I have had the incredible honor of having rooms in my home photographed for magazines twice already this year (they haven’t been published, yet) and now on Friday, I have the chance to go through that process again.  Let me tell you that I have been a shelter magazine junkie for a long time and have always dreamed of seeing my home on a glossy page.  The first time I received an e-mail asking to feature my blog in a magazine, I cried.  When I finally (over two years after starting my blog) got the e-mail asking to photograph a room in my home, I cried again.  And laughed and jumped up and down.  I still feel that way.  It seemed like such an unattainable dream that I hardly wanted to whisper it to anyone or put it on the goal list.  I was certain that was only for people

A few weeks ago, I wrote about possible future projects and many of you noticed that my kitchen floors aren’t exactly my style.  They’re a currently a pinkish beige with faux leaves on it (with a shadow and everything.) Seriously…who wants faux leaves on their floors?  I’ve actually had people try to pick them up.  So, after I mentioned that, I received a very timely e-mail asking if I’d like to test out some tile.  Well, don’t mind if I do!   So, I selected the tile I wanted and it was shipped to my door (it wasn’t available at the store in my area.)     I went to leave my house one morning and could hardly open the front door because there was a barricade of boxes.  The tile!!  (Yes, and a vacuum as well.)  I’m sure the UPS guy hated me on that day (and it was one of those

I’m back from Haven.  I’m tired.  My eyes are blurry.  My inbox is full.   I was so busy that I only took a few pictures and didn’t share as much on my blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc. as I wanted.  I had an amazing time, though, and it was all worth it.  I’ll share more about it when I’ve had a little time to recover.  Whew! Tonight, I thought I would share an idea that’s been bugging me.  It popped up a few weeks ago and won’t go away. I refinished my floors about four years ago.  It was a tough and rather ridiculous process, but the results were beautiful.   Over the years, though, my business has been tough on my floors.  It took me a while to figure out that I needed to put felt pads on every single piece of furniture that comes into my house and it shows.
