technical difficulties, a cuff & some carnage

I must apologize for some of the wonkiness going on with my blog at the moment.  You may have been “rejected” from my site (don’t worry, so was I) and some things are now missing (like my slide show of recent posts and fancy widgets.)  We’re just experiencing some “technical difficulties” as they say and things will hopefully be sorted out on Monday. Even in my early days of blogging, I learned one of the perks…great mail.  I received so many sweet cards and beautiful gifts over the holidays (and year round, really.)  A couple of days ago, I checked my mail and found an unexpected little package.  This is what was in the box…   I highlighted this gorgeous cuff when I did a giveaway for one of my talented sponsors, Leslie Janson.   When I first spotted it I thought, “This is exactly my style in piece of jewelry.”

MMS Wuslu Pick of the Month & Giveaway

  It’s that time again!  I looked through my favorite wholesale catalog and picked something that caught my eye and now it’s Wuslu‘s deal of the day! I love pieces that are multifunctional and bring texture to a room and this slatted tray fits both of those categories nicely. It’s large enough to make a statement hung vertically or horizontally on a wall or it can function as a tray on a coffee table and a base for a dining room centerpiece.  It has a beautiful weathered finish on it, so it has a pretty convincing aged look to it.     …and just to give you a jump on everyone else, here’s the deal of the day for tomorrow…       I love the style and finish of this candle holder.  I think they would look great in a pair on a fireplace or in a room with a

His ways are higher…

I had a plan for my life and it changed.  There was a time when my dream was to be a professional stage actress. (Yep, that’s me.) It was more than a dream; it was a goal I worked hard towards for many years.  I even got my degree in musical theatre.  But there came a point in my life when I realized I loved the stage, but I didn’t love the lifestyle that came with it.  It meant traveling and going from one job to the next and always auditioning and rejection and long reherasals and late night performances.  I knew it wasn’t what God had for my life, so I put it on a shelf. Last week, I went to New York to film a segment for The Nate Berkus Show.  (I don’t know when it’s airing, yet, but I’ll let you know when I find out.)  It was an exciting

family room updates

 Today between church and youth group, I was working on mundane things like cleaning and painting my front door.  On Friday, though, I was able to take some time to get my family room straight after the Christmas decor came down.  I pulled out my clay pot caddy from the basement and finally put it to use holding Crayons for my boys.  I’ve been hesitant to put things out like this, knowing they would probably get chucked all over the room, but now the kiddos are old enough to handle it.  Mini is a little OCD, so she organized them by color and, surprisingly, the boys have been keeping them straight.  It’s also worked like a charm; pulling them away from the wrestling and light sabre battles to sit down and do some pages in their workbooks.  I pulled a couple of mismatched antique child’s chairs up to the coffee

Furniture Feature Friday – Link Party

It’s the first FFF of the new year and I almost missed it!  It’s been a crazy week for me, so I didn’t have a chance to get some favorites lined up for you.  I did enjoy looking through some of the best furniture from last year, though.  We’ve accomplished a lot, haven’t we?  If nothing else, we have some great furniture, right?  So, link up and I’ll pick some favorites for next week! Here are the rules for our furniture get-together… 1.) Your post has to be about furniture. Please, please, please…just furniture. If you find your link has been deleted, it’s not because I’m mean, it’s because your post was not about furniture. You can share makeovers, awesome finds, favorite pieces, furniture arrangements, or even pieces on your wish list! Built-in furniture like kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities qualify as furniture. 2.) Post a permalink (the link to

Post Road Vintage $150 Giveaway!

Meet Heather Anderson. She’s a self-proclaimed dreamer, designer, storyteller (and nerd!)  My kind of girl.   She followed one of those dreams and opened her online shop, Post Road Vintage, over 2 years ago.      She sells items that fit her chic, cottage style, including her signature mason jars turned soap dispensers.     …and cute coat racks  made with cool hooks mounted to distressed wood or trim.       Don’t you love her stuff?  I’ve been saving one of her soap dispensers for my half-bath, but it’s too big for the teeny-tiny pedestal sink.  Major bummer.  So, I have to use it somewhere else. Heather is offering up a $150 credit to spend in her shop to one lucky commenter.  YAY!  If you’d like a chance to win, here’s what you need to do… For one entry: Simply leave a comment on this post. For a second chance

{wicked}

Tonight, I am writing this post from a beautiful hotel in midtown Manhattan.  We just got back to our room from seeing Wicked from the center of the second row and I am on a musical theatre high.  It was amazing.  I can’t wait to tell you all about this day and this trip.  It’s been very special.     But, tonight I’m pooped and I have a busy day tomorrow, so I’ll tell you all about it later.  I also realize I didn’t announce the nest giveaway winner yet and I’m not going to until I get back. I know… that’s wicked.
