“Well, you definitely got into the right business.”  My mom has said this to me many times over my 13+ years of writing this blog.  She knows I love happy surprises, mail, and gifts and, in this weird little line of work, I get some of the best mail.  It started with rolls of tape, a t-shirt here and there, and then a flood of vintage and antique sheet music when I wanted to make wreaths, ornaments, and tree toppers out of paper.  It’s continued over the years with thoughtful things people find that “have my name on it” or someone is ready to pass a cherished time or collection on to a new home where it will be appreciated.  I’ve been the recipient of many thoughtful gifts and encouraging notes through the years.  Many of those notes are on my inspiration board and remind me that even though sharing

fashion gift ideas from Walmart

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by   As always, all words and opinions are honest and my own. Oh man, Christmas shopping!  Some years, I am right on the ball, and other years, it sneaks up on me.  Just today, Jeff and I were talking about Christmas shopping and he said, “Wasn’t Thanksgiving yesterday?”  If you’re feeling that way and you’re still looking to put up a few gifts, I have picked out some from Walmart that might help you with someone on your list.  I trolled through the to see if anything jumped out at me. I don’t like to recommend things I haven’t bought myself, so I found some stuff I liked or already own and love… I loved for the boys and buying a couple of pairs was a no-brainer.  (Their shoe size changes hourly, it seems.)  I’ve bought some slippers from before and I like that

I am pretty sure that the first thing I ever bought online was an antique piece listed on eBay.  Whether it was the first or not, what I vividly remember is feeling nervous about the entire idea of buying something online.  Clearly, I’ve gotten over that!  Not only has my confidence grown in buying online, but eBay continues to grow, evolve, and find ways to bring the best products to their customers in the most secure way.  One of their latest programs is eBay Refurbished, which is the most trusted way to purchase certified refurbished products from vetted sellers online. There was a time when I was skeptical about buying refurbished products, but when a couple of professional photographers shared with me that

time to refresh your bedding

Disclosure: This blog post is sponsored by Brooklinen.  As always, all opinions and words are honest and my own. I’ve shared about Brooklinen many times over the years and I continue to partner with them because their bedding and towels are just that awesome.  I started using their towels five years ago and have been hooked on their oversized bath sheets that are so luxurious and sinkable soft that other towels feel inferior.  I’ve used their lightweight feather comforter for that same amount of time and it is a go-to when I need an extra layer.  And I’ve used their linen and cotton sheets and linen quilt on my bed for a couple of years and they are beautiful, comfortable, and just keep getting better with age. I’m highlighting them this week because they are running their biggest sale of the year, so it’s the perfect time to refresh, upgrade,

September & October 2022 favorites

We moved into our house in mid-September, which feels like just a couple of weeks ago, but here we are in mid-November.  There are seasons of life when time ticks by slowly, like when waiting for a broken foot to heal, and seasons when the days and weeks fly by, like when you’re in the frenzied weeks after moving into a new house.  In all of the activity, projects, and busyness, I forgot to share my favorites not only for September but for October as well!  Fortunately, I do make notes of things I enjoy, so I can share them with you.  Here are my favorites from September and October 2022. home, of course, and everything that came with that Well, this had to be at the top of the list!  After a few uncertain months, we were finally able to unpack our suitcases in a 1970s brick rancher in

a pillow you can customize

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Marlow, a brand-new company from the founders of Brooklinen.  I’ve partnered with Brooklinen for over five years, so I was happy to partner with them on their newest brand created to help me sleep more comfortably.  As always, all opinions and words expressed are honest and my own. When moving into a new home, there are a lot of good moments.  Some good moments that come to mind are eating the first meal in the house (ours was pizza, picnic-style), getting the kitchen set up, and the first time the family snuggles on the sofa for a movie night.  But, I think the best moment in a new house is when you finally sleep in your own bed, especially if it’s been almost five months! I seriously could’ve cried tears of joy when our bed was set up and made with freshly-washed linen sheets

August 2022 Favorites

I wish I could say the month of August was all good things and favorites enveloped by constant grace and poise.  But, as is often the case with life, it was a rollercoaster of peaks and valleys.  It was days of peace and ones of impatience.  It was the start of school in the midst of uncertainty.  It was weariness from not having our own home, our own beds, our own stuff.  But, it was also full of gratitude for a family who so generously open their homes to us and take care of our sweet animals.  It was the enjoyment felt as new acquaintances grow in familiarity and potential friendships are on the horizon.  It was being able to walk again after a month of relying on crutches and a scooter. It’s the peace in knowing that this is all just a brief season, that God is in complete

July 2022 Favorites

Despite being in a season of life that has been all about upheaval and waiting, July was a good month full of favorites.  I actually like writing these favorites post for that very reason…it gives me an opportunity to look at the past few weeks with a lens of gratitude instead of complaint.  My foot is still broken, I was told to stay off of it and use crutches and a knee scooter, we’re waiting for so many pieces to fall into place regarding our future, but there were sweet times, beautiful moments, and things I thoroughly enjoyed that are worth sharing with you. I hope whatever season of life you are in, you can still find some favorites.  Here are mine from July 2022… July 4th in Gettysburg, PA We spent many July 4ths in Gettysburg and I forgot how enjoyable it is.  If you’re a little rusty on
