My $30 Craig’s List Dresser Revealed – At Long Last!

Can you believe that this… …was this? I purchased this French Provincial dresser off of Craig’s list in October and have been chipping away at it at a snail’s pace. First of all, as you can see, it was missing most of the hardware. Normally this isn’t an issue, but the style of this dresser demanded specific hardware. I’m embarrassed to say that I shelled out almost $70.00 to buy vintage hardware that matched the original. It was an e-Bay bidding war that became very emotional. That puts my investment total at $100.00, which is high for me, but still awesome for a solid wood dresser of this quality, style, and size. Since this piece is solid wood, I decided to strip the top and stain it in a dark walnut. I was ready to go to war with this thick polyurethane top coat, but it came off surprisingly easy.

Furniture Feature Friday Link Party & A Confession

Hello, ladies! It’s time for my favorite post of the week…Furniture Feature Friday! This is where I feature a favorite furniture find from blog land and where you can link up to show off your furniture makeovers, thrifty finds, curbside saves, arrangements, or treasured pieces. Before I get to the feature, I have a confession to make (and I’m generally not this wordy, so I apologize in advance.) I got caught up in the numbers of this blog party and encouraged people to post anything and everything household related. I thought the more the merrier and felt that furniture only posts might be too restrictive. Someone (ahem, you know who you are) rightly pointed out that this party was about featuring furniture and she enjoyed that it didn’t include crafts and other projects. I appreciate that she pointed that out, because she’s right. So, even if only 2 of us

Furniture Feature Friday – Link Party & Giveaway

The Feature: This week, I have such a great furniture find, I decided to feature myself. In addition, I’ve been super busy and have not had a lot of time to look around the blog world for some great furniture pieces. My mom and I found this table a few days ago at a Salvation Army in Richmond. It was marked $49, which was a little high for us. As we were admiring it, a sales representative mentioned that it was 50% off of green tagged items, plus an extra 10% if we took it home with us. Bottom line, we ended up getting the piece for $18! I’m going to paint the base of it and add some glass knobs, but I love it and had to share. I love the patina on the cracked wood top. Paint will not touch this surface, I promise. The base will be

Furniture Feature Friday -Giveaway & Link Party

Welcome back to Furniture Feature Friday! We took a break last week due to Thanksgiving, but I missed it. I love seeing the makeovers, great finds, creative arrangements, and home furnishings & accessories. Can’t wait to see what everyone has for me this week! The Giveaway This week, my favorite link entry will receive a German glass glittered ornament made by yours truly. You can chose a letter, a bird, or a snowflake. I’ll also give you a choice on size and ribbon color. I’ll make it next week and ship it out, so the winner will have it by Christmas. The FeatureMy furniture feature this week is from one of my favorite blogs, Willow Decor. I’m sharing with you one of Gina’s favorite finds, a Mora Clock that was purchased in Germany about 15 years ago. She had the privilege to live in Bavaria (where I grew up) and

Lilia’s Bread Box

I am a little embarrassed to say that I just finished the custom painted bread box that was the giveaway for reaching my 100 follower milestone. That’s right. Give me a little bit of a break, here. It was custom painted and I had to work with Lilia to paint it how she wanted it. I also have two toddlers, a house, a husband, church commitments, clients, and I painted and moved our shop. That is the craziness that is my life. But, it’s finished and here it is! And here it was. This is the second one I have found in a thrift store, so these are pretty common. They’re constructed well, they are just dull and scream 1980’s. Lilia, from 2 Brown Eyed Beauties, chose to have the box painted a distressed white with a glass knob. For the decorative painting, she wanted the quote “A mother’s treasure

Lou Lynn’s Tray

It’s finally done! This is the tray I offered as the giveaway prize for my very first Furniture Feature Friday. The winner was Lou Lynn from the Life of Lou Lou and her fabulous chair makeover. This is what the tray looked like before. It was a thrift store find and actually was in really nice condition. It could have been left “as is” and I gave Lou Lynn that option. She chose to have me custom paint it for her in a soft blue/gray with white hand painted detail. I chose to distress the edges to give it more character and a sense of age. It also will hide any dings that may occur in daily use. I hand painted some detail around the outside of the handles in addition to the border around the surface of the tray. The hand painted scroll work was inspired by the footed
