When we moved Calvin into the guest room, he decided to keep the dresser that was in there, so his old dresser became an extra. A couple of weeks ago, we finally muscled this piece down the stairs and took it over to the studio.
It’s a beautiful piece, but the finish was pretty dinged up and tired. It looks a bit better in the picture than it does in person…
Kriste and I tag-teamed this piece and I love how it turned out!
We lightly sanded the finish to give it “tooth” and then painted it in two coats of MMS Milk Paint Schloss.
I lightly distressed the edges with a medium grit sand paper just to soften the newness of the paint and bring out some of the details of the piece.
Kriste finished it off with MMS Hemp Oil to protect the finish and bring out the beauty of the color.
I decided to replace the old knobs with marble knobs I picked up from Hobby Lobby. I love how the gray veining compliments the warm gray paint.
And there it is…
This piece is a nice one, because the top drawers have divided cubbies and behind the doors are three drawers. It makes it a very practical, versatile piece.
This piece is for sale, if you’re interested! We’ll list all of the details in the online shop this week, along with a few other furniture pieces that are currently available.
I have a busy week in the studio, trying to meet a few deadlines, but I hope to get some more work done on the upholstered pieces that have been waiting for my attention…
Its beautiful. love the color!
It is a lovely, unique piece. Love the whole thing.
I love how you give tired pieces new life!
Very pretty!
I love how the lighter paint brings out the special trim design on the doors.
I’d love this, and I’m even going to be near you this weekend (visiting family in Littlestown)! Could you let me know a price?
very pretty! The new studio floor looks amazing with this piece!
Love this piece, and I agree, it looks especially pretty against that new flooring!
Love this, wish I lived closer, I would be on my way over right now!
Beautiful!!
Beautiful! And lovely staging. Can you buy wicker laundry baskets like that anymore? I’d love to get one.
Love this piece! Wish it wasn’t so far from Texas up to you, because I would love to have it!
Now this is Marion! Love it, so nicely done and what an improvement on a really “good bones” piece. Thanks for sharing.
Gorgeous. That colour is perfect for the piece. Oddly, the new floor has a pink tone (even the swatch you showed in an earlier post look pinkish to me). Was that intentional? As a person who lives with orange hardwood floors (110 year old native wood to New Zealand), I know the pain is real!
I love everything about this piece! Beautiful.
Beautiful job, you guys… What a tag team!
Many thanks for sharing your step-by-step for accomplishing the transformation. You’re an inspiration.
Very nice transformation. Is thinking about painting a similar piece but s concerned about getting the did to align properly when putting them back on. It looks like you painted then in place. If so, did you tape of the hinges?
Sorry. I should never trust my phone to spell what I mean. I was thinking to do a similar piece… Was concerned about the doors aligning… 🙂
Ha! I knew what you meant. Yes, I just kept the doors on while it was being painted.
Love the color…..I knew I would like Schloss!
Love it! Wish I lived close enough to buy this, I would snap it up! So happy to see a furniture makeover in something other than farmhouse white. 🙂 Love that color, but really enjoy seeing the other gorgeous colors in your line, as well.
Have you ever used your milk paint on melamine cabinets? Just wondered. Would love to paint some ones in the bathroom with this gorgeous gray color.
Thanks
Just a beautiful piece. I love it
Absolutely love it!! When will it go live in the online shop?
The dresser is gorgeous! Love the color. Could you tell us about the cute bunny picture?
The reproduction of the hare (bunny) was created by Albrecht Dürer, a German artist. Completed in Durer’s workshop in 1502, it is considered an observational art masterpiece. The German title Feldhase literally translates to Field Hare. The detail in this piece of art is amazing and it is one of those works that is widely known.
So, so gorgeous. Grey is my favourite colour at present. Wish I could buy your paint in the UK.
