FURNITURE FEATURE FRIDAY – Breida’s Favorites & Link Party

Good evening, all!  I spent the day traveling from Pennsylvania all the way to Alabama with my husband, towing a trailer behind.  Since we left at 4:00 in the morning, we’re taking tonight to catch up on some sleep, so we’re ready to set up my space at The Chapel Market tomorrow.  I did do some hard napping in the car and drool may have been involved, but a good night sleep is still in order!  So, tonight I have a guest picker – Breida with a B (or as I call her “I before E except in Breida.”)  She’s a wonderful writer and has great taste, so I knew you would be in good hands with her. I’m so excited to be back here at Miss Mustard Seed again! It seems natural to start off by saying that, and also to say that it was so hard to choose from

Good evening everyone!  Thanks so much for all of the links last week.  It’s so much fun for me to look through them and see people showing off all styles of furniture, techniques, paint, fabrics, makeovers and awesome finds.  Each week is truly a  furniture feast for the eyes, so thank you for that!  I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.  Here are three of my favorites from last week… I love all of the details and custom touches on this drop-cloth-slipcovered ottoman by Patti of Old Things New.  The double ruffled skirt with the frayed edges make this piece super special. I’m game for painting anything, but I’ve never tried to paint upholstery.  This piece by Terry of Forever Decorating, and the tutorial for it, looks fabulous and makes me want to give it a try! I think this finish by Cassie of Primitive and

Good evening my fellow furniture-loving friends.  I’m in Raleigh, NC for the weekend to see my boys get all dressed up in tuxes to carry rings down the aisle for my cousin’s wedding.  I can’t wait to see them all decked out in their shiny shoes and box ties.   It’s also a nice chance for me to get away from my house and workshop and all of the things that need to be done for the upcoming Chapel Market.  I’m looking forward to all of that…I have a few pieces waiting to be refinished and painted and boxes of stuff waiting to be priced.  That will all wait, though, and I’ll try to take this time to catch up on some sleep and enjoy time with family. Anyway, here are my favorites from last week… If you know me at all, you may have guessed that this dresser by

FURNITURE FEATURE FRIDAY – Favorites & Link

Today was all about little tasks like shipping, bills, mail, e-mail, paperwork…all of that mundane stuff that I push aside, so I can paint and create.  It feels good to get that off of my plate, though!  Anyway, let’s get to the furniture… I know that super distressed pieces can sometimes be the most controversial, love-it-or-hate-it-pieces, but they can also be the most striking.  I think this piece by Kathy of Petticoat Junktion is definitely striking…in my opinion. I think this piece by Repurposed Gems is so pretty with the color, distressing and hand painted detail and, of course, the wood top. And I also love the white on wood dresser by Fab Rehab Creations.  The wood grain is fabulous and I love the casual nature of the rope handles.  Great makeovers! Here are the rules for our furniture get-together… 1.) Your post has to be about furniture. Please, please,

I’m sneaking away a few minutes with my laptop while on vacation to introduce you to my guest-picker tonight.  I met Breida of Breida with a B a couple of years ago when she came to the Lucketts Fair.  She sent me an e-mail letting me know she was attending the fair and would be sharing about it on social media.  Breida asked, very politely, if I would like to share that with my readers, so they can follow along.  I’ll be totally honest here and say that I was skeptical about linking up to a blogger I didn’t know.  I take the links I put in my posts seriously and I don’t want to send my readers somewhere I wouldn’t want to go myself.  So, I checked out her blog and I was sucked in.  That happens with a good blog.  Breida has such a way with words and
