J&Mgallery

A few months ago, I had the opportunity to curate a collection for Joss & Main.  When they recently asked me if I would like to do another one, it was a no-brainer.  YES!  Of Course!  I had such a good time shopping for things that captured my style in order to make them available to my readers.   This collection is still centered around the staples of my look…blue & white, a little farm house, a little French country, a little bit of the rest of Europe thrown in and, of course, everything has a vintage feel. Since I’ve completed a couple of rooms since my last collection, we were able to include finds that would be right at home in my kitchen… (like this preserved boxwood wreath…)     (…and x-back chairs) …and my master bedroom. We were even able to include the exact Park Hill bedding that’s

Some of “my” things that I’m selling…

For some reason, I am in a huge purge mood this year as I’m getting ready for Lucketts.  I’ve been grabbing things I’ve had and loved for years and I’m tagging them without hesitation.  I think I’m learning that I will always find something new that I’m excited about and I’ve probably kept too much stuff along the way.  I’ve kept some things to use for photo shoots, but I always end up using the latest and greatest thing I’ve found.  So, now it’s time to send some of those things along to a new home.  Here are some of “my” things that I’m taking to Lucketts to sell… The peanut scale… My dining room table (it comes with six chairs and one leaf.)  The top is lighter now, since I refinished it and all of the seats are upholstered in antique grain sacks.  AND I have a bamboo mat,

Furniture Feature Friday – Favorites & a Link Party

Well, I’m back on the road again today.  My niece has the lead roll in a play and that’s a good excuse to pay some family a short visit.  I’ll be back to preparing for Lucketts next week, but I get a bit of a break from the sanding, painting, pricing and shopping.  (Well, maybe I’ll try to squeeze in some shopping…)  I did have some time to browse the entries from last week, though,  and pick some favorites.  Here they are… I love this primitive piece enhanced with a wood planked top added by Ally from Home by Ally.  I’m also digging her take on the paper wreath.  Very whimsical.   This Anthropologie inspired dresser by Redoux Interiors is a great example of how terrible a paint finish can look when it’s in process and then how amazing it can look when it’s all done.  (I hope everyone reads

More Finds & Dried Magnolia Wreath

I had grander plans for my post today, but you know how plans can change.  I was called around lunch to pick up one of my boys from school, because he had a swollen eye.  I figured he had poked it or rubbed it or something like that.  Well, when I got to school, I saw that his actually eye ball was swollen!  That turned my plans on end.  That mommy thing that drops you heart into your gut kicked in and I took him straight to the ER.  His eye got even bigger as we drove to the hospital, to the point where he couldn’t close it.  They took us straight to a doctor to check it out (even the nurse hadn’t seen anything like it.)  He was having an allergic reaction to something, so they treated the acute symptoms and we’ll have to get him tested to see

Do you have any tape?

As I shared in my last post, I spent a few days on Long Island, New York with a group of teenagers working on Hurricane Sandy relief projects.  While preparing for the trip, I tried to think of ways I could use some of the relationships I’ve established through my blog to help.  I didn’t know what the church and parsonage needed, so I didn’t try to get any specific products, but one thing I have a lot of was Frog Tape.  They just sent me two huge boxes to giveaway as freebies at the Lucketts Antique Market.  So, I grabbed a small box of eight rolls on the way out the door.  I was certain it would come in handy. The box of Frog Tape was packed under the seats of the van, so I forgot about it as the group started to bag trash, hang new doors and lay

Hurricane Sandy Relief Day 1

I’m on Long Island, New York this weekend with a group from our church to help out another church that was devastated by Hurricane Sandy.  The canals flooded, bringing 3 feet of dirty water and debris into their church building. The building doesn’t look too bad from the outside…it’s actually a very charming church and I was immediately in love with the shingles. My team of three teenage girls and I spent the morning cleaning  up trash from the building, the property and the parsonage.  And we got a pretty healthy pile built up over the course of the day.  Trash sitting around is sort of a pet peeve of mine, so that’s the kind of work I can really plow into.  This corner was full of canoes, trash, leaves, branches, etc. and now it’s cleaned up…   We then sanded the drywall to prep for priming and painting…

Furniture Feature Friday – Jessica’s Favorites & a Link Party

I spent the day traveling to Long Island, New York where I’m working with a group to help clean up and rebuild after Hurricane Sandy.  They have an overwhelming amount of work that needs to be done still about seven months later.  I brought my camera, so I’ll share some pictures of the work we’re doing. Before we get to FFF, I want to give a special shout out to a place that has earned my affections today.  This is probably TMI, but if you’ve ever driven through an urban area and drank a bit too much water prior to doing so, you know how hard it can be to find a restroom or even an exit that leads to a restroom.  So, after about a hour of driving through NYC traffic, I was about ready to burst and cry.  We finally took an exit in Queens, hoping to find a place
