Well, it looks like everyone is in the full furniture refinishing swing of things with warmer weather and sunnier skies. I know it has helped a lot with my motivation in my own home and yard and as I’ve been getting ready for my biggest event of the year. I’ve been up to my elbows in furniture makeovers, painting sanding, upholstery, etc., so it was nice to take a step back and enjoy browsing some of your projects. As always, you girls (and sometimes guys) are gooooooood. I’m often blown away. Here are a few of my favorites from last week… This dresser by Gilly of Color Saturated Life? Wow. Just wow. Just a quick reminder/clarification before I get into the post. The Friday event of the Lucketts Spring Market is a ticketed event, so you have to have a ticket to attend and tickets will not be sold at the gate AND the tickets are sold out. Mustard Seed Yellow Buffet

It may (or may not) surprise you to know that one of my favorite pieces of furniture ever was the piece I painted to introduce the Mustard Seed Yellow color in my milk paint line. The way the piece chipped, the original amber knobs, the dark wood top, the hand painting… it just all came together perfectly. When I brought this buffet into the studio, I immediately thought of that piece and decided to make this one over in a similar style. It’s a really old, pretty buffet made of oak, but the finish on it was almost black. I stripped off the top and finished that with two coats of Hemp Oil. The base of the cabinet was sanded and painted with three coats of Mustard Seed Yellow (a group effort by me, my mom and Megan.) I then added some decorative painting in Ironstone, distressed it and finished it

Before we get to the furniture party tonight, I have something super exciting to share. My blog BFF, Shaunna from Perfectly Imperfect, is going to be on HGTV! Dude! Since we’re blog BFFs and friends in real life, I’ve known about this for a long time and I know it’s been killing her that she had to keep it a secret, but now the cat’s out of the bag and the pilot is going to air this Sunday, May 3, 2015, at 2:00 pm EST. The show is called Sweet House Alabama (#SweetHomeAL) and, in the pilot, Matt and Shaunna are helping a family make an old southern home functional for a modern family. Lucketts Green Highboy

I told Kriste today that we’re in “final push mode.” This is the time when preparing for Lucketts that it gets hard for me. I’m getting tired. I feel like I’ve done enough, but there’s still more on my to-do list to see my plan through. So, I just need to work through the list and scratch things off one at a time until it’s done. The push today was to get the painted furniture finished and were we able to get all but one piece finished, which was quite an accomplishment and a boost. I have five pieces I still need to style and photograph, but tonight I’m sharing a highboy dresser I finished late last week. Before I get to the desk and the typewriter, I wanted to share a home & garden community app that my blog is a part of. It’s called bHome and is a great way to connect with some amazing bloggers. Enjoy!) Now, onto the furniture makeovers! I will start off by saying that I am totally in love with this little cottage-style dresser and those chairs. Trust me, I tried to mentally find a spot for these in my house! Hard. I couldn’t, so they are getting sold. Here is how this dresser started… It really was lovely just as it was and I even considered not painting it, but I decided to in the end. It had a glossy poly that was applied at some point, after the piece was stripped of its old layers of paint. It wasn’t the original finish, so I didn’t feel too bad about painting it. I did
