PB Inspired Nursery Mural Revealed

Well, I finally have an explanation for why I’ve been feeling poorly for about a month. I have a sinus infection and bronchitis! So, I’m now on the antibiotics & codeine and should be feeling much better in a couple of days. I was in the spray booth today, anyway, and have a lot of fun things in the works. But first, I have been promising pictures of the Pottery Barn inspired mural that I completed over a week ago and I am now coming good on that promise. I absolutely love how it turned out and it makes me wish I had a little girl, so I could do this in my own home. My client is currently pregnant with her third baby (a bit of a surprise) and she wanted to do something feminine and simple in the nursery. She knew she wanted pink & brown, but beyond

Mod Podge Table

OK, I’m hooked on Mod Podge. I used it for the very first time on my shelf makeover and decided to try it on a table. Why not?I purchased this table at a yard sale for…I think $2.00. I bought 3 tables that all looked very similar, so I forgot which one I bought where. This is a before picture of one of the similar tables. Unfortunately, I didn’t take a picture of the one I’m featuring in this post. Darn it! I primed it (this is the other similar table, not the actual one) and painted it in a vibrant blue from Sherwin Williams called Open Seas. Here’s the actual table, all painted up and ready for the creative step. I really wasn’t sure what I was going to do with this, but after the success on my Mod Podge shelf, I decided to try it on a table.

An Organized Office & Back to Work

*big sigh* My office is finally organized. It’s not done (will it ever be?), but it’s organized. For the weeks prior to our shop move, my office (and dining room) became a dumping ground, holding area, and a waiting place. It was a space you tip-toe into, grab what you need, leave and close the door. See my neglected shelf under the work table? And how am I going to get work done on a surface that is piled foot high in ironstone, lamp shades, and paper work? And the floor was covered in bags, finished projects, and things that were in-the works. Now, my desk is clean and organized. Papers are filed, supplies are at hand, and inspiration is tacked on my revamped cork board. Does anyone else sketch designs on scrap pieces of paper? I saw this design on some bedding in Target and I am using it

My Favorites & A Winner

You all know the drill…it’s so hard to pick my favorites and a winner! Even with a smaller group this week, it was hard. There are so many wonderful projects. My first favorite is the Buffet Turned Vanity by Roeshel from the DIY Show Off. I am really in love this. Not only is the buffet gorgeous, but I love the ribbon ties, the bead board, the mirror! You have to check it out to see the before and everything that has gone into this lovely makeover. I really hope to find the right piece, so I can do this one day. $.99 Vase Turned Cloche by Chelsea from Room to Inspire. OK, is a cloche a piece of furniture? In my opinion, it falls under the “home furnishings” category, so I hope everyone feels free to share great home decor projects like this one. Chelsea made this cloche and

Painting a Harlequin Pattern

For the back room of our shop, we decided to go with a pink and brown fanciful harlequin pattern. This is actually a simple (though tedious) wall treatment and such a fun one for a little girl’s bedroom. (Hang with me on the pictures, here. They were taken in flourescent lighting, ick.) So, I’m going to share how I did this. The boring part of this project is the measuring. Who knew I would have to use geometry as a decorative artist! The center point of my harlequin pattern was 18″ and I chose 20″ as a width. This was just a width that was pleasing to my eye. So, I measured 18″ up and 20″ over. On the top and bottom, I measured 10″ over. I then connected the dots to make the diamond. From the top & bottom points, I measured 20″ over and from the center point,

Small Shelf Makeover

I wish I had a true before picture of this shelf. I found this at a thrift store several months ago for about $4.00. It was a dated, dark brown with terrible paneling as the back that was broken in several places. My hubby replaced the back with a thin plywood and I primed and painted it in a bright white. This shelf was then neglected for a few months. I have moved it from place to place in my office, never really wanting to work on it. I had zero inspiration. I was ready to pitch it and get it out of my site. A couple of days ago, I made the 40 minute trek out to Hobby Lobby and found some beautiful scrapbooking paper (along with tons of other fun stuff.) Now, I am not a scrapbooker, but lately I’ve been looking at the papers out there and

My Favorites & A Winner!

I know I’ve been saying every week how difficult it is to pick my favorites, but this week was crazy! By the time I looked through 6 of the links, I had 4 favorites! Well, I had to pick, so here it goes! Sarah from A Beach Cottage scored the most wonderful vintage First Aid box. I am really drawn to pieces like this that were once utilitarian and are now elevated to display pieces. If you haven’t seen her blog, you much check it out. She has a beautiful, breezy style and takes the best pictures. Donna from Funky Junk Interior’s aluminum backed armoire. This girl is crazy handy with tools and she knows how to put that handiness to good use. The rusted corrugated aluminum adds so much texture and interest to this piece and her eye for display is inspiring. Well done, Donna. Quiet Footstep’s 2 tiered
