There was a time when I didn’t care very much about original art. I actually went to a fine arts college, so I had the chance to attend galleries regularly.  I think it was even required, actually…  I’d stroll around the room, looking for a few minutes and then I’d find my friends and we’d go off to chat in a corner.  I just never appreciated it…until I owned my very first original oil painting.

Now I’m hooked.

I used to ignore the wall art at antique malls and auctions, but now I lean it and look…seeing if anything speaks to me.

And I’ve started to browse eBay for original art to use in my home.  I’ve found so many beautiful, well-priced pieces that I curated a collection of original art pieces that caught my eye.  I even added a couple to my shopping cart, but I’m still thinking…

Obviously, I gravitate towards realistic and impressionistic paintings that have a bucolic subject and a vintage feel.  And, I might as well admit that I have thing for cows.  There.  I said it.  I do.  I don’t know what that’s about, but I think a painting of a cow is just about the prettiest thing you can hang on a wall.

Anyway, you can check out the full collection HERE and my other collections HERE.

You may notice the name of the collection is “#imbornto curate”.  Here’s why… eBay has launched a new campaign called  Curate for a Cause.  You can check out the full details at www.ebay.com/imbornto, but for every curated collection created with #ImBornTo, eBay will donate $1.00 to March of Dimes.  You’ll also be entered to win a $5,000 shopping spree on eBay.  I can think of a few things I could spend that money on!  So, join in and curate for a cause!

I love the cows too! Please list more boxwood wreaths in your online store. I have not been able to buy any because they are always sold out. I would love them for my home. Have a blessed week!!

Antique paintings are the one thing I collect that I will never sell. I am not afraid to spend on something I love. They are a passion and I know I will never tire of them.

Original artwork makes such a huge difference in a rooms look. I too love cows, but horses always catch my eye and I don’t exactly understand that since I’ve always been intimidated by thm in person. Your board has great pics!

I LOVE your cow paintings and your curated collections. And I’ll admit I have a thing for…pigs! I have so many pig prints and figurines. It all started with Belleek pig my grandma gave me when I was a kid.

I’ve been looking out for original artwork in the last couple of years too. I used to just have prints of the masters, but lately I’ve been admiring good amateur work. The previous owners left a cottage scene done by an unknown and for years I kept it in the shed, but one day I popped it out of it its ugly frame and stained matting and realized it was very pretty. I propped it up unframed on top of a tall bookcase and there it stays admired. I found two floral oil paintings which I also like and they’ve also become casual unframed decor. It really does add quite a bit to a room in a way a reprint doesn’t.

Oh my gosh, you and me both! I find so much of it, some of it not so good and then the ones I buy-fantastic!! I’m worried that I have too much art hanging on my walls but I WILL NOT part with the pieces that I have! I don’t have enough house, or even storage to be able to switch the paintings in and out!

I’ve been very blessed to have parents that are artists, water color and toile painting, so I have a home full of beautiful original art. One good piece of art can make an entire room. Most paintings are done by people with true passion and love for the medium, they devote many hours to their craft. Original art is often pricey but it’s an investment, first made by the person who creates it-then by the person who purchases it to enhance their home. Even if you can only afford one piece of original art -find a piece that speaks to you and go for it – it’s worth it!

What became of the first original white cow/bull painting? You had it before the one that now hangs in your home.

Check out Bonnie Mohr Studio for cow and other paintings. They are so lifelike.

I love art. That tends to be our vacation souvenir when we travel. Love your choices.

And thank you for supoorting the March of Dimes. Their research helped in the survival and eventual thriving of our great nephew who was born more than 3 months prematurely. He will celebrate his 11th birthday next month. He is a fun and wonderful of our family.
