Furniture Makeovers

furniture feature friday | favorites & link party

Good evening, all!  I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to make my picks tonight, but I squeak them in.  Kriste and I have had a full day of upholstery, sewing, painting and then she and her husband hung out with us for dinner.  We were all laughing and the boys were highly entertained and entertaining in turn.  It’s been a good, full day.  So, here are my picks from last week… This burled campaign dresser by Christina of Phoenix Restoration is stunning.  She totally did this piece justice by giving it a fresh look, but highlighting the original features that make this piece shine.  Well done.   Cami from Tidbits found this table in her grandfather’s junk yard.  I can understand someone not seeing the potential in it, but the faded paint, rusty hardware, X legs and even the warped top endeared it to me.   Lastly, Colleen from

Kriste and I spent our day traveling to Wisconsin!  Trips like these are always so fun.  Tiring, but fun.  So much of my work is done behind the computer, in my house or in the studio and it’s nice to get outside of that bubble. Anyway, I did have some time to pick favorites before heading out the door.  There were a lot of “wow” pieces, but these are a few stand-outs. The rustic stool by Jamie of anderson + grant is so clever and simple AND amazing.  It’s definitely an example of the sum being great than the parts.  This rusty old library cart got a fresh look with a chippy coat of white paint that seems to suit it perfectly.  I think Manda from Lost in the Found did a great job. Kim from Painted Poppy Studio appropriately named this dresser the “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” dresser.  How cool is that

Hello, all!  If you’ve been following along, you know I’ve been up to my neck in all things Lucketts.  I’m finally started to dig myself out and it’s right onto the next thing.  I usually don’t have so many things stacked up in a row, but it’s just a busy time.  Once I make it through June 11, I have a pretty open calendar and will schedule a few rest days.  Until then, it’s onward!  Since I really still feel like I’m in spring market mode, I decided to focus my features on favorite finds and shops instead of makeovers this week. Julie from Love my Simple Home shared this beautiful pine buffet (and all of those well-styled accessories) from North Found, one of her favorite haunts.  I just love everything about it!   DD’s Cottage & Design takes us to a European container sale at Altelier de Campagne.  It’s

Before and Afters

Lucketts Eve 2015

Today is about resting up for the three day marathon that is the Lucketts Spring Market.  I lingered in bed, took a long soak in a hot bath with lavender epsom salts and had a nice breakfast.  I’m getting my post done early, so I can get a full night’s sleep before the big day tomorrow.  We do have to pack up the van with the final things to take down to the market, but that’s pretty much all that needs to be done.  I can honestly say that I have never worked so hard and so focused on a specific event.  Now, all I can do is watch how it all unfolds over the next three days.  The weather, the crowds, how things sell…  I’ll keep you posted. Before I go, I realized I had one more piece of furniture to share.  It’s this sweet little wash stand… Here’s how

pedestal table & balloon back chairs

The Lucketts Spring Market is just days away and I still have things to show you!  I’m going to share more details about the sale, answer your questions and share pictures of everything all set up over the next few days.  Until then, here are a few more things that are coming to the sale… When I purchased this table a few weeks ago, it looked so sad.  With missing veneer, water damage, a wobbly base and a thick layer of dirt, it was hard to see potential, but the shape of that pedestal was irresistible! Here’s how it looked before…   I tightened down the top, so it was sturdy, and cleaned it up, but I left the other dents and dings alone.  The top was missing all of its veneer, but no one would ever notice that once I painted it. I applied a coat of MMSMP in a mix
