Furniture Feature Friday Link Party & Giveaway

Welcome to my third Furniture Feature Friday link party and giveaway! Make sure you check out the post below to enter my Frog Tape giveaway! It’s a great product and this is a chance to get some for free. I have such a special giveaway for the winner of the link party this week. I came across Leslie’s blog, The Seasoned Homemaker, a few weeks ago and just fell in love with her work. She makes the most adorable vintage inspired aprons, in addition to other hand crafted items, and sells them in her Etsy store. I’m planning to buy one of these to wear when I’m painting at our shop. So much cuter than the vinyl cat apron I currently wear. Leslie has graciously offered up one of her embroidered birds for the winner of today’s Furniture Feature Friday link party. Look at this gorgeous collection she put together!

Not only do I love her creations, but I love the focus of her blog and business – “Drawing attention to the virtues of the Proverbs 31 Woman – Strength, Honor, Character, Industriousness, Wisdom & Love.” Isn’t that inspiring? When she sent me the photo of the bracelet she

My Favorites & the Winner!

I had such a wonderful time looking at all of your furniture makeovers. You are some talented women! And I hate some of you (ahem, Maryanne) for your great dumpster diving luck. It was so hard to pick my favorites. There were a lot of good ones, but these are the ones I picked out… Amy from A Little Busy’s Stock Chandelier RedoIs a chandelier a piece of furniture? Sure, why not. And who really cares with how great this one turned out. Absolutely lovely, Amy. Make sure you check out Amy’s blog. Her kitchen redo is amazing! Decor Made Simple’s Ratan Coffee Table This coffee table looked like something off the set of the Golden Girls. I would not have thought it could look this timeless. Well done. Get Your Martha On’s Distressed White DresserThis is a pretty straight forward makeover, but she distressed this piece the perfect amount

Queen Anne Vanity Becomes a Chalkboard Desk

Here’s the piece I let you peek at a couple of days ago. I am usually a blue & white kind of person, but I also love warm colors like reds and yellows. I was in a red mood the day I painted this and it works so much better than a blue would have. Here’s the before. I purchased this vanity (with a very Queen Anne mirror attached) at an estate/yard sale for $20.00. It was sturdy and had functioning drawers, but it had a lot of water damage and the finish showed it. I sanded the piece, applied a coat of bonding primer and 2 coats of semi-gloss paint. I wish I could tell you the color of red I used (because I know the questions are coming), but I mixed this one myself. It is SW Rave Red with some Raw Umber universal tint mixed in to

Furniture Feature Friday – First Link Party!

Welcome to my very first Furniture Feature Friday link party! I cannot wait to see all of the wonderful and creative furniture makeovers you have to share with me, other participants, and readers who just want to be inspired! And here’s some great inspiration for you… My girl, Donna, over at Funky Junk Interiors is a talented lady and she proved it with this coffee table makeover. Here’s the before. Nice table, but just wait… Whoa…What happened? Click on the pictures to get all of the details from the woman herself about how to replicate this look in your own home. I love the tile top! And you never need a stack of coasters on your coffee table again. Doesn’t it look great in this room? I love how the color of the tile picks up the color of the stone fireplace. And that finish is just gorgeous. Slightly distressed,

A Basket, a Sconce, and a Topiary

The skies have finally cleared, the sun came out, and our temperatures soared into the 60’s. So, what’s a girl to do? Paint! Due to our much improved weather, I was able to crank out a few small things and I have some larger pieces that are almost ready to share. I just completed this basket today. It was a pretty straight forward makeover…grungy old basket gets a coat of primer, a coat of SW Open Seas paint, and a coat of Krylon Gloss Poly. Much better. I’m also showing off some of the new quilts I just picked out to sell in our new shop. They are gorgeous! Here’s the basket before. I purchased it at an auction for $1.00! It just needed a little love & paint. It came to the right place. I love old baskets, especially when they show that they’ve been well used. I can

Furniture Feature Friday – Oh, The Wonderful Things That White Can Do!

Welcome to my second Furniture Feature Friday! Remember I’ll have my very first linky party next week, so get your posts ready! For this week I found a wonderful makeover to inspire you. We all have seen those gargantuan 1970’s china cabinets in thrift stores and on Craig’s List for next to nothing. I am pretty brave with the furniture I buy to redo, but I’ve never had the guts to take on one of those. They are huge, heavy, often times have weird hardware and dated details. I now see that I was a fool. Do you see what I mean? The Enchantresses Three saw the potential in this old china cabinet that was purchased off Craig’s List for a song and, boy, did that vision pay off! This is what it looked like before… Yikes…That molding is really something else. I know I would’ve walking by without a
