Furniture Feature Friday & A Winner

I’m sure it’s getting old hearing this, but it was really, really hard to pick a winner from last week’s entries.  There were a lot of great pieces.  Especially chairs!  I have a chair that I’ve been a little scared to tackle and you girls have inspired me.  Even if I rip it apart and can’t get it back together, I’m only out $6.00…so, what am I scared of? Anyway, I just love hosting this party.  You girls rock! So, the winner of last week’s FFF is… Kerri from A Very Blessed Nest and her wonderful upholstery job on this unwanted bench.  Can you believe no one else in her family wanted this piece?  It wasn’t even ugly before she reupholstered it!  She just made it better.   Don’t you love those rooster pillows as well?  Very nice job, Kerri! I also love her daughter’s room.  Isn’t this sweet and perfect for

Furniture Feature Friday – Winner & Link Party

Welcome to another Furniture Feature Friday.  I’ve had a busy week, so this one really snuck up on me.  I finally got around to looking at all of the links and was really torn about who to pick as a winner until I saw this beautiful hand painted console table by Lauren from Gathering Moss.  Blue and white…hand painted…come on, ladies.  How could I not pick this one?  I also love the way she has arranged this table.  There is so much texture and interest…just lovely, Lauren. She used a painted piece from Wisteria as her inspiration and I think she did an amazing job with the hand painted detail.  The soft contrast is a real key, here.  All of these mixed patterns in a high contrast would get a little busy and wouldn’t look as elegant. Unfortunately, this took Lauren about a million years to complete, so I’m not

Furniture Feature Friday Link Party

First of all, my apologies to those of you who were #29 or higher in my link party from last week.  For some reason, I stopped at #28 and forgot to come back.  I did get to visit each and every one, though, and some of you have had a very busy year!  Oh, the smell of paint fumes in the morning, the coat of sanding dust on your jeans, and the stain that is under your nails for a week…the joy of it all!  I can’t wait to see all of the rescued and repurposed furniture in 2010.  So, on to the features.  This week I am featuring my favorites from last week.  Here we go… One Man’s Trash is a Woman’s Treasure I absolutely fell in love with this piece by Amy from The Whisper Wood Cottage.  The shape is fantastic, the color is gorgeous, and the way

Furniture Feature Friday Link Party & A Confession

Hello, ladies! It’s time for my favorite post of the week…Furniture Feature Friday! This is where I feature a favorite furniture find from blog land and where you can link up to show off your furniture makeovers, thrifty finds, curbside saves, arrangements, or treasured pieces. Before I get to the feature, I have a confession to make (and I’m generally not this wordy, so I apologize in advance.) I got caught up in the numbers of this blog party and encouraged people to post anything and everything household related. I thought the more the merrier and felt that furniture only posts might be too restrictive. Someone (ahem, you know who you are) rightly pointed out that this party was about featuring furniture and she enjoyed that it didn’t include crafts and other projects. I appreciate that she pointed that out, because she’s right. So, even if only 2 of us

Furniture Feature Friday – Link Party & Giveaway

The Feature: This week, I have such a great furniture find, I decided to feature myself. In addition, I’ve been super busy and have not had a lot of time to look around the blog world for some great furniture pieces. My mom and I found this table a few days ago at a Salvation Army in Richmond. It was marked $49, which was a little high for us. As we were admiring it, a sales representative mentioned that it was 50% off of green tagged items, plus an extra 10% if we took it home with us. Bottom line, we ended up getting the piece for $18! I’m going to paint the base of it and add some glass knobs, but I love it and had to share. I love the patina on the cracked wood top. Paint will not touch this surface, I promise. The base will be
