quite right.  As I was strolling through the clearance aisle at Hobby Lobby, I saw this over-sized metal clock face.  I figured there was a lot of potential for this thing, so I snapped it up.  (I think it was around $50.) It didn’t look bad off the shelf, but I wasn’t crazy about the finish and the shiny black clock hands needed some mustardizing.  And you know me…I just can’t leave stuff alone! I liked the numbers the way they were, so I taped them off with some Frog Tape. I honestly wasn’t sure how MMS Milk Paint would adhere

Blank Canvas

I shared a few weeks ago that I found the perfect dining room chairs on Craig’s List.  They were vintage oval-back French caned chairs…just what I have been hunting for.  AND they were sturdy, which was important.  You know…so people could actually sit in them.  (I have been known to have chairs in my house that are just to look at and that’s a bad idea.  People do what you do with chairs and sit in them and I cringe, hoping the chair doesn’t flatten under them.) Anyway, the only bummer is that these perfect chairs had multiple coats of paint on them, the last one being maroon.  They were pretty gummed up with paint, so another coat of paint was not going to get these chairs where I wanted them to be, so I looked into having them stripped professionally.  I was surprised that it was not as expensive

Furniture Feature Friday – Favorites & a Link Party

Good evening FFF fans!  Today was a good day.  I finally found a great fabric for my French daybed, the new toilet and bathroom tile arrived (I’m sure the UPS guy loves me), some of my Hungarian fabric came in from Germany and I dealt with my sewing machine issues (operator error) and got started on a big sewing project for a freelance article.  Ah…good mail and productivity.  I love days like that.  Anyway, I’ll share all of that later.  Tonight…it’s about furniture.  Here are some of my favorites from last week… Brynne from The Gathered Home shares the triumph and trials of her Craig’s List score in this entertaining post…  (hint: it’s the tufted sofa.) Sticking with the sofa theme for tonight, Paint in My Hair shares this sweet whimsical sofa.  I think the colors and the way the fabrics play off one another is so cute. Kelly of
