On April 27, 2012, I announced to the world (well, to my blog readers), that I would be launching my very own line of milk paint.  That makes this Saturday, April 27, 2019, the official 7th birthday of the Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint line!  And we’re celebrating with a walk down memory lane and presents!  We’re running giveaways on the MMSMP Instagram and MMSMP Facebook pages and we’re running a giveaway on this post, too!

When I introduced the line in that post, I introduced it as my “pie-in-the-sky-dream-come-true”.  Having my own line seemed so outrageous and out of reach.  But, I had this idea of giving milk paint, a paint I had come to love for furniture, a fresh face.  It needed to be freed from the paper bags, colonial color palette, and the dusty shelves of antique malls.  It’s an amazing and unique product and someone needed to give it the attention it deserved.  I really had no idea that someone would be me, but the doors opened, I took a deep breath, pitched the idea, and the answer was actually yes.

In that initial post, this is how I presented the idea to my blog audience…

“I’m working on developing the line of 12 colors right now.  It’s been fun selecting colors I like to use on my furniture and picking names for them.  I’m stuck on naming a couple of the colors, so I’ll probably have a “name that color” contest soon to get some help.  I’m also working with Reni and Laura on the labels and packaging for the paint, which has been such a great process so far. The paint will be sold in my space at Lucketts and also online.  It’s in a powder form, so it’s easy and inexpensive to ship.  I’ll be setting up an online shop soon, to sell the paint, t-shirts and some of my finds and creations.  My parents are moving here in a couple of months and my dad is going to help me with managing the online shop and all of the shipping.  I’ll also have short video tutorials on my blog, showing how to use the milk paint.  I’ll hold your hand through everything from mixing the paint, using washing techniques, distressing, creating custom colors, and more.    Crazy exciting, right?!?”

This is the board I used to test out my initial color mixes!  The cool thing is I already had an established palette in my head and it was just a matter of creating it, so I could communicate it to others.

Reading the words I initially posted made me smile.  What I wrote felt huge to me at the time, but in hindsight, I see how small those ideas really were.  My actual plan was that my family and I would pack and ship the paint from my unfinished 1940’s basement.   And I had saved about $5,000 to pay for the upfront investment.  I felt prepared and ready to launch my little line.

I wish, oh how I wish, the comments on many of my old posts (including that one) weren’t lost in platform moves and updates that have happened over the years!  I remember several readers predicting this was going to be my big idea.  One even said it would be my “million dollar idea”.  I accepted the compliments and enthusiasm and went about moving my small plans forward.

Meanwhile, my inbox started filling with inquiries from shop owners who wanted to carry my paints in their store.  I remember thinking that was a little bigger than my initial plan and I hadn’t even thought of how to do that, but sure!  I can make that work.  My optimism about my capacity to handle retailers carrying my paint disintegrated as a trickle of inquiries turned into a flood.  I had 50 retailers ready to invest in my paint…and I didn’t even have a logo or color palette, yet!  And my $5,000 capital was peanuts in comparison to the actual costs.  It was going to cost $5,000 just for one component of the packaging to support that kind of launch, not to mention the rest of the packaging, the raw materials, etc.  And I didn’t have a warehouse and I knew nothing about logistics at this level.

I was reduced to a mound of tears.  I can’t do this.  It’s too big.  It’s not what I planned.  I am so out of my depth.

Fortunately, Homestead House could see the potential.  They stepped in offered to be the distributor as well as the manufacturer.  They also allowed me to pay for all of the start-up costs out of my profits from the initial orders.

And so the journey started.  I navigated my way through packaging, labeling, branding, developing a color palette, managing retailers, and experiencing a real-life crash course on launching a product line.

(This was the original line of 12 colors on our color card.)

For the original packaging, I was stuck on using a box.  I wanted it to feel like customers were opening a present.  So, this was the very first packaging for the line…

I still love it to this day.

The expense and impracticality of it became evident shortly after our launch.  We had to have stickers printed individually for each box.  In addition, the process was – put the paint in a bag, seal the bag, put a sticker on the bag, put craft fill in the box, put an instruction card in the box, put the paint in the box, put the sticker on the box, close and seal the box.

We switched to – put the paint in the bag, seal the bag.

It was a compromise and a win as well as a lesson in minimizing labor and lowering volume shipping costs.

Since our launch, we’ve added colors and retired colors.  Our palette has grown from 12 to 25.

We created and self-published two look books.

Our branding and packaging has gone through updates and revamps…

We have made several commercials, including my two favorite – “The Yellow Dress & the Dresser”

…and “Prove Yourself Wrong”…

I’ve also made dozens of video tutorials and our retailers have taught thousands of workshops all over the world.  I personally have taught workshops in Canada, Italy, and from California to New Hampshire, and several places in between.

And I have painted so many pieces of furniture that I’ve lost count.  It’s probably at least 1,000 pieces.

This paint line has been one of the biggest surprises in my business.  It started out with a passion for painting furniture and it grew into a brand that exceeded all of my expectations.

So, I need to say a huge thank you.  Thank you to everyone who joined me on this journey and made it successful.  Thank you to everyone who invested in this line, who purchased it, who attended a workshop, who watched a tutorial, and who gave this quirky powdered paint a chance.

And I need to say a big thank you to the team who helps me manage the line – Wendy, Heidi, Jenn, and Chris.  You are all awesome and make all of this possible.

Thank you!

And, it wouldn’t be a proper birthday party without presents, so I’m offering up an awesome present to one reader.  We are giving away a prize package of seven products from our line.  The winner can pick seven quarts of paint or mix and match products.  (For example – two quarts of paint, a Furniture Wax, a Zinc Wax, Hemp Oil, Bonding Agent, and a brush.)  You get the idea.  It’s the winner’s choice.

To enter, just leave a comment on this post.  If you do have a “milk paint memory” to share, I would love to hear it, otherwise, let me know which colors or products you’d like to try.  The giveaway is open worldwide and will close Sunday, April 28, 2019, at midnight PST.

      What a wonderful story.

I for one am very thankful for your pie in the sky idea! Milk paint is just so versatile, it can be used as paint or as a wash in place of stain. Three years ago I decided to paint my kitchen cabinets, trophy on the bottom and iron stone on top ones. They turn out just beautiful and look as good today as they did when I first finish ed them. I have painted several things and have never been disappointed with any of the colors. Happy 7th Anniversary!

    2. Yvonne Bullinger

Happy 7th Birthday! I am a life long vintage picker & painter. It started as a middle schooler who painted her vanity. Now I love to re-imagine pieces. MIss Mustard Seed paint, wax & hemp oil are my favorites. What a game changer. I love mixing colors & making just enough paint for my latest project. Cheers to many more years & new colors.

Ooh, how exciting! I just bought an old chest I am thinking of waxing with one of your products. I would like to try the oil, brushes and probably the type writer paint. Congratulations!

    4. Susan

I don’t have a Milk Paint story, other than I Want To Try It! My first prone t will be an armoir, and the color will be Typewriter!

    5. Desiree M Clark

Thanks for sharing your story, love it!

    6. Andrea Lewis

Congratulations on 7 years. I have always wanted to try your paint and now I think I will. Thanks for sharing your story.
      Andrea

      • Jennifer Vencill

        Congrats on 7 years!

I bought some of your milk paint a year or so ago, but I played it safe and went with a pale greyish white. I’ve since bought a house, and I’m working on building out an art studio in the garage. I would love to try out a bolder color on the as-yet-unbuilt cabinet fronts that will be on one wall!

        • Laura

Happy Birthday! I would love to try milk paint on something!

    7. Jody Findlay

      I’ve enjoyed following your journey!

    8. Rita

I’m so happy for you and have enjoyed following your journey. Thank you for sharing your creativity and being an inspiration to us amateurs. I love all the colors but Luckets Green and Typewriter gets me every time.

    9. Lora

I have enjoyed watching your business evolve…congratulations on 7 years!

    10. Wendy Jo

I remember when I first discovered your line, at Lucketts. I tried other paints and wax similar to yours in the past, but once I used Milk Paint, the others have simply just dried up in my world. May your creativity continue to inspire us on your wonderful journey for many years to come.

    11. Dawn Olander

So Inspirational…. thank you for sharing your beautiful story. I don’t have a milk paint story yet…. but LOVE your mural from the amazing wallpaper designer and hope to emulate one day.

    12. Patty

      Love your milk paint! Congrats!

    13. Amber T.

I love reading your blog and seeing the project you work on. You are very inspiring. I would like to try your furniture wax. My husband is a woodworking novice but has made some nice project and I think the furniture wax would work very well on some of them. Congrats!

    14. Cat Hyder

Congratulations!!! I’ve never used Milk Paint before, but have admired your work & blog for a while now. I do have a dresser, that was mine as a child, that I’ve wanted to redo for a long time. It’s plain, solid, sealed wood with wood pulls. I’d love try a few colors of the paint & something to seal it with! Thanks so much for the opportunity to win & for the steady source of inspiration – I eagerly await your posts!

    15. Marsha

Hi Marian!! I first started painting after having my 4th child and moving cross country to a new duty station where my oldest had major surgeries with major complications due to his spina bifida.(whew! very short version!) After going thru so much I felt a little lost. I found your paint in a local shop and I took the Milk Paint 101 class that they offered and I was hooked! I didn’t even realize I could paint! Finding my love of painting furniture helped me find myself! While stationed in Maryland I was blessed to meet you at Lucketts! Thank you for inspiring me 🙂
      ~Marsha

    16. Lynn Osborne

Wow! What an amazing story. Congratulations! I’ve never painted furniture but have two pieces that are waiting for me to conjure up enough bravery to give it a try. Would love to try your products. Thanks for the chance to win!

    17. Emily Bennett

Yay! I’ve loved every color I’ve tried so far… but I can’t bring myself to seal them. I love that flat finish and don’t want to change the color with anything! My baby girls room door is arabesque and her toddler bed is mustard seed yellow. Accents in my boys room are boxwood. I’ve tried a few others around the house, all winners. ♡

    18. Valerie

Congratulations on a successful 7 years!! I love your furniture makeovers!

    19. Betsy

Congratulations! I love the color choices in the paint. I would like to try the lavender furniture wax and the brushes. Also, Eulalie’s sky!

    20. Susan

I remember when you made the announcement. I have so enjoyed following along on your journey. Congratulations on 7 amazing years.

    21. Susan Guynes

I was a fan of yours long before I got my hands on a package of your milk paint. My first purchase involved over an hour drive with my daughter to get it. My intention was to get Farmhouse White and some hemp oil. This changed when my daughter saw your color line. She insisted my grandmothers chairs that had lived in my garage her entire life deserved to be painted with Eulalies Sky. So I ended up buying both colors, hemp oil and Toughcoat. The chairs that no one wanted were soon popular with the whole family. They ended up going to my niece when I got an unbelievable garage sale deal on some Nichols and Stone chairs. When my daughter saw the chairs she said “Tricycle!” Can you guess what color they were painted?

    22. Mills

Oh, how wonderful; congratulations, and what fabulous changes in the packaging from then to now!

I L.O.V.E. Eulalies’ Sky and French Enamel, with Ironstone and Linen. That’s what I’d painted several small antique tables I purchased from auctions, then resold – and they sold very quickly! Now that I no longer buy to sell, I need to repaint some bookcases.
Thanks for this chance. I’d love to try the hemp oil and furniture wax…along with the 4 paints above!

    23. Lynn

Artisimo, kitchen scale and grain sack if you please… would love to win this prize package!

    24. Ellen Dugosh

I’d love to try milkpaint on my fireplace bricks. I also have some other furniture that would be great to repaint like the coffee table, headboard, the list goes on and on!

      Happy Anniversary/Birthday!

    25. beverlee lyons

because of you, I painted many, many pieces of furniture, before retiring. I am among the many, many ladies who learned from you that ‘we can’. I do believe with all my heart that you alone started the whole process of ladies, young and old, painted beautiful things for profit and for our homes. Not enough thank yous out there…I want to try Eulalie’s Sky…such a delightful color, I wish you would used it more.

    26. Tracey Schaefer

I love your blog. I would like to try linen milk paint and hemp oil.

    27. Janet in Kansas City

Love your blog and your furniture makeovers so much. If I won I would pick bergere, farmhouse white maybe luckett’s green paint and hemp oil?
You make everything look so easy, but I just love following along!

      • Janet in Kansas City

I painted a coat rack in ironstone. My friend built it for me and used antique glass door knobs i had rescued from being thrown out for the hooks. I can’t figure out how to attach a picture or I would.

    28. Wendy

Congratulations! I have not tried milk paint yet, but I do love painted furniture. The colors you have are dreamy and I just love everything you do from decor to painting pictures to furniture. Keep up the inspiring blog and business!

    29. Eileen Fitzgerald

      Congratulations on 7 years!

    30. Becca

Love your blog and love your milk paint! I’ve enjoyed mixing the chalkboard color with boxwood and artisimmo. Wish I could find lavender and apron strings. And, I’d love to be brave enough to paint an old sewing machine in tricycle! Ironstone is a fave, along with farmhouse white. I’m working up the nerve to try my hand at a mural chest. None of this would even occur to me if I hadn’t run across your inspirational blog and paint. Your before and after furniture makeovers and home updates of both house spur me on to be more creative in my own home. So, Happy 7th Birthday!

    31. Mary

For years now, I’ve been itching to try your milk paint and this might be my chance! Every time you paint something with typewriter, I’m drawn to it. It’s so hard to get a “true” black paint colour but I think typewriter nails it. I also love the mix of colours you use to achieve the chalkboard finish. Congratulations on your success!

    32. Elle

Congratulations on 7 years! I remember that first post. I would love to get the right piece for Boxwood, or maybe Flow Blue with Hemp Oil on the top. I admire all you’ve accomplished in (more than) 7 years.

    33. Susan

I wish I could remember when I first began reading your blog, but it has been a long time. Your talents have taken you far and I am never, ever surprised when I see what new, creative and inspiring products flow from you. It’s been a joy to follow you and your positive, supportive words have inspired many, many of your readers. Happy Birthday!

    34. Tracey

Congratulations on 7 years. I have tried many colours and love them all. Proud to know its made in Canada!

    35. Sheila

Happy 7th Birthday!!! Here’s to many more years of wonderful colors and ideas! My guest bathroom vanity will be getting a coat of Typewriter in another week so I’m very excited about that. I have another side table that I’ve not picked a color for, but am looking forward to that. Congratulations to your whole Miss Mustard Seed Family and to you, Jeff and the boys as well!

    36. Carmen

Love your story! I’ve used some sort of milk paint (can’t remember the name) once in the past & wasn’t very pleased with the final outcome. Now that I’m officially retired I’m wanting to give it another try on a cedar chest my parents gave me for my high school graduation. I love the look you give to your pieces and the great information you share!

    37. Holly

Congratulations! That is a great story. I have never used milk paint and have become very interested in learning. I have some great old furniture pieces that would have a new life with a little refresh. My favorite colors are ironstone, French enamel and lucketts green. Thanks for all of your inspiration!

    38. Yvonne

Finally a contest open to us Canadians! Yay! I have an orangey, heavy lacquered pine hutch that would look great in “linen”. And so can totally relate to your video, “prove yourself wrong”. Love, love, love your blog Marian!

    39. Miki Reid

I started following you a couple years ago and I’ve purchased my first few pieces of Ironstone and Transferware. I’m scouting my local area regularly for a couple pieces of furniture (dresser and a hutch). Going through a divorce at 52 and living in my Mom’s spare bedroom(my husband has all our furniture and found out he has sold most of it). Starting over with nothing…I have always loved old furniture(I grew up with it/my Mom had such a cool house) and your blog and Instagram has inspired me! I know I want to try the milk paint and I definitely want Flow Blue AND a lighter color(for inside of hutch) but not sure which lighter color the other items; brush, wax, hemp oil…whatever you would suggest for my first 2 pieces! Thank you for all that you do to inspire!

    40. Stephanie

I have a table that needs to be stripped and painted! It’s just calling for some Miss Mustard Seed paint!

Congratulations on this big anniversary! How exciting! I sure wonder what God has in store for you in the next 7 years!!

    41. Lisa in NC

Congratulations Marian!! Happy 7th Birthday! I used Farmhouse White on a small piece. I have never painted furniture before and it was so easy. I loved it. I would love to try the hemp oil and bonding agent, as well as some other colors. Also I am the lucky owner of the chalkboard dresser with the alphabet on it in the picture above. I snagged it when you had it at Lucketts. I took a road trip from NC the night before and was like 3rd in line Friday morning. I was so excited to get it. It still looks beautiful and the letters are still intact. I love your blog. It’s the only one I read. I look forward to it for inspiration daily. Have a great weekend!!

    42. Fran

Congrats on 7 years! So young! Has been so fun watching your journey! Flow Blue still my favourite colour ever! Enjoy using milk paint because of the pigment and surprises you see as you work. Milk paint has a life of its own! Love it! ?

    50. Kari O'Connor

Congratulations! What a fine accomplishment! I have a bookshelf just waiting for my time and a little milkpaint. It’s currently 70s ivory and gold (no thanks!) and I want to paint it white with a blue backing. I also have some tired picture frames that could use a fresh look with milk paint and hemp oil. It would be great to win!

      Hi Marian,

I have been following your blog for YEARS, and have learned so much! I first heard of this thing called “milk paint” from you, and would love to paint this amazing old radio cabinet I found on the curb in Miss Mustard Seed’s milk paint in Typerwriter! Thank you for everything you taught me.

    54. Kristen

This is a great story of you doing “the next right thing” (highly recommend that podcast by the way) to get your business going. I’m fairly new to your blog and have enjoyed your art both furniture and canvases. The milk paint intrigues me and I’d love to paint a dresser in grainsack.

    55. betty

    61. Karen

Absolutely love the “Prove Yourself” video! So see myself in every statement. I found your paint in a wonderful little store in Austin, Tx a few years ago. My first try was an unfinished desk in Kitchen Scale. Loved the results so I tackled a hutch/TV cabinet that I had purchased years before and had proudly stained in maple. It is now also Kitchen Scale. Both are being used for in my home office. I’ve been following you ever since. Your paint is wonderful and your willingness to share you life and your dreams with us is inspirational.

    62. Patrice Burchett

My first experience was on a thrifted end table and I loved it! I was so scared when I started painting ,but it ended so well! I would like Luckett’s green and ironstone! So happy for you!

    63. Carol Mayne

How incredible to celebrate a birthday like this! I don’t have any milk paint stories. I do have a have a non-milk paint fail that is desperately in need of your paints!

    64. Judy

I have loved following your blog and would love to try your paint!!

    65. Cindy

Congratulations on this milestone, and THANKS for the inspiration, the role modeling, the humble and honest communications as you share your life. Not sure what project is waiting for me, but I hope I prove to be as brave as you! There are several places I want to try your hemp oil someday.

      Blessings!

    66. Alison S

I have loved using your milk paint. I still have a couple of the original boxes around my house that I use to help organize drawers. It’s my favorite paint to work with!

    67. Charlotte Estabrooks

Happy Birthday and congratulations on your hard work…and success!

    68. Kim

Congratulations on 7 years! I don’t remember how I discovered your blog but am so glad I did! I have painted a few pieces and absolutely love your milk paint — Artissimo and Bergere are my two leading favorites. I would love to try Eulalie’s Sky with a dresser this summer and finishing it with the Lavender Wax or Top Coat. Oh, and I was thrilled to see you move much closer to my hometown of St. Paul. : ) Many thanks for your courage in pursuing your dream.

    69. Mary

Love all you do. The colors are simply gorgeous.

    70. Pamela

I remember that cute yellow dress yellow dresser video like you made it yesterday! You were (and are) adorable. And remember how genius it was to paint spindles in your paint colors. Not sure I could pick a favorite as so many are great depending on what use you have in mind but I really love that boxwood. BTW I just adore that tree of life fabric you designed that has Early American roots, pun not intended.

    71. Sarah

Happy Birthday!! your color palette makes my heart sing! I thought the first twelve were perfect but the 25 color palette “wreath” in the post – swoon-worthy!!! the red of tricycle and orange of petticoat just make those greens and blues come alive! here’s to making future milk paint memories!

    72. Heather

I just painted two pieces from my parents with MMSP and holy wow, they look amazing! The feel and look of milk paint is extraordinary!

    73. Crystal Chandler

      Happy milk paint birthday!

    74. Lisa

What a story, and how wonderful that your dream came true. Congratulations and happy birthday!

    75. Angela

My crazy mild paint story was the day I decided to try mixing my paint with a hand held immersion blender and a plastic cup. : ( Oh ya. I was mixing flow blue, and as soon as I put the blender in the cup and hit the on button it cut a perfect circle out of the bottom of the cup and milk paint flowed out all over my counter and on to the floor. I was in shock…..was in between screaming, crying and laughing….. I was a bit paralyzed, I didn’t know what to do. I ended up wiping it all up with paper towel. I have tried all the products but could definitely use a new stash. Congratulations on 7 years!

    76. Thora Shannon

I love hearing how your dream grew and grew from when you first conceived of milk paint!

    77. Terri Barton

Wow what a fantastic giveaway! I would live the paint, tough coat & I can’t decide! Thanks for the chance!!

I still have several rooms to complete, so I’m crossing my fingers and toes to win the wonderful prize.
      Thanks for creating this line!

    82. Christie

Love the story, one of my favorite things about your paint line are the names you’ve chosen for each color! Would love to try the boxwood green, you really nailed the color!

    83. Kristel

I love your blog and have recently moved into an old farmhouse. You inspire me so much. I have lots of brown furniture – many are old antiques that are dying to be painted. ? I have never used milk paint, but I want to!

    84. Kate

      Really love your paint colors.

    85. Shannon Van Sluytman

I have used several of your colors of milk paint over the years on furniture that always turns out rich in color and with silky smooth finish. Not sure why, but I’ve never had much chipping with the Milk paint, maybe the high humidity where I live or just the pieces I work on. But my favorite product is the hemp oil. I’ve used it to seal the milk paint, hydrate wood, refresh my cutting board, put it on a leather purse that was tired looking, and even put it on a leather recliner I found at a thrift store that had seen better days, and looked almost new again after a simple wipe down with hemp oil. Congratulations on 7 years, I remember reading the announcement and can’t wait to see what the next 7 years brings your way.

    86. Keri Hainsworth

Been following you a while now, and I love seeing all the beautiful pieces painted with your milk paint on IG! I can’t wait to try flow blue, and all shades of blue and gray!!! Congratulations on such s special anniversary!!

    87. Kim

It is all so exciting. I love your story! I have yet to use milk paint, though I love to paint furniture and always have a chair or two kicking around to work on. I think I would have to try Boxwood! And the hemp oil, I’ve always been curious about that.

    88. Sara Ellis

I fell in love with Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint a few years ago. The color palette is wonderful! Happy 7th Birthday, and thank you for sharing your story with us. Looking forward to picking up a new (for me) color. Cheers!

    89. Joyce

Thanks for sharing your story. I enjoyed reading it. I have never tried milk paint but would love to. We live in an old home (built in 1916), and I have recently begun redoing one room at a time. It has been fun but it’s hard work. We have a lot of old family pieces that we love using. I would also love to try your wax and hemp oil.

    90. Karen Holleman

I just finished painting an antique Farrier’s box in Boxwood. It was the perfect piece for your milk paint! I let the paint sit in between coats so that the colors within the paint would separate a bit. It has small light patches of yellow giving it an age patina!

    91. Ceci

Happy Birthday to Milk Paint! Way to see your dream through! Blessings.

    92. Karen Degiorgis

I don’t yet have a milk paint story but I hope to soon!

Would love to try Boxwood or Ironstone.
      Fingers crossed!
      I love your blog!

    93. Coco

When my Granny passed away I got an old chippy dresser she used to keep all her tools in. It was a weird yellow so when I finally got up the nerve to paint it, I chose Marzipan. It’s really beautiful now and every time I see it, I think of her. Happy Birthday!

    94. Teresa Hayes-Balooshi

Congratulations!! So exciting to have an idea that becomes a reality and takes off as yours has. I have been reading your blog for about 4 years now and love to see your painted furniture. I have only used your hemp oil and it is an amazing product. I use it on most of my old furniture to give it life and keep the wood moist. I want you to know that I have sewn since I was in 7th grade, worked in a fabric store in high school and college and have a love for all types of fabrics. Your two collections are just beautiful. Good for you for not being upset about the 2nd collection and making lemonade out of lemons. You have an amazing entrepreneurial spirt.

    95. Steph

I have only been a reader of your blog for a short time, but I have been inspired by you—both as a person and as an artist/designer/decorator, etc. I’ve never tried Milk Paint before, but have recently tackled my first few refinishing jobs on older furniture and have realized it’s not as bad or scary as I thought it would be—but I have a lot of room for improvement and hope to tackle more projects in the future. Congrats on celebrating 7 years of MMSMP!!

    96. Melissa

I’d love to try the hemp oil! Love your blog!

    97. Susan K

Congratulations! As a longtime reader, I remember that announcement. As soon as I saw Artissimo, I bought it and used it to paint a pair of twin beds that my sons still sleep in. It’s a beautiful color. That same package has gone a long way – I’ve shared it with friends, and mixed it with your other samples to make endless colors! Best wishes for many more years.

    98. Heather

I have some upcoming projects to do this summer and cannot wait to use your products for them!

    99. Cindy in Oklahoma

Happy Birthday! What a fantastic prize…. crossing my fingers over here and dreaming about Bergere….

    100. Tori

Congratulations! I personally adore your milk paint. Your paint opened up a whole new world for me. I’ve painted multiple projects in varying colors from Farm White to Artissimo, but my favorite is my daughter’s dresser painted from top to bottom and inside and out with Apron Strings. It makes my heart happy every time I walk in her room all these years later. ❤️

    101. Kimberly

Happy Birthday, Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint! Aren’t April birthdays the best? 🙂

Marian, I’ve been reading your blog for a very long time now, well before your idea for the milk paint, and it’s just so amazing and thrilling to see you and your brand grow so much! It couldn’t happen to a nicer, more inspiring person.

I love all the colors of the milk paint, they just have that certain something that speaks to the soul of those of us who love vintage and antique things. It’s like they come from a different time, they have a feeling of history to them. Personally, I love all things in the blues/greens/aquas/seaglass/turquoise/grays color range, anything that looks like it could’ve rolled in from high tide on some beautiful beach somewhere.

I’ve got two old wood tables that have awful latex paint finishes on them – I’m going to strip them both back to wood and am yearning to paint one of them Eulalie’s Sky, and do a gray wash on the other with a white wax finish. I cannot wait to get started!

Congratulations to you on this milestone!

    102. Carrie Purkis

Congratulations on a milestone! I think it was looking at your milk paint line which lead me to your blog. So glad for that, have learned new techniques and been inspired to try new ideas. thanks so much!

    103. Esther

Congratulation Marian. I like all things blue!!

    104. Meredith MacRitchie

I discovered your blog just as my husband and I were preparing to move into our house, which was pretty much original to 1969. It’s a typical family home, in a cul-de-sac; not the old farmhouse I dream of. But we are avid DIYers (much like you and Jeff!) and knew we could add charm and personality with some hard work and creative thinking.

The first room we tackled was the teeny tiny little ensuite. We decided pretty early on that we would build our own vanity to fit the space best.

By now, I had devoured your blog, pinned many of your ideas, and knew I loved and wanted to work with Milk Paint. I also knew my husband would be resistant to paint that looks old as soon as you apply it. So the only way I would be able to convince him to let me paint our vanity would be if it was my own project. If I was building it, how could he refuse my finish of choice?

He helped me learn how to use the saws I was afraid of, and how to properly build a vanity box that was strong enough to hold a sink and faucet and all that a bathroom needs. I stained the pieces impatiently so I could get to the fun part of milk paint and chipping.

I have received so many compliments on my little vanity and so many people don’t believe me when I say I built it; they can’t believe it isn’t an antique!

Thank you for sharing so much inspiring content, and helping me discover my inner furniture painter. Congratulations on your anniversary and I’m sure what will be many more years to come!!

    105. Vonne

Congratulations! A long time blog reader here, I find great inspiration in your writing and photography. I think some of the boxwood paint, hemp oil and antiqueing wax would be at the top of my list…..

    106. Susan

Happy Birthday Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint! Success could not have come to a more deserving person. I am a long time blog reader, love your work, writing, products and everything about you! Congratulations!

      • Jolene

I love the colours of your milk paints. They are indeed fresh, and such fun to use. Congratulations on 7 years!

    107. Roxie

Your colors are truly wonderful. I’ve loved watching the evolution of your “baby”!

      • Tina

Your blog is the most inspiring, positive and uplifting one around! I’m an avid reader and actually live in an old farmhouse in France, but have never seem to have the confidence to start painting.

    108. Connie

How exciting to be celebrating 7 years – Congratulations!! If I were lucky enough to win this wonderful gift, I would choose Boxwood, Typewriter, Mustard Seed Yellow, Kitchen Scale., Hemp Oil, a brush & some wax. Thanks for sharing; got my furniture pieces lined up & ready fir their make-overs!

    109. Ande

Congrats! It’s been so fun following your journey.

    110. Frieda

WOW! This post is inspiring to say the least … You have been in so many ways an instrument in my own walk as an entrepreneur. Your slogan “Move Mountains in you home” was the draw for me. Your rawness on your blogs is what keep me coming back … CONGRATULATIONS on STEPPING out of the boat into a calling that is not just moving mountains in our homes, but more than what you really know! Thank you for inspiring us and good luck with the next seven years of your line, may it be more rewarding!

    111. Susan

I’m ready to take the plunge and paint my great grandfather’s desk. I’ve seen enough of your projects to trust that it will turn out great!

      • REBECCA NELSON

Congratulations and happy birthday! I would love to try your paint on several pieces in my home….my grandmother-in-law’s blanket chest for starters.

    112. Terri W.

Congratulations on seven years and an amazing journey! I’ve read your blog for years – can’t even remember where I first heard about you – and am always so impressed by what you’ve accomplished and by your sense of style and your talent. Can’t wait to see what you come up with next!

If chosen, I’d like just what you listed in this post – a couple of paint colors, and the waxes, brush, etc. to go with them. I have a buffet that is calling out for Linen, and I’d love a touch of Eulalie’s Sky in my home. My first MMS Milk Paint purchase was Typewriter. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!

    113. Cecily

I cannot believe it has been 7 years!! I love Miss Mustard Seeds Milk Paint!! I have used it many times and will use it a million more. I taught a group of women in a local congregation here where I live how to use your milk paint. I taught the many diverse looks that can be created/achieved by using your waxes, bonding agent, hemp oil, as well as what happens when you paint raw wood as opposed to furniture that has some kind of finish on it. I, of course, referred them to your blog and to your own tutorials. It was such a fun night!!

We just recently finished our basement and I was able to use the bottom half of my late grandmother’s hutch for our bathroom sink cabinet. I used milk paint because I wanted the chippy, vintage look. The hutch is beautiful!!

Thank you for being brave and sharing your talents and dreams with the world!!!

    114. Sandy B

I recently moved to a new house. I have several pieces of shabby antique furniture that need some love. I have been following you on Bloglovin & want to try your products. I will need the basics to use on a bench & old dresser. I want to use black or dark green paint.
      Love what you do!

    115. Melanie

Happy Birthday Marian and a big hello from germany!!!

So far I have tried “only” about 7 colors of your line, but they are the colors I love most. Blues, greens, whites, typewriter AND tricycle. Tricycle was actually my very first project, because I am very drawn to a nice accent of red as a single “standout” piece. I painted a small dresser and since I had so much powder left I also painted a kitchen chair and a side entrance door of our house that leads to an attached guestroom. Ever since we call it the “red room”. I love milkpaint! It´s not so well known in germany though 🙂

    116. Sonja

Congratulations to you and your family and your team. You have made the world a more colourful and happy place.

    117. Lori

Good morning! I have tried so many of the colors and love them all? my favorite is Typewriter….this month?

    118. Ruth in NZ

Congratulations on 7 years of putting in thd hard work which living dreams requires. I would love to try milk paint and hemp oil. Who knew you would have people on the other side of the world wanting to try your paint line!

    119. Kendra Laidlaw

Congratulations of 7 years of MMSP! Not sure which color I would choose, but my daughter and I have enjoyed using your paint and toughcoat. I would love to win 7 products!!!

    120. Sue

      Marian,
I remember the excitement and the fun of seeing milk paint in beautiful colors. I have used milk paint for years, but your colors opened up a whole new world of possibilities. Happy, happy anniversary MMS Milk Paint!

    121. Hélène

Happy Birthday Miss Mustard Seed !

I’m French and I’ve been following your blog for quite a while from France, enjoying your journey through your art, painting furniture, embellishing your home and sharing it all with us.
You inspire me and encourage me to give some new life to old family heirlooms in my home, starting with my grandmother’s buffet and dining table. All these dark furniture do need some lighter color some time !
I love all your beautiful milk paint colors but mostly Tricycle,Layla’s mint and Grain Sack.
And would love to try your Hemp oil and Antiquing wax.

Congratulations and thank you for the inspiration you give around you.
      Kind regards,
      Hélène

    122. Deb McK

I cannot believe it has been seven years! I love MMS milk paint. My memory is meeting (and purchasing) from you when you came to Pike Road, Alabama many years ago. Do you remember the market was held in the ‘chapel’ on the hill? Thanks for the opportunity at a fabulous anniversary prize. Much continued success to you.

    123. Nancy

Wow! What a great story. Congratulations to you and your business. I started painting about 3 years ago and fell on Miss Mustard Seed. I thought your company had been around for years. I’ve always been drawn to milk paint but I’ve never used it. I love the colors and techniques of painting with it. I will be trying it in the future for sure. I love everything you do, from painting furniture and your style. Your home is perfection in my eyes. Again congratulations ?. You’ve worked so hard…

    124. Mary

      Congrats! Amazing and inspiring story!
      Mary

    125. Cindy Ellicott

Hi Marian, Conratulations from PA! I’ve watched your journey since meeting your Mom at Grandparents Day at ACCA way back when☺️. I was so intrigued with talking to your Mom that I found your blog (I had never read one before that) and went all the way back to the very beginning and read every single one. I was so inspired by your ambition and your “just try it” approach! So I did!!! I’ve painted pieces myself now and am a die hard “Miss Mustardseed” fan. I’ve enjoyed watching you fix your new home but still think of you as a PA gal! Best wishes to you and your family!!!

    126. Darleen

Happy Birthday, lucky 7! The best is yet to come!

    127. Barbara Redman

I think I am right in remembering you have family in the Raleigh, NC area. Will you be having workshops in that area at some point? I’m about 3 hours away and would love to be able to come to a workshop?

    128. Jeannine

i would love to try hemp oil! congrats to you on this anniversary1

    129. Jenn

Congratulations! I followed your blog for a long time before I worked up the courage to paint a dresser in Artissimo. I loved it and have painted other pieces since then. I love your fabulous product and am thankful it comes with your patient instruction, encouragement and inspiration.

    130. Mel

The first time I bought your milk paint, I used it to paint my new spinning wheel. I used Mora, Arabesque and a little bit of linen for the details. I still think those are my 3 favorite colors, but Boxwood and Tricycle and Artissimo are not far behind. I love painting furniture, but must confess since opening my tea room, my paint brushes have been collecting dust.

    131. Joyce

Happy Birthday!! So exciting!! I have enjoyed your blog since I discovered it maybe five years ago. So happy for you. I enjoy your make overs. May you, your business and your family continue to be blessed. Celebration time!

    132. Mary

Wow–7 years–CONGRATULATIONS!!! How I love, love your products. I have tried almost all of them I think, and I am constantly purchasing more. In fact, I am constantly running out of hemp oil. They have transformed many pieces of furniture in my home. Presently I am sanding and prepping a china cabinet but am still at the “what color” stage of the process. I actually convinced my husband to rearrange our annual Spring southern trip to include Lucketts the last year you attended. My son and family live in Minneapolis…so maybe I will get to Junk Bonanza someday too!

And…you are one of the 3 artists that served as my inspiration to start drawing and painting in watercolor–which has turned into what I believe will be a “for the rest of my life passion.” So thank you for all you do, share, and for just being you!

    133. Crystal S

Congratulations on the success of your milk paint line. Your bravery is an inspiration! You inspired me to paint many pieces of dull furniture in our home. I would love to win Eulalies Sky, Kitchen Scale, and Shutter Gray milk paint, hemp oil, zinc wax, furniture wax and the bonding agent. Thank you for sharing your talent!

    134. Ruth

It seems thst MMS milkpaint has been around longer than 7 years! Congratulations! I’ve used a couple of your colors, still have products from my first purchase in the cute box!?. Wanting to try the blue colors next. Thanks for all the inspirations you give.
      Fan from the beginning. Ruth.

    135. Vida

Congratulations and Happy Birthday to your Milk Paint line!! Your creativity and diligence inspires me. Your blog is such a delight to read! Shutter gray and dried lavender are lovely colors. And I’d love to try your hemp oil. It’s amazing how it brings tired wood back to life! Thank you for your daily inspiration and for hosting this giveaway too!

    136. Catherine

Would love to try this one day! Have a few old pieces that could use some love.

Congratulations on the anniversary. Women entrepreneurs- yay!

    137. Cyndi

Happy Birthday! I remember when you rolled out the line of paints and can’t believe it’s been 7 years. I’ve also used your paint on several pieces of furniture and would love to paint several more!

    138. Linda

Congratulations and Happy Birthday to Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint line!!! I have to tell you Marian that you were the first engine search that came up when I decided a few years ago to enter the world of furniture painting and distressing! I must have watched your videos over and over again, watching your explanations and techniques. Thank you for all that you have taught us over the years about the process of how to change the look of a piece of furniture through paint and distressing!

    139. Mary Anne

Congratulations! I can’t believe it’s been 7 years. Love your blog and your products. Love all your colors and would like to try the zinc wax as I haven’t used it.

    140. Jill

Congratulations on the milk paint success! I love hearing how small dreams become big realities. I’ve used the typewriter color for a couple of projects, along with the hemp oil, and I have an idea for using artissimo on a small cabinet. The color choices are completely wonderful!

    141. Kelly

      Thanks for the inspiration!

    142. Jane Cisneros

Congratulations, Marian! I found your blog about a year ago, I believe, and went back to the beginning to read all of your entertaining posts. I love your style, your projects, and eagerly await each new blog post. Years ago, I painted a few small tables picked up at auction, but have never used milk paint. With my father-in-law’s passing, we have inherited several new/old pieces to refinish so this giveaway would be fun to win. Thank you for the never ending inspiration … even when I’m curled up on the couch in my jammies with no chance of a project happening!

      • Melanie Bollentino

        Congrats & Happy 7th MMS!

I continue to be entralled with your amazing products and am entertained with your Instagram and blog posts!

When I decided to make over my very first furniture project, I researched milk paint and found MMS.

Using Bergere and Curio I was able to successfully transform my piece into a lovely coffee bar. I finished the piece with MMS white was and hemp oil.

Following your tutorials makes it so much easier.

Favorite all time MMS product? Hemp oil by far and the waxing brush, both so indispensible

Expecting great things in the future!!!

    143. Katherine

Congratulations and happy 7th birthday! Your website is my daily bread; it feeds me with inspiration and hope when I see all the beautiful things you share with the world. Keep up the great work!

    144. Maggie

Congratulations! I My your mom’s age, or older, and I celebrate your progress as I would my own children. I’m proud of your drive, your creativity and most of all, your “ pluck”! Best wishes for continued success.

    145. Terry A.

Happy 7th birthday!! I for sure would have to pick boxwood and typewriter, and from there it would be hard to narrow it down! Thanks for all of your inspiration, and here’s to many more years!

    146. Jenny Denton

Thousands of comments and I’m sure I won’t win. But I did want to tell you my Miss Mustard Seed memory. When my husband and I trekked from Phoenix to Baltimore for his work, I rented a car and spent an entire day at Luckett’s and the surrounding area–just to see your booth. And then, a few years later when I treated my dad to a trip to DC and Gettysburg, I brought him out for a day. I learned to value “old junk” (as my mom calls it) from my dad, and he and I spent such a glorious day making memories as we dug through the old junk. The silver urn I bought that day at Luckett’s always reminds me of this incredible trip. Thanks for all you do and how you’ve touched lives of people you’ve never met. God bless.

    147. Bert

I been a follower for years and years. The highlight of any day is when I see a new post from you! I’ve painted many pieces of furniture over the years, and they are scattered throughout my home. However, I’ve never had the courage to use your milk paint.
I’m now doing a major remodel of my abode, and am looking forward to painting new to me furniture, and redoing some of my older projects that need a freshen up!
Many congrats on seven years in business – it seems like just yesterday that you launched! Where does the time go?

    148. LK Helton

I’ve been a long time follower and admire your work! Congratulations on seven years!

    149. Ginger Marshall

Wow! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! My 1st Milk Paint Memory was of painting a small hutch in Miss Mustard Seed Yellow. You had mentioned the “ugly stage” several times in your posts & tutorials, & I have to agree. After that first coat I wanted to pitch the hutch & the paint! I couldn’t believe I had ruined a perfectly good piece of furniture! But I persisted & added another coat a few days later. The hutch is now one of my favorite pieces! Bravo for your success & thank-you for your gift of MMSMP to the world!

    150. Sarah

Congratulations on turning 7!! I have a beautiful antique dresser that would look beautiful in Tricycle. I am planning on using your post on your Tricycle painted dresser to guide me along!

    151. Dee Guinn

Love those beautiful blues, the French enamel and the flow blue. Congratulations on the birthday!

    152. Jen

Love your paint! Congrats on seven awesome years.

    153. Joanna

Congrats on achieving your dream! You are inspiring!

    154. Cathy Roark

Congrats on this milestone! I have been reading your blog for years and have always felt we were friends who just hadn’t met in person yet. Blogs have come and gone and I think that your transparency is what makes yours so relevant.

Your product is wonderful! I have used it to paint a couple of side tables and a stepstool. I love that it is as easy as you demonstrate it to be.

Here’s to another 7 times 7 more years!

    155. Jo

HAPPY BIRTHDAY and CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I’ve never used milk before and I have a piece I’m going to try it on…can’t wait!

    156. Kimberly Smith

You are so inspirational! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us!

    157. Tracy Nowak

Congratulations on your anniversary! I love all of your colors as well as the hemp oil. I’ve been reading your blog for a while and, in addition to your paint line, I find your writing, sharing, decorating, and artwork so inspiring. Again – congratulations! …Thanks for sharing in your celebration….Ok, gotta go paint now! : )

    158. Cindy Musselman

      Congratulations!
      All your products are wonderful!
I think the only ones I haven’t tried are the waxes – zinc, furniture, white and black.
I so enjoy following you on all your endeavours. It is so interesting and heartwarming. Keep it coming! And all the best in the future!

    159. Rachel

Love your blog and all that I’ve learned and been inspired from it! I feel like I’ve gone through my own evolution of painting right along with you, from latex- chalk paint – milk paint. My favorite piece is an antique hutch that I painted boxwood with Lucketts underneath. It’s in a very central location of my home and I feel like it’s what gives my home all its personality! Just painted my great aunts dresser in Bergere for my twin daughters nursery- and the love continues. It’s perfect! Thank you for your bravery in moving forward on this!

    160. Helene Reid

I have been thinking of doing my kitchen table, which was my in laws dinning room table, and having your products would give me the final nudge. A great project to celebrate my 70th birthday. It has been fun watching you grow.

    161. Mary Ann

Happy Birthday Miss Mustard Seed milk paint!!
Seven years is a great accomplishment!!

      Carole

    164. Michelle, Three Oaks, MI

Happy 7th Birthday!!!!! Thank you for coming up with such a wonderful idea and having the BEST BLOG i’ve ever read! I remember ordering from your paint line and even ordered the brush you designed (still love it!) My 1st grandson Nash still uses the dresser I painted with Shudder Grey. It still looks incredible and now it’s shared with his little brother. Keep on doing your wonderful work and remaining a constant insperation!

    165. Kitty

Happy Birthday! I am most interested in trying out your hemp oil.

    166. Kendra

Congratulations !!!! I want to try them all. I have the farmhouse white and plan on painting my kitchen table this summer. We moved to a new house late last summer and have so many dreams and ideas of projects to do. Of course your milk paint line will make many of those dreams our reality. Thank you for your informative videos and blog.

    167. Jenn

Love your paint line. It’s really changed the way I decorate my home and is my go to paint. The “prove yourself wrong” video still brings a tear to my eye because before starting diying that was my exact thoughts (gonna end up in the trash) so it really has always hit home with me.

    168. Jackie

Been following you for a long time now! I love all your blue colors. Congratulations on your anniversary!

    169. Toni ehle

It really is MY birthday today too. I’d love to try out so many of your products. Congratulations on 7 years

    170. Tracy W.

Congratulations on all of your accomplishments! You’re an inspiration for many, especially moms like myself! I haven’t tried your milk paint products yet but have a project in mind. I’ve been nervous about painting our dining room chairs that we purchased when we married 18 years ago but the color is dated and this could be my chance to give them new life!

    171. Claudine

Congratulations! I love all your colors, especially the blues and greens. I had used milk paint in the 80s but found the colors very limited. You made milk paint fun again!

    172. Addie

Happy #7!!!! So happy for you!!! Mustard seed sized faith is truly all we really need and you did it!!! I have always felt you showed honesty and a love for the Lord in all you do and that is why you are so successful.
      Happy, Happy #7!!!
Here is to the next 40 years!!!
I love boxwood!!! I am a green girl!!!

    173. Charmaine

I love reading your blog! You’re such an inspiration to me ?. I would love to try your paint on a teacup shelf I was just given. It’s old and orangey brown now, but I can see the potential! Happy Birthday to your paint line ?

    174. Julie

Congratulations on 7 years in business!! You have proven that you have the perseverance to attain your dreams. If you should so happen to pick me as the winner, I would love to have your complete line with blue paint, please!!

    175. Bonnie Bryant

Happy birthday, MMS Milk Paint. The finish is fabulous!

    176. SusanC

I truly was blessed when I happened upon your blog. I gained enough confidence to paint a number of furniture and even strip the tops and stain them a dark walnut. I have blue and ivory in my areas of the home, but my aunt loves green so those pieces are in the living room.
Everyone likes what I have done. Thank you, God Bless you and a warm Happy Birthday to your amazing products.

    177. Carlotta Lee

I started reading your blog about 4 years ago-along with several other blogs. To date, yours is the only one of all that I started reading that I still read. I can’t wait to see what you will post each time I see your emails. I appreciate all of the things you get in to. I don’t know of anyone that can do all that you do-be a wife, mother, painter, sewer, woodworker….. God has truly blessed you with talents & gifts. Thank you for sharing.

    178. Melanie Bollentino

    179. JaneS

Wow, seven years! It seems like yesterday! Congrats on your well deserved success. I have two chests I want to paint for night tables. Which color?!?!?!? I want them all! And Hemp Oil, and the waxes, and the brushes… you get the idea! What a prize. Thanks for the chance to win. All the best!!

    180. Kristin

Congratulations! What an accomplishment! I really admire you in all that you do – writing the blog, your photography, all of the projects you do around the house, your painting AND on top of that, running a business!!!! Wow!

    181. Mary

Happy Birthday and Congratulations! I’m so glad I discovered your paint line because the chalk paint just wasn’t doing what I wanted it to do and then I discovered MMSMP and fell in love . I love each and every one of your colors ! My favorite always changes with my moods … but if I had to choose a favorite it would be Grainsack ❤️ I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you .

    182. Karen

Congratulations!! I love your milk paints, but can never decide on a color as I love them all!! Here’s to future successes for you!!

    183. Connie

Congratulations on your 7 year Anniversary! I love following your blog and seeing how you transform your home. Your style is my style along with every thing blue and white. Blessings!

    184. Krista

I have enjoyed watching this process over the years and have been inspired by the many furniture make overs . I have had my eye on some hemp oil for quite some time.

    185. JILL NELSON

Happy Birthday! I remember so well your paint line coming out! At the time, I didn’t paint furniture yet but I thought it was so amazing that someone so close to home had created their own line…but…I couldn’t get it here in Hanover! So close but so far away 🙂 I believe I went to Hagerstown to look for your paint the first time and then bought more from your booth at Luckett’s! It is so true – God’s plan are so much greater than ours when we put our faith and trust in Him! Congratulations!!

    186. Myra

I have read your blog for years!! I remember when you moved to your workshop/ business place, I’ve always been amazed at how much work you get done!! I like how your Mom encouraged you to get started in your blog. You can do anything!! The speed in which you’ve mastered your art work is mind-boggling!! I have two pieces of furniture I have in mind for milk paint!!

    187. Susan Beder

Happy Birthday and a much deserved congratulations! I have so enjoyed following
you on this journey. I love your products and have enjoyed using them. Boxwood is
one of my favorites as are linen, ironstone. Would be beyond thrilled to win.
You and your blog are a delight and your inspiration so appreciated. Thank you!

    188. Bev Ellinger

Congratulations and a very happy birthday,
The best part of my day is a cup of coffee while i read your e-mail. I am 75 years old and at one time about 25-30 years ago had a painted furniture business and am also a self taught artist. I collect blue and white porcelain like you collect ironstone.
Many pieces of painted furniture live in my house and like you i repaint and repurpose, share with my daughters and from time to time find new homes for them. I always take time to search for another treasure in a consignment shop or thrift store and never pass the “oops” paint shelf at Lowes or Home Depot without a quick look. I have never tried milk paint, so this would be a wonderful opportunity for me.
      Keep inspiring us…..thanks❤️

    189. Kimberly Carnegie Bruhn

Love all the colors, especially the greens and mustard colors! Thanks for the memories!

    190. Trista

As someone who wanted to take more of an environmentally conscious approach to several of my DIY dreams I’ve adored the idea of milk paint for sometime. I was however intimidated as it was an unexplored method of finishing of those around me with experience the types of projects I was undertaking. I’ve finished a few projects now; using your milk paint as a paint and as a stain, hemp oil, furniture/antiquing wax, and even used the bonding agent to adhere milk paint to a glass vase. I’m absolutely hooked and I’m so glad I took the chance on this brand! Congrats on 7 years!!!

      Trista
      @a.piece.of.the.country

    191. Linda

Marian, Happy 7th Birthday to you and MMS Milk paint. I have used Typewriter on dining room chairs and candlesticks, Tricycle on a desk and large tray, linen on an antique dresser and french enamel on a side chair. Also the clear wax and hemp oil to finish off many painting endeavors. So glad I found Teresa at Atelier in Buffalo to purchase my items and see samples of colors I didn’t know I needed in my home or for gifts. Love, love, love your product and so glad that you pursued your dream of bringing this great paint to the masses!

    192. Kim

I have followed your blog for a number of years now. I made my girls navigate a stop at Lucketts to buy some of your products, on the way to my sister’s house in Herndon VA! I have a chalkboard wall in my kitchen from seeing it in your PA house, and I have the cow head too! I love your enthusiasm and honesty in how you process ideas and execute them! Congratulations on 7 years of MMSMP❤️

    193. Patty Minerich

Congratulations on your 7th Anniversary – I so enjoy your blog!

    194. Caroline

Happy anniversary to you and your team! I love your design sense, your home, and your authentic voice. My 17-year-old daughter has added you to her Instagram feed, after watching me read your blog, and she’s not even really interested in homes or design yet–that’s a statement! If I won, I’d choose colors in the blue/green line–so lovely and fresh.

    195. Becky

      Happy seventh birthday~
      |I really would like to win. I enjoy your blog and I read it every day. I have wanted some of your paint for forever. So please pick me

    196. Connie W

Congratulations on 7 years. I’ve followed your blog for many years. If I won I’d probably pick a couple of blues, lines, toughcoat, wax and brush. May your success continue for many years.

    197. Kimberley

Happy birthday! I am a lover of all things blue and white too. Many blessings to you…

    198. Ann

Thank you for the daily inspiration, encouragement, and sharing your life with all of us. Your paint is so easy to use, a joy to work with, and each piece becomes a source of pride. ❤️
      Happy Birthday!

    199. Deb

Congratulations Marian! Such a wonderful success. If I had to pick a favorite color in the line I would have to choose typewriter but there are so many that I love. Thank you for your inspiration and for being a blessing to all of us.

    200. Lisa

I have a dresser in my house right now that would be perfect for a makeover. I would love to try your paint!

    201. Josi Siefker

I have a similar story about a start up company. After owning a shop and sells chalk type paints due to cancer, some major back surgery and my husbands promotion (he would start traveling extensively) I closed my doors. It left me with dozens of paint brushes I needed to sell. My husband suggested I bring them with me in our motor home and sell them on Facebook or a website as I could ship easily. After joining a group on FB I sold out within 2 weeks. I placed another very large order with my supplier and again the group was buying me out. We decided to take a leap of faith and found a manufacturer in Italy that would private label for me. Like you we had no idea how big the investment would end up being. We’re in this only 18 months now with a nice steady growth. It’s amazing how God closes one door but opens another. I am thankful for my cancer and surgery because I was forced to find a new opportunity in the paint world. I would love any of your products if I am picked the winner. xoxo

    202. Betty Bashaw

Happy 7th Birthday! I’ve only recently joined your group of supporters, and am so enjoying your knowledge, products, and sense of humor! I would love to try more of your paint colors … Linen, Lucketts Green, Grain Sack, Aviary, Marzipan, Mustard Seed Yellow …. and your hemp oil. Congratulations!

      • Sandra Gumm

Happy Birthday and congratulations! Today is my youngest grandson’s 1st Birthday also! Such a special day. I have only tried your Hemp Oil, as I recently found a local supplier of MMS paints, but am anxious to try your paint, especially since I just purchased an antique bow front dresser! A win would be a blessing.

    203. Kathleen

Congratulations on all that you have accomplished in the last 7 years ! I love all of the blues and greens. Tricycle is also a favorite and I generally don’t lean towards reds…but this one is unique ! The hemp oil has been wonderful at reviving some of my older pieces of furniture. Great products, thanks so much for all of your hard work and creativity !

    204. Adelaide

Happy Birthday! I love your hemp oil and think the next project will be to take the plunge into painting some furniture in Farmhouse White and Shutter Gray.

    205. Kathy Milliken

Happy Birthday!! I have followed your blog since 2013, and first used your paint 2014. I’ve used it a lot since then!! I like a lot of your colors, but I think my favorite is typewriter!! Kitchen scale, hemp oil and white wax , follow in next favorites . I really need to try your artissimo I think!

    206. Laurie

      Happy Birthday Miss Mustard Seed!!

I found your blog years ago after seeing you reupholster a chair on YouTube. You had the only experienced DIY video on the subject then! I look forward to reading your blog everyday. You have come so far so fast. I especially enjoy seeing you paint furniture and all the projects you’ve done with your mother!

I hope to try your paints soon. I can’t figure out which color to use though. Mustard Seed Yellow? French Enamel, or a neutral like Grainsack?

Please keep the DIY videos coming!

    207. Diane Fairbanks

Hi! I am currently looking for a different house, one that I can really put my stamp on, as you have in yours, and your Boxwood green butler’s pantry has been such an inspiration! I have also used your sewing techniques to make my own drop cloth slip covers for dining room chairs and an ottoman, and I get so many compliments on them! You really do inspire me and thousands of other crafters and decorators to try things we would not have considered before seeing you do them so well!

      • Pamela Barnabo

Congrats on 7 years! I’ve got a huge bedroom set that is a coffee color. The pieces are so well made. Then I recently purchased an open box farmhouse style headboard on Wayfair. I want to paint it and the dark furniture in farmhouse white so that they all match. I think going from the dark colors to light will brighten up the master bedroom!
        Pamela B.

        • Pamela Barnabo

P.S. Have you created a color like the blue green pieces you bought before your big move? I love that color!
          Pamela V.

    208. Glenda D

7 years?!…. My first thought was, how old are her boys now? It has been an amazing journey for your whole family. I pray that, like your parents, I will be that encouragement to my children to use their talents and abilities to make a difference. Over the years I have bought several colors of Miss Mustard seed paint and have given some of it away so that others could experience that joy I have had in using it. When you came out with farmhouse white, my heart sang. I have my grandmother’s china cabinet and I knew immediately that that was the perfect color. I bought the paint and then ended up giving it to a young mom who wasn’t sure how to freshen up her living space. Happy to say she loved the what it did for her. Recently retired I am looking forward to finally getting that china cabinet done.
Congratulations Marian! It has been a joy to watch you grow!

    209. Carla from Kansas

Seven years! Time does fly. I would love to try more of the blues.

    210. Shelly Aman

I’d love a chance to win some of your product, it’s harder to find in Canada. I’ve 3 of your colours and mixed them to make my own custom colour, very brave of me! Thanks for the daily blogs, I love reading everyday.

    211. Norah McCann

Happy Birthday MMSMP, here’s to many more!

    212. MaryLisa Noyes

Happy 7th Birthday! I had the pleasure of finding some wonderful pieces of furniture and transforming them with your paint. Eulalie’s Sky has been my favorite although I have ironstone and linen and farmhouse white. I had the pleasure of meeting you at the Luckett’s Market and you and your booth are amazing…Here’s to many more years of success!

    213. Kaye L Thornton

Congratulations and Happy Birthday MMS Milk Paint!

I painted a dresser Shutter Grey and Ironstone and I absolutely love it!!! I also have used your hemp oil and think it’s amazing!!!! I’d love to try more paint colors like Lucketts Green and lots of other things from you line!

    214. Nancy

Hello Marian from another loyal follower. Hearty congratulations on seven successful years of MMS Milk Paint! You are an inspiration to us all!

    215. Holly Binns

Congratulations!!! I’m so thrilled for you and all that you’ve achieved. I still remember the first day I stumbled across your website. I was immediately enchanted by the colors, the styling, and the feel of MMS milk paint. I spent hours pouring over every page and detail. I subscribed to your blog and read every one as soon as it drops into my inbox. I’ve even gone back and read blog posts from before I found you. I found a retailer just a few hours away in Jacksonville, Florida, that carries your products. I made a trip to Rusted, which quickly became my favorite store, and soon after tackled my first MMS milk paint project – a toy chest that I painted in Shutter Gray and that holds extra sheets and blankets in our master bedroom now. Since then, milk painted pieces are everywhere around our house, from the giant chalkboard, antique desk and chair, and blanket ladder in our family room, to the buffet and set of carved candlesticks in our dining room, to the two bookcases in my daughters bedroom. Even my potting table on the front porch is wearing Tricycle and Antiquing Wax. Thank you for creating a line of paints and products that have helped us transform our home into one that we love. Here’s to many more years of creativity, big ideas, and inspiration!

    216. MIREILLE BRUNEAU

    217. Martha Weber

Happy 7th! I look forward to many more celebrations!

    218. Linda

      Congratulations, Marian,
Your story of faith, family, and friends is inspiring, a testament to what is possible through creativity and hard work. We share your joy and cheer you on as you continue to move mountains. God bless.

    219. Linda Latt

Wow, that is awesome. I have used some of your products before; the milk paint and the hemp oil and really liked them. I have not a piece in about a year because I moved out of an antique mall. I am hoping on doing a couple of pieces this summer. My favorite colors are typewriter and artissimo but I am itching to try some other colors.
      Congratulations on your success.

    220. Rose

Congratulations on the success of your paint line, which is fabulous! I have a few painted pieces that I used Ironstone on and would love to try a blue color.

    221. Elaine

Happy Seventh B-Day! How awesome is this! I recently “found” you, so I am new to your paint, but really loving the French Enamel color. I am thinking it’s time to paint my oak pedestal table with your milk paint… Thanks for the chance to win, and much continued success!!!

    222. Debra

Happy 7th birthday!! I just painted my second piece today with Miss Mustard Seed Kitchen Scale. I love it!!

    223. Dot

Congratulations on 7 years. I’m quite new to the blog. I would love to give your products a try. Itching to get crafting but selling and anticipating a move so that has to happen first.

    224. Gay Cordes

I am such a fan of milk paint. I started using it years ago when I found some in miniature plastic milk pails. It was hard to mix but I loved the finish. Fast forward to 2013 when I found MMS milk paint in the beautiful colors and was so excited to try it again. Yours is a breeze to mix and use. Love, love, love your wax and the hemp oil. Congratulations on having a dream and finding a way to make it work.

    225. Christopher

I tell everyone I know who asks about painting furniture to use your paint. I love it!

    226. Elaine O'Connor

Congrats on your great success!!!!! I love, love, love your blog and hope you will continue forever. Love to paint furniture, but I don’t always have the success you have had. There’s always hope………
      Thanks, Elaine

    227. Jewel

I can’t believe it has been 7 years already! So fun to read about the history of your business and remember how it all began. I have used a few products and have been so happy with all of them. I would love to try a few colors that I haven’t used yet. Maybe farmhouse white, shutter gray and french enamel. Happy 7 years!!

    228. Debra Tessier

Happy Leap Day! You took a great leap of faith and started an amazing company even though it seemed so overwhelming. Thanks for sharing your journey and providing the inspiration for for all of us to follow our dreams!

      • Susan Cohen

I love your work… paint… paintings… upholstery… decor… just everything! I hope to try your paints soon… tricycle and the blues, and hemp oil!

    229. Monique

I have read your blog for many years and have been inspired by your book, your ideas, your style, your colors. I have a copy of the painting of your cow in my home. I enjoy your freshness and your humility. I hope that you will continue to share your ideas and your journey for a long time. I would like to try hemp oil if ever I win the contest, along with other products. Thank you, Monique (Québec, Canada)

    230. Dee Van Ingen

HAPPY 7th!!!!!!!!! I’ve only been following you for a couple of years so had no idea you’d been selling the paint for seven years! That’s exciting all because of you and your enthusiasm!!!!!!!! Keep it up! I finally just began painting a piece of furniture……….my daughter-in-law has painted four dining room chairs for her home (all in the red/white/blue theme) and it’s turned out AWESOME! Looking forward to many, many more years with you and your ideas!

    231. D

Have never tried milk paint but your videos and tutorials have tweaked my interest and I am anxious to give it a try.

    232. Maureen G Lovell

I’ve only recently found you and havent taken the “jump” yet but I love everything you do, especially your blog. Reading it makes my day. I’m interested in your shades of blue, gray and greens. Thank you for your inspiration and also your tutorials. Cheers to another 7!

    233. Cindy

I love milk paint!!❤️ My favorites are the white shades…..ironstone, linen, grain sack, farmhouse white. I use Hemp Oil a lot!!!! I also like to use the wax puck, furniture wax, and antiquing wax.
Congratulations on your 7th birthday! I have been buying your products from Me and Mrs Jones, in Memphis, for the last 5 years.

    234. Lauren

Happy Birthday!! Thanks for sharing your ‘origin’ story ? I loved hearing it! My mom found your line at a store in my tiny hometown, Neodesha, KS! We painted some family furniture most importantly a beautiful table of my late grandparents thats top had been ruined by water damage. MSMP to the rescue! I love that it has helped extend the life of the table for more generations!

    235. Chris

Happy 7th Birthday. You have a wonderful product. Thank you for all your information and work.

    236. Nita

Happy birthday MMS Milk Paint! I have read your blog for years and have learned such a lot. I was a winner of one of your hidden lucky tickets a couple of years ago and love the goodies that I won. Thank you again and congratulations on your success, Marian.

    237. Annie

Seven years !?!? Gosh, it doesn’t seem that long. I’ve been following you for years. So long ago that you were using latex paint and then chalk paint to “beautify” your furniture.
I have to say that I love your chalk paint and the hemp oil is the best !!
Here’s to many more years of success.?

    238. Ann

Love your blog and your paint! I would love ironstone and of course any of your colours! We live in a century old ship captains house on the south shore of Nova Scotia, so all your colours would be perfect anywhere in our house! Congratulations on 7 years! ❤️

    239. Sharon Mc

Congratulations on seven years of hard work and blessed success! I have followed you for so long, it seems much longer than 7 years. I love your paints especially Luckett’s and Boxwood green, Ironstone and Farmhouse White. My favorite products are the hemp oil and brushes! There is no such thing as too many brushes! haha
God Bless you and your sweet family with health and continued success.

    240. BONNIE TURCOTT

      Happy B-day…….
I wait everyday for your emails to come in….can’t wait to hear of your adventures….

Love the colors boxwood and lucketts green….

I have an old hutch and would like to seal it…..

      Here’s to the next 7 years….

    241. Mary

      Happy Birthday,
You are my inspiration. My memory is taking a painting workshop in Madison, Wisconsin with you as the instructor. It was a dream come true. I am hoping to drive across Wisconsin and visit you in Minnesota.

    242. Teresa

Your milk paint is how I was introduced to your blog. Another blogger (I can’t remember her name) was using your paint and linked back to your blog. I was hooked and read all the posts up to that point in a weekend! Love the paint and I’ve even turned my husband onto it. Would love to try the white wax and purchase some more paint. My favorites are the blues and the whites in the line.

    243. Margaret Mills

Happy Anniversary on 7 years of MMSMP. I’ve used your Hemp Oil. but have never used the paint. I just inherited an old free-standing kitchen cabinet with the flour bin right in the center of the top and even the sifter is still there. I’m thinking Eulalie’s Sky would be beautiful. If I could win the products I wouldn’t have the outlay of buying everything from scratch. Again, I enjoy all the creative talent God has given you.

    244. Allison

Congratulations Miss Mustard Seed! I enjoy reading your blog. Thank you for the the funny stories and beautiful art.
I have tried some of your paint colors and especially love the blue ones. I am extremely interested in trying out your hemp oil. I have several pieces of furniture waiting for me to work on. My area no longer has a local retailer for your products.

      • Theresa

Happy 7th Birthday! What an incredible story. I follow your blog faithfully, but have not tried your paint yet. I would love to paint a cabinet for our new (100 year old) Montana house with mustard seed yellow.

    245. Leone Wilson

Happy Birthday! Your tutorials are so refreshing and I read every blog post you put out.

I love the blues, particularly French blue, typewriter and whites. I just purchased the Tough Coat Sealer for a painted table in the sunroom and am waiting for it to warm enough here in Washington to apply it and enjoy.

    246. Roberta

Congratulations on 7 years! You're an inspiration to women everywhere to get out there and follow your dreams. When I was very young, my grandmother gave me a necklace with a tiny mustard seed in a little glass ball. It had a little inspiration card with it that said…With faith as small as a mustard see you can move mountains. I've always remembered that special gift and the sweet meaning behind it, almost 60 years later. ❤

    247. Darica

TRICYCLE will be my next purchase. I just redid a cottage kitchen in trophy with the antiquing wax. My daughters were frowning at the idea now one wants it in her kitchen and says pictures do not do it justice. The tiles are all the originals black and white. I’m thinking a pantry and shelving in tricycle will make it all POP. I’m so glad I stumbled onto you on Pinterest.

    248. Vickie Shields

Congratulations and blessings for continued success! I honestly thought I ha every single color of your paint, some in the larger packages and some in the small but I did find a few that I have not purchased yet. The Outback petticoat is intriguing and I can picture it on some rocking chairs for the back deck. Kitchen Scale, Arabesque and Artissimo are a few of the colors that I have in the tiny pouches that I would love to have in larger quantities now that I’ve tried them and love them all! The Hemp Oil and Tough Coat are the other often used items that I can always use. The 7th item I would love to be surprised with!
I love following you and your family and wish you continued success with your business and many blessings for health and happiness. <3

    249. Donna Thibodeau

I’m old enough that my wood furniture pieces that I loved have suffered wear and tear. I would love to brighten up the house with some painted furniture. You product looks easy enough for me and I love the look of your finished pieces. I love your blog, your style, you, and your art endeavor. Happy 7th!

    250. Cheryl

Congrats Marian!! Lots of hard work but it looks like it paid off for you!!

    251. Michelle

My oldest son just joined the Army in January and I knew I would need something to keep myself occupied. I’d been wanting to learn how to use milk paint so I signed up for a class at Sage and Twine in Contoocook, NH and I was immediately hooked. In less than a month I painted 3 pieces of furniture and I would love to try some new colors – Linen, Tricycle and Boxwood as well as a paintbrush and hemp oil.
Happy birthday to your milk paint line and good luck in its future!

    252. Susan Kraeszig

Great job on a great product! Happy birthday!

    253. Linda

For several months I have been reading all of your milk paint blogs. Watching you transform furniture in anticipation of doing it myself. How fun it would be to win! And congrats Marian on 7 years of milk paint!!

    254. Jeanne Bell

I think I have been following you for about 6 yrs. I remember reading your post about starting your milk paint line. I have followed you to Lucketts to see your furniture (in fact I still go every year) I am so happy for your success, but I have followed along and know how hard you have worked for it. I would love to win your products and try some that I have not used before.
Good luck and many blessings to you and your family in the future.

    255. Ellen Shook

I have watched your career over the years, and bragged to my husband a few times about how you have really grown, almost as though you were my own kid! I am so impressed with everything you have accomplished. I met you only briefly at Chapel Market a few years ago when I came to pick up two French chairs you pre-sold me. I notice that you still use a matching one. I would love to win your gift, because I have a couple of pieces in my own studio which certainly do need a do-over! One is my mother’s old cedar chest from the late 1930’s and the other is a junky french-style hutch where I store “stuff”. I am not sure what that pinkish color is called, but I love that one and Eulalie’s Sky. Congratulations on everything!

    256. Karen

Big congrats on the success of your MMS milk paint line! Just two weeks ago I used your milk paint for the first time on a piece of furniture. It was a 1942 foot locker (trunk) that I painted in typewriter. It turned out beautiful after I applied a coat of MMS hemp oil. I liked the results so much that I plan to paint a vintage dresser in typewriter. My dresser is similar to the dresser in the “Prove Yourself Wrong” video.? I look forward to using your milk paint on more pieces in the future! Thanks for creating such a great product.

    257. Nageeba

Happy 7th birthday!! I seriously love all the colors in the milk paint line, but especially artissimo and typewriter. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication!

    258. Jill

Beautiful texture! Amazing coverage! Colors that make the heart pound! My life has new purpose. I can paint any piece I want in any color that talks to me. Yayyyyyyyy. The piece getting the most comments is an old victrolla in a mix of shutter gray and French enamel. It’s stunning. Happy happy 7 th birthday!!!!!

    259. Tami Mishler

I feel such pride for you ( I am maybe old enough to be your momma ) I have watched you grow in this blog, your art, and your life. Your spirit is contagious. Congratulations!!

    260. MaeBelle

Happy 7th !!! I’ve never used Milk Paint and would love to try. I’ve always enjoyed making our home fit us not what the current trend is. And, have painted many walls and furniture. By the way love the names of your paints.

    261. Kathy

Love the look of your paint finishes and would love to try them. The greens and blues speak to me and I’d love to try the hemp oil on several projects. Happy 7th anniversary!

    262. Carolyn

      Happy Birthday 🙂
I’d like to try tricycle on a piece in my dining room, I just haven’t worked up the nerve to try a bold color.
      Love your inspiration!

    263. Joy Cary

I have only recently discovered Miss Mustard seed and though I have purchased some paint and hemp oil, I haven’t tried it out yet. I would love to win and explore more products!

    264. Gail

Congratulations on 7 years, Marion! I have been a follower for years. My favorite milk paint memory is of attending an afternoon workshop you conducted along with Laura at Ironstone Nest shop in Sun Prairie, WI a few years back. It was so much fun! I learned so much about milk paint from you that day and left with a lovely little table that I painted in Ironstone. It will always be a favorite piece in my home! I would like to try Farmhouse White , Boxwood , Shutter Gray and the Tough Coat.

    265. Karen

Please advise if you would use chalk paint on a kitchen island? I have an antique cabinet i am transforming with a new larger top! It has latex paint on now, do i need to remove it before using chalk! I swore i would never paint furniture i did that with antiquing in the 70’s and used gallons of zip strip in the late 80’s but miss mustard seed has changed my thinking!

    266. Sharri

I just purchased my first package of your milk paint and can’t wait to try it!! I already have a list of other colors and furniture pieces waiting to be loved!

      • Sharri

The greens are on my list for my next projects.

    267. Karen

What a wonderful journey you have had! Congratulations on all of your successes. I am loving boxwood right now.

    268. Joy in Alabama

Happy Birthday! I’d love to win! We are moving in June to pastor a new church. I like to make the parsonage “home” quickly so I’d like to paint a couple of my older wood pieces and would especially love to try Tricycle! I love all your colors, actually!

Thank you and many blessings on your business!

    269. Olivia

Congrats, Marian, on your anniversary! Miss the postings of your Lucketts Market annual sale extravaganzas.

    270. Marlene Stephenson

Congratulations on your 7 yrs. I would like to try some of your milk paint and hemp oil, thank you for this opportunity.

    271. Shelly

Shutter gray, iron stone and grain sack! I would love to try the hemp oil and your white wax.
      Love your paints! Congratulations!

    272. Krista Pearl

Congratulations on 7yrs!! I remember reading that initial post introducing your baby <3 I used Trophy to paint a sideboard that was a hand me down from my parents. I had painted it with latex paint about 10 yrs ago with "meh" results. I knew the milk paint was what I really needed! AND SO it WAS! The sideboard turned out fantastically and rejuvenated my dining room. My next project is going to be painting the wainscotting in my office which I want to use grain sack. LOVE the products!

    273. Barbara Sousa

      Hi there,
I love all of your paint colors, but have never used any of them because I let fear hold me back. I’ve used your hemp oil and love what it did to freshen up an antique piece of furniture I have.
If I win the contest, maybe I’ll take a class at one of the local antique shops and finally have the courage to try painting a piece of furniture.

    274. Staci

I would LOVE to try the antiquing wax. I’m impressed with the results I’ve seen online. The milk paint in the boxwood color also really stands out.
Thank you for all your blog posts. They are so pretty and seem so doable.

    275. Carmen Boyes

I love your blog, Marian. I have felt such admiration and gratitude from the first day I found you,
(I believe it is at least 2 years ago) and am always amazed at how much I enjoy every one you write and share!
This is my first comment, although I have enjoyed reading all the other readers ideas and their unlimited gratitude for you, and your amazing creativity!
The most interesting thing to me is, your style isn’t my style! Glitter and glitz is my preference. THAT is why I find it so amazing that I love your blog and love how you make such beautiful sense out of that which has never inspired me before! I believe it is your heart-felt gift that makes everyone and everything feel so at home around you. You area gift to the planet!
I absolutely love your blog, and how you so beautifully share your life and challenges with such grace and ease, and I am amazed to watch how beautifully you put things together.
I haven’t ever tried your milk paint. But I would love to. As long as you come with it!!!!

      Bliss-ings!
      Carmen

    276. Mona

Congratulations on 7 years. I have not tried the paint yet but would like to.

    277. Julie | Home On The Hill

From little things, big things certainly do grow! Your ideas come to life are living proof that combined with a ‘can do’ attitude you really can move mountains.

How about this little idea – come on down under to Australia to teach milk paint workshops? We would love to have that authentic experience with you, especially here in rural Australia on the farm & I have a great venue – our barn! It already has vintage pieces in there just waiting for some milk paint magic!!

You could launch a new colour inspired by the colour of the mountains that surround us – an amazing blue grey with a hint of mauve as the day draws to a close – but you would need to see them in real life of course to get the colour just right. I know moving mountains is your thing, but bringing them to the US to colour match would be too heavy a lift I think – even for you!! 🙂

Congrats on 7 years of Miss Mustard Seed’s milk paint!

    278. Linda Colquhoun

Genuine congratulations on 7 years of making your paint. I must have discovered it just after you established it because I’ve used it for at least 6 or 7 years. And nowadays it’s even available in remote parts of Scotland so I can get any colour I need. I love your brand, your paint and your sheer energy for creativity.

    279. Kathleen Harris

Oh my! Fantastic journey through time—ah-mazing! to accomplish so much in just 7 years! I think I found you about 4 years ago. I love every paint you have offered. I’m currently going for Boxwood, as I’m planning to introduce more green into my navy blue/indigo and taupe color scheme. You are my here!

    280. Dorene

Happy 7th Birthday!!! I have been using your paint since 2013 and now I am always looking for another piece of furniture to paint. Your products make it so easy for even a beginner to get professional looking results! I simply can’t choose a favorite color as each one I have tried has won a special place in my heart….and the hemp oil is a liquid jewel! The next 2 colors on my list to try are Bergere and Farmhouse White. I can’t thank you enough for working to make your dream a reality and in turn sharing the magic of milk paint with all of your readers! Looking forward to seeing all the wonderful things you will create in the future.

    281. Linda C Greiss

Marion, Congrats! What an amazing story. I remember when you began with your milk paint line yet did not know all the particulars until today. I would love to try out Layla’s green, Eualalie’s Sky, and Linen! Thank you for the opportunity to win your drawing.

    282. Erica

Happy birthday. My favorite product so far is the hemp oil. Truly magic in a bottle. There are so many products I still want to try. So I have my fingers crossed that I win!

    283. Jody

I remember that blog post and can’t believe it’s been 7 years already! I’ve tried a few of the colors and love them 🙂 Thanks for the chance to enter the contest!

    284. Susan

I still have a couple of those boxes! I remember having a smidge if Linen and Boxwood left and wanting to paint a small project. So I mixed, created s custom color, and it was amazing! So liberating to be creative!

    285. Angela Weiland

Happy 7th Birthday! What a HuGE Success! I would love to try Eulalie’s Sky, French Enamel and Ironstone. 😉 I have had good success with hemp oil and the bonding agent. The hemp oil work super swell on my wood top coffee bar with a painted bottom. The bonding agent worked great on a Oak hutch top – I lightly sanded before applying the bonding agent. I wanted the cabinet to be on wheels, so I could move it to different places. I used industrial steel vintage wheels. I lit up the inside, and covered the windows with a decorative film. Now, I store all my big pots, pans, serving ware inside and looks very cool next to the painted coffee bar. Thank you in advance for offering this opportunity to win some items in your quality product line! AWWWW…Some!

    286. Holly

Hi Marion – I’ve been with you from the beginning … my first endeavor was a tricycle nightstand with a typewriter top. It has black knobs a and I antiqued it. I still sits in my entryway – Enyone who come into my house always comments on it. It will be my favorite piece ever. I do miss feature furniture Friday-I always looked forward to the prieces you picked for inspiration. Congrats on 7 years Happy Birthday!! And thanks for the opportunity to score some free product.

    287. Wendy Bishop

Congratulations on 7 years! I only just found you a week ago and have an order already in shipment. I bought a small, old, rustic dresser that desperately needs help and I can already picture it with typewriter and as a bit of hidden glam, tricycle inside the drawers. While looking online for chalk paint I found you and saw that Rustic Farmhouse Charm was a distributor. I’m now working my way thru all your tutorials and am love your style! I’m an American living in Perth Australia and was feeling a little lost and very very far from home. So now I feel just a bit less remote and a little less homesick!

    288. Leesa Frech

My very first MMS painting experience was with Linen, I painted the sweetest Jenny Lind high chair for a friend’s first baby. Loved it! It was so darling and so much fun to use your milk paint for the first time. I would love to try Layla’s Mint – it’s a beautiful color, actually they are all beautiful colors!. Also, the Tough Coat product. Happy birthday!!

    289. Margo

Congratulations on your journey. It’s not easy especially when raising a family. I’m looking for a product to use for my master bedroom furniture which is currently a deep cherry finish. We traded out our four poster and I now have a metal bed frame that is a greenish gray with very subtle antique brass accents which are accented with the bit of blue that brass normally turns. It’s a pretty bed but the bureaus really need a makeover. While I like the white tones like linen or marzipan, I’m afraid of bleed through. I would lean towards aviary or Berger but, really, if I were to win, I would love your advice.

    290. Arbie Goodfellow

      What inspiration!
      Happy birthday dear milk paint!
I would love to work with Lucketts Green,Ironstone and Eulalies Sky.
      Blessings to you~

    291. Denise

I love your ideas and your positive energy. I have used chalk paint, but not milk paint. I would love to use your milk paint to paint my oak sideboard, with mirror, that we have in our dining room. I like farmhouse white, tricycle, lucketts green or kitchen scale with hemp oil to seal. Thanks for all the inspiration you send out into the world!

    292. Lynette

      Hi Marian,
Congratulations on 7 years!!! I would like to nominate someone to receive this kind offer if I could. I am currently working part time in a local canteen while my sister and I start a new business. I have got to know some wonderful people there, in particular one lovely lady. She is acknowledged by all there as a truly helpful, kind and generous person. Her current situation is difficult as she is caring for her husband with terminal cancer and yet she still cares for her co workers as well. I know she is a big fan of yours and one of her passions is painting furniture. She manages to get some time for herself and her happy place is in the shed painting. She would be so thrilled to receive this gift and I am hoping it will give her a lift during a difficult time.

    293. Loretta

Congratulations! I’ve painted a pair of benches my husband made in linen. Loved the paint. No odor and easy to use for sloppy painters like me! I have a few more projects I’d tackle if I won ?

    294. Jill

Congratulations on #7 and Happy Birtthday! Milk paint has saved my bacon on several occasions! I had this old drop leaf table that I got for a song, but had been painted (poorly) far too many times. Painting over it would not make it better, only making my paint job look bad. So I began to strip it. And it took multiple containers of stripper to get through a few top layers, only to reveal many more colors. It took days. In the end I got it down as far as I could to just be smooth without the old drips and bubbles. I decided that milk paint would be the best choice because it would only enhance the beauty of the layers on the dresser. I chose Eulalie’s Sky and it saved my painting career. I almost gave up because that table was such a pain! I also found an Empire dresser that I now have in our Master Bedroom, painted in grain sack. I’ve painted other pieces in Farmhouse White and have to say, it’s my favorite white! I have more pieces I’d love to try in you other colors. It’s been fun to follow the evolution of your brand and see it grow!

    295. Cyndi

Congrats! I have been enjoying your blog for years. I have painted a lot of furniture but have yet to try milk paint so would be excited to try it. There are so many great colors. I also would like to try the hemp oil. Thanks for the opportunity!

    296. Elizabeth St

Warmest congratulations, Marian, on the 7th birthday of your business. It’s truly amazing how much you have accomplished in that time. From the day you started it, MMS has had a mind of its own. You’ve been wise to get out of the way and let it go where it wanted to go.

As for products to try, I have my eye on the farmhouse white paint, as well as the many finishing products you offer. Thank you for running the giveaways!

    297. Dorothea

Wow, what an incredible journey you’ve been on these past seven years! Congrats on being brave enough to follow your dream, and what you’ve accomplished!
I signed up for your email a while back because I’ve always been intrigued with milk paint, but never brave enough to try. I’d still love to try someday, and your suggestion of trying 2 paints, and 1 each of the other products as the giveaway package sounds like a winner!

    298. Lisa

Have been inspired by you since your start, when i ran into you at a local shop! I hope to get lucky in this give away of yours!

    299. Barbara

Everyone is writing congratulatory epistles today! I’ve followed you for quite a while, and have enjoyed your life in Gettysburg and now in MN.
My very favorite piece of furniture that you’ve ever painted was the antique one on your guest bedroom, blue with flowers on it. I practically cried when you sold it and it didn’t even go a with a thing in my home lol!
I’ve been adding sliced radishes in lime juice to my tacos ever since you shared your Blue Apron meals!
And of course liked your ventures in painting on canvas and paper.
In some ways I believe your my friend, even though we’ve never met! You’ve shared meaningful joys and sorrows in your life, and you always rebound with grace and joy! Your energy to pack up and enter those antique markets always tired me out lol!
May your business continue to thrive and diversify as you think of new things.

    300. PJ

I have loved watching your journey via your blog! Wishing you continued success and new adventures…

    301. Sharon Hoham

Marian, it’s been such a delight to follow you all these years and so amazing to see your success, strength and commitment to your vision. A true inspiration, love your products. One of my favorite stories is my husband’s affinity for Home Depot learning all about everything from pros before jumping in-I really surprised him with the transformation of a family antique dresser getting Hemp Oiled! From an online ordered product! Keep up the great work, would love to win.

    302. Mickey

      Congratulations on this wonderful milestone.

    303. Susan

I painted my bedroom set, which was a dark cherry stain in pine furniture, in Grainsack and used bonding agent. I did 3 coats because I wanted it very opaque (and original finish was very dark), and lightly distressed the edges, waxed with clear wax, changed out the hardware with crystal knobs and handles, and I think it’s stunning-so pretty! I hadn’t used much milk paint before that. Thank you!!❤️

    304. Kim

I have not known about your milk paint for very long. I have a few pieces in my home that I would like to update with Milk paint. I think one of them would look beautiful with typewriter and waxed with the white wax. I have been watching videos and trying to get my courage up to try it!

    305. Dotte

I love the paint and all the other products!! I can’t say that I’ve tried every color but at least half of them. I gravitate
to the farmhouse white, so I suppose that’s my favorite! Cheers to you and your awesome paint line…
      YOU are my inspiration!!!!

    306. Terri

Love the colors and the idea of milk paint. My 97 year old mother-in-law recently passed away. She left us some wonderful old pieces that I want to try my hand at using milk paint to bring them to life in my home.

    307. Angie

Happy 7th Birthday! What an amazing journey you have been on with your wonderful paints. There are so many lovely colors I don’t know where I’d begin, possibly Luckettes Green or Typewriter. I really want to give the hemp oil a try as well. Congratulations on 7 years and I wish you many more!

    308. Nicole

Congratulations! It’s been so fun to read about you and your business growing over the years…and to purchase antiques from you. We’re moving into a new home soon, so I’d love to try some of your products on furniture as we decorate the new home!

    309. Brenda

I love your products, from the milk paint to tough coat finish. We are so glad this small idea blossomed into a worldwide business enterprise.

    310. Cynthia Johnson

      Happy, Happy #7 MMS!

You have come such a long way!!! One of my favorite pictures is right here in this post of you and Kriste having fun tossing milk. I loved the relationship you two had and the mix of your creative juices. If I were to be so lucky to be chosen, first I would jump up and down with glee and second, I’d love to try your dried lavender and trophy milk paint and hemp oil.

I have watched the love and pride that you have put into your work, and you family during the past seven years, including your big move from PA to MN, as I myself moved from my MN to CO. I felt a kinship with you making such big life changes at the same time. . Thank you for sharing all of it with us.

      Fondly, Cynthia

    311. Pat

I haven’t used your paint yet, but I’m getting braver about painting furniture! I have a lot of vintage oak furniture but I think I’m about ready to add some painted items. I love the typewriter and tricycle colors. Actually, all the colors are nice. You’ve done a great job with your paint line, and I enjoy the blog. Congrats!!

    312. Lindsay Campbell

      WOW, 7 years is great!!
I hope that you keep going and going

    313. Sarah

Congratulations on the success of living your dream!! It’s been a joy watching your blog/ Instagram over the years! ?

      • Helen M Dandan

Thanks for all you do, I have bought and painted furniture and signs with: French blue, boxwood, typewriter, shutter grey and ironstone. I also mixed a few of the colors. If I win you can give me dark waxes and any other colors you chose they are all awesome colors. God Bkess You

        Helen

    314. Christine

Congratulations on your success! Your initiative and hard work has awarded you much joy, as well as your readers and milk paint enthusiasts . I have enjoyed watching the transformation of your home and share the photos with my husband for ideas. Thank you for your inspiration.

    315. carolyn phillips

      Carolyn Phillips

    316. Carol Hobbs

    317. Maureen Provost Ryan

Marian, this outpouring of affection and appreciation is really wonderful. In unison, we say “Congratulations” and “Thank You” to you for all that you give us through the blog, your videos and your products. I am never happier than when I have a paintbrush in my hand and this post has inspired me to return to painting furniture, smaller pieces and larger ones. Wish me luck! (PS. I love all of the colors in the line!)

    318. Bonita Deisler

Happy Birthday “miss mustard seed’s milk paint”! Thank you for the beautiful paint and for educating me with the history of milk paint and the how to’s. Your paint is my favorite. I have only worked with it just a little bit but desire to use it more.

    319. Elaine Magee

Happy Birthday! I’ve tried a few of your colors and have been very happy with all of them. Wishing you continued success.

    320. Melinda

I’ve used the color typewriter on a photo frame and a lead glass window pane.

    321. Linda

Happy Birthday & Congratulations! What an awesome journey you’ve been on!

I have been rehabbing my 100 yo farmhouse and am almost done. Looking forward to the “fun” part of decorating. Been reading all of your posts & following on IG for 2+ years. My first project will be the kitchen island (Lucketts). I will need paint, brushes, wax, tough coat, hemp oil… I have other lots of other projects planned, too. My fingers are crossed!

Best wishes for your continued great success!

    322. Charlotte

Congratulations! You’re such an inspiration! I have a dresser I am trying to figure out what color it needs to be and nothing yet. Going to try a couple of yours to see what happens!

    323. Claire

Oh please pick me, my parents won a car once. I gleefully follow your blog and I have learned so much from it. You’ve inspired me in many ways. PS I have never seen those commercials but they are both adorable!

    324. Connie Ridley

You are the first furniture painter I came across and I’ve been desiring to paint with your products for a couple of years now. Unfortunately, life situations have kept me from doing it, but I want to use it all – paints, waxes, bonding agents – all of it as soon as I have the opportunity. Thanks for the inspiration.

    325. Crystal

Every time you recount this story…it give me MAJOR goosebumps!! Look how big God’s plans were for you! Imagine what the future still holds! Love it 🙂

    326. Angie Noble

I’d love to try typewriter, grain sack and mustard seed yellow

    327. Catherine Madden

I have been a fan of Miss Mustard Seed since I first saw your product and some of your painted pieces at Lucketts! I would love to try your Boxwood green and Lucketts green, actually I would love to try all of your colors! I love your hemp oil and use it on almost everything!

    328. Jane Fox

Do impressed that you gave it a go. Also trying to establish a life long dream of refreshing the old to new. Would love to be part of your story

    329. Sandra Candido

The ‘prove yourself wrong’ inspired me when I I was off work with health issues and really needed some inspiration. I have watched countless DIY shows and they actually would make me feel worse as I never felt I had the ability or talent to be able to even attempt such beautiful creations! With the help of my husband and your amazing products…I am tackling a dresser for the first time ever….fingers crossed!? Thanks for sharing your story, inspiring many others ? like me- and congratulations on this milestone! God bless! ?

    330. Naomi S.

I would so love to win this giveaway! I have always wanted to try your milk paint and I love every one of the beautiful colors. If I won I would choose only paint! Seven colors of paint! I have a whole line-up of furniture pieces I want to paint with them.

    331. Phyllis Dew

Congratulations on MMS’s 7th anniversary, rewards and success for all your hard work! I haven’t gotten the courage to try your paint, but have two pieces of furniture I can ‘prove myself wrong’ on. I’m a green girl, so Boxwood and Lucketts Green are my favorites along with mustard seed yellow. I’ve enjoyed your blog and love your decorating style. Thanks for sharing with us!

    332. Cheryl

You go Marian! Love that you followed your dream!

    333. anne

Hi Miss Mustard Seed, This is fun! Will you be coming back to the Painted Lady Show in New York? I love your milk paints. This summer I want to try making the aged clay flower pots with your white milk paint. Have you ever made them? I am hoping the store in Palmyra, NY still carries your products.
      Thanks!

    334. Jody K

Has it really been 7 years? I remember that big announcement. How time flies. I would love to try a couple colors of paint, the waxes, hemp oil and tough coat. My husband has replaced our dusty dated oak bifolds with new beadboard ones he made, and I would love to try a soft blue chippy finish on them! Can’t wait to see what you do in the next 7 years. Congratulations!

    335. Cheryl

You are da BEST girl, your paint, your instruction and the inspiration you share! I’m so grateful to have found you. Thank You for it all. This is my favorite medium to paint worn, found, and repurposed pieces!

    336. SusanIreneB

I’m torn between the Mustard Seed Yellow and Luckett’s Green for my antique tea cart from my Grandmother.

    337. Patty Soriano

Happy Birthday, Miss Mustard Seed! I think I’ve been here for most of this and it’s been wonderful to see everything you have done, as well as all the experiences you’ve been through. I’m so glad that you have shared it all with us. It’s been quite a ride. I’ve wanted to try your paint for a long time, so it would be lovely to have a small chance at winning. You are so kind to offer this giveaway. I’d love to try the greens, since they are my favorite colors right now. Along with Typewriter, Artissimo, Apron Strings, a wax and the hemp. I love the way it restores everything it touches! And here’s to the next seven years! CLINK!

    338. Kerry

Tricycle always catches my eye. Love it!

    339. Paula Kvam

I truly enjoy your blog and getting inspiration from your instagram feed. And it was so nice getting to talk with you a little at Junk Bonanza – you are truly a very nice, sweet, down to earth person. It would be wonderful to try some of your other products while sporting a Miss Mustard Seed apron.

      So happy for you!

    347. Jennifer Kneen

Congratulations on 7 years of magnificence!

    348. Cheryl

Happly birthday and congrats on 7 years. I absolutely love this product. So thank you for bringing it to us. I have used a number of colors but still look forward to using colors like arebesque, linen, mora, marzipan. Amazing product and you inspire so many to take a chance.

      Here’s to many more years…

    349. Karen

My first milk paint project was an Ikea pine buffet and hutch that I painted in Apron Strings. I was so nervous that it would not turn out well. The first coat was not pretty but I remembered that you said the first coat often looks bad, so I carried on painting. I loved the results, it has a few chippy areas and some not so chippy spots. I was surprised that this did not bother me and milk paint soon became my favourite type of paint because the results are variable and gives you the ability to achieve so many different looks.

    350. Marty

I’m a faithful follower of your blog – you have so much creativity and unique perspective!

      Congratulations on your successes!

    351. Erin

I’ve been longing for a bedroom furniture makeover and have yet to try milk paint!

    352. LeAnne

Your anniversary is my birthday! YAY!
Congratulations on your dream come true. I would love to try the grainsack color.

    353. Jennifer

      Happy #7!!
I am lucky enough to live close enough to Lucketts and bought some of your milk paint samples in those cute little mason jars in the early days and I still have them.

    354. Mona

Thank you for years of inspiration and ideas! I look forward to reading every one of your blogs. You make a creative difference in my life. Wishing you years if joy and success.

    355. Cathy

Congratulations. You are so brave and talented. I purchased two old metal cabinets today at an estate sale and I seriously thinking they need to be milk painted.

    356. Raewyn Ward-Welch

I read all your posts and follow you on Insta too. It’s as though you are my sister, who pops in for a chat almost every day. I enjoy following you on your adventures. When I think of how your idea for a paint line was smaller than how it actually turns out it makes me smile. God really knows how to turn a tiny mustard seed into a huge sprawling plant! Bless you!

    357. Marcy Zmarzly

I love your blog, your colors, your style and your spirit! You are my favorite of the very few bloggers I follow.

    358. Christy Crenshaw

Congratulations! I love your blog and I have learned so much. I have painted several pieces. I think I am ready to tackle the dining room table, chairs and china cabinet using milk paint. I am undecided about color. Also, I want to try the hemp oil on an old piece I have. Thanks for the inspiration!

    359. Karen Darland

Happy Birthday! I look forward to your emails / blog each week. So many ideas to try but i really want to paint a hallway piece with the Boxwood green. I’m obsessed with it. Looking forward to trying your product 🙂

    361. Monica Gray

Marian I am so proud of you! I have been a fan of yours and have used your paint since the beginning. I love milk paint!! I was never much for replying to blogs. But I will tell you that I have read almost every one!! I have enjoyed all of your projects and use your milk paint frequently. I love it. I have mixed colors and created my own which is so fun. About 8 months ago I found “The Turquoise Iris,” Dionne Woods and have been following her and her wonderful talents too. I saw your interview the other day with her and thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved your stories! I have to say that the both of you are my favorites! She is also everything that she said about you. ❤️ Thank you for everything that you share with us and I hope that you know how appreciated you are. ?

    362. Donna Soule

7 years? It seems much longer than that… in a good way! What has helped me the most? Your move and changing your decor to match your house…. not forcing your decorating style but evolving. It’s given me thoughts on my style/house at the moment. Happy b-day!

    363. Judy Kulmaczeski

I have a small smoker’s cabinet that is crying out to have Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint on it. Don’t let it cry because it can’t be a winner! Congratulations on your anniversary and even if we don’t win anything….I will continue to enjoy your posts!

    364. Terry Luskin

    365. Elena MacDermant

I recently lost my wonderful husband of 44 years. I would like to update my home and furniture with my tastes…a more feminine viewpoint. I would love to try your products. My bedroom furniture is dark wood and I would like to lighten it with color. Color has always brightened my mood. And I need lots of that now. I also need projects to fill up my days. Your paint would help me on my next life journey!

    366. Barb K

So special when your dreams come true! You’ve worked so hard and it shows. I bought my first MMS product. I wanted to try hemp oil and was quite pleased with the results! Keep having fun

    367. Lelia Logan

Your milk paint is amazing. It so easy to use. Thank you for the chance to use some your products I have not used yet.

    368. Becky Jones

Oh Miss Mustard Seed- I love your paints!! My oldest daughter painted her sewing cabinet turned desk and I’ve painted many frames and two jelly cupboards with your lovely paints! Congrats on your anniversary! Oh how I’d love to win these goodies- I’m dreaming about what all I could paint- (squeal) !!!!!

    369. Erica

Happy Birthday MMS Milk Paint! My first piece I recently painted with a custom typewriter mix, sold in record time at my vintage booth. My neighboring dealers wanted to know more about the paint used! I’m now on the lookout for more pieces to paint, sell and maybe keep for myself. I’m excited to try Boxwood, Arabesque and Linen and the different waxes.

    370. Jane McCarthy

Congratulations, Marian on your 7th anniversary!! Every post you do gives me inspiration in some form or another. I have several of your paint colors and am getting ready to transform a guest bedroom.

    371. Mary Stewart

Congrats! I’m retired and remodeling my entire house! I’ve bought some new pieces but some older pieces will need to be painted to fit in with my new navy and white theme. I will be visiting a local vendor with fabric swatches soon. I want to look at the Artissimo and French Enamel paints as I believe they will work well for some of my bedroom pieces. Thanks for the chance to win some of your products. Have a BLESSED day!

    372. Beth S

I haven’t tried your milk paint yet but I love your hemp oil.
Happy birthday and thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

    373. Cynthia Olaya

I’ve been reading your blog for years and have enjoyed all the milk paint furniture makeovers immensely! You’re such an inspiration. That said, I have to admit I haven’t tried the milk paint yet. After seeing the farmhouse white dresser that you painted at Junk Bonanza, I can’t wait to get started! What a beauty! Congratulations on your milk paint line’s seventh anniversary and thank you for sharing your life with your readers!

    374. Cynthia Hogue

I have never used milk paint before but am fascinated with it and have followed your posts for several years. I love painting and distressing furniture and would live to try your products. I definitely want to try the hemp oil and tough coat. But I’m not sure how I would chose between the colors! Congratulations and thanks for the giveaway!

    375. Nancy Brautigan

I love your paints and the colors you have. I would love to try the hemp oil. You do such amazing work.

    376. Barb

Happy 7th birthday! Love your blog and all your creative endeavors. Enjoyed watching your furniture shuffle between office and studio and the ways you recombined the pieces.
7 products I’d love to try: paints in Berger, aviary, kitchen scale, schloss, linen, hemp oil, and a paint brush.

    377. Lucy Anthony

Congratulations Marian! Your journey has inspired many dreams to be sure. I started following you several years ago after you were featured in Country Living magazine along with some other bloggers. The first piece I painted with your brand of milk paint was an old pine dresser with carved handles and an ornate tall mirror which I purchased as a newly wed. I used Ironstone with bonding agent lightly distressed and waxed. It is now used for display purposes in my daughter’s preloved bridal shop (@pearlandbirch on Instagram). I have done some other pieces for her since and several for my own home. Thank you for following your dream!

    378. Maureen deBruyn

Congratulations! I wish for many more blessings to come your way! I’d love to try the luckets green or boxwood on my craft room /studio table! Thanks for the opportunity to win a gift from your paint line!

    379. Robin

I would so love to get to know your products better. Love, Love, Love painting!!! I am so totally happy with any supplies. I’m eager to know more about them. I enjoy your tutorials. You have an excellent way of explaining how to implement your products and also how to fix issues. Thank you so much!!!

    380. Laura D

Congrats on this milestone and thanks for inspiring me to use and appreciate your quality products!

    381. Chelsea

I stumbled upon your blog about 6.5 years ago from a milk paint dresser that I saw online. I’ve been hooked ever since. I actually still have yet to try milk paint, but I eagerly look for your blog posts in my inbox every few days. Now that we officially own an 1800s farm house, I can find some neat furniture to fill it with and paint! Congrats on having a dream and getting to see it flower in to such an amazing brand!

    382. Rebecca

I have come to know of you through a Brisbane uncycler enthusiast and retailer of your products! I have always stuck to original wood finish but am becoming to love the milk paint revolution! I would love to build on the little I have to embark on larger projects to rejuvenate my home! Thanks for all the new inspiration!

    383. Susan

I have been intrigued with the idea of milk paint and never tired it…..yet ! I recently discovered your blog and find it very inspiring. Tonight my dad ,aged 90 passed away beside me. He and my mom were great decorators, painting and papering their home and others for their 67 years of marriage. Now they will be decorating in heaven! Though I am old in years…never too old to try something new. I look forward to trying some new creating ideas.

    384. Alona

What an accomplishment while balancing little ones, congrats to you! I have used your tricycle to freshen up our high chair after being used from our children. Now it sits as a decoration in our eating area and reminds me of days gone by. Originally, my oldest was quite upset at the thought of me painting it. I am very happy with how it turned out. I love the pop it adds at Christmas. I have several other pieces I’d like to paint and use with the hemp oil. I’m also going to paint a set of cupboards in my laundry room as an accent piece with your ironstone paint color.

    385. Louise Alexander

Congressional, wow that’s an awesome accomplishment. I watch your blogs all the time and you do beautiful work . I’m amazed at how much you can do. I’m wanting to try the milk paint on something very soon.. thank you for sharing.

    386. Kelley McLaughlin

Congratulations on your success! I love the colors in your paint line & am so inspired by your creativity!

    387. Nancy Carroll

What an awesome adventure you embarked on. Congrats on your success! I haven’t tried milk paint but would love to. I’m partial to Luckett’s green and Tricycle.

    388. Trish Marrion

I live in Qualicum Beach, BC. I was so thrilled to find your paint in Revived Vintage.. our local retailer of all things Miss Mustard Seed. I love painting furniture. It checks off so many boxes.. not only Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.. you end up with a gorgeous one of a kind piece of furniture that comes with history.
That you so much for having a vision, and for your blog, your paint, and all your amazing videos.

    389. Bonnie swygert

Thanks for sharing your memories of how your paint was launched. You are an inspiration. I can’t wait to see what is next for you.

    390. Jane Dawson

Wow I cant believe it’s been 7 years. I have used your paint since 2013-14. It was a time in my life when I was stressed and anxious. I painted for a stress relief and creative outlet. I was good at it and pieces sold. One time you shared a piece of mine and that was a confidence booster! My favorite video is Prove Yourself Wrong. I did and now I’m a partner in an occasional shop doing what I love. Thank you!

    391. Alyson Dorr

I stumbled upon your blog a number of years ago as I began planning for my first-ever vintage market. I was quickly drawn in by your style, the beautiful colors and your business story. You have inspired so many! I love how you’ve continued to grow and have enjoyed following your interest in fine art in addition to home decor and antiques. I’ve enjoyed the creativity of using your paint on a number of antiques. Blessings on your business birthday!

    392. Deb Hawes

I love the tricycle color with the dark wax! Ima get me some of that!!

    393. Blanca

Hi Marian, I’ve been following you for a while. I think is the first time that I comment,
I’m an artist and like to paint pieces of furniture with chalk paint but I would love to try your milk paint in a beautiful vintage piece of furniture that I bought in a vintage store in old town in Temecula Ca.
      Thank you for the opportunity.
      Blanca M.

    394. Jeanine Leabeater

Congratulations on your 7year anniversary. I love reading your posts every week or so and love your enthusiasm for the projects you complete, whether furniture painting or your new artistic ventures as you put a piece of yourself in everything you do. I have never painted with milk paint but would love the chance if I’m lucky enough to win.

    395. Linda

Happy 7th milk paint. I don’t paint but really use the hemp oil in the Miss Mustard Seed line. You are truly inspirational. Thanks for for all you do.

    396. Paula McCormick

Happy Anniversary! I have so enjoyed watching you redo your new home and all the painting projects you share (both furniture and canvas), you are so talented. I haven’t painted much furniture, but I have a couple of dressers from my childhood I want to paint and I think your boxwood is the color I want to do. I purchased your hemp oil and love what it has done for my older wood furniture! Good luck with all you plan to do in the future….it’s fun to watch!

    397. Kathleen Rettig

I love the hemp oil. It brought some antiques back to life!

      Congratulations on the milestone!!

    400. Celia

Congrats on your 7 years achievement! I absolutely love following your journey and look forward to reading your blog each day from down under here in New Zealand. This has to be one of my all time favorite posts of yours because I am overjoyed to see the success you have realized with this awesome paint! I can remember that first post! I thought you were so brave and super smart to be introducing such an incredible product to the world! I bought almost every color within the first few years and each one was just as gorgeous as the last one! SO SO HAPPY for you on this 7th birthday of MMS Milk Paint. 403. Linda Strachan

What a journey! And it’s so nice to know how this has been a catalyst for your other endeavors, giving you the confidence to step out of your comfort zone and establish other creatives lines. You have told and shared a wonderful story and I’m sure you have empowered other women to fulfill their dreams too. I have never used your milk paint, but have used the Tough Coat sealer which I think is great and I love how durable it is. I am intrigued by your Hemp Oil and would love to try that someday.

Thanks for sharing such a wonderful story!

    404. Jeffrey Favreau

Thank you for sharing your life and products through the years.

      Jeffrey

    405. Patricia Mays

I love your creative spirit. And like that you share it with all of us in way that is user friendly. Making things pretty with paint one piece one person one color at a time. Keep on going. Like Dr Seuss said “Oh the places you will go”!

    406. MIchelle

Congratulations on your 7th anniversary! I have used some of your products & they are outstanding.

    407. Laura

I love your blog and have always wanted to try your products but have been too intimidated to start a project (as I’m one of those people who have big ideas then never finish!)

    408. Tannis

I love the milk paint and smooth finish when it’s all done. We have old chairs to get rid off but I can’t seem to part with them as it was my second project with milk paint and I still love how they turned out.

    409. Kelly

Congratulations on your 7th Anniversary! I enjoy all of your posts so much and I am in love with your milk paint. I can’t wait to do my next piece using Artissimo. My favorite is Typewriter, but I love how Artissimo looks on pieces too, so I’m excited to see how it looks on my china cabinet. Thank you for inspiring me and so many others to try your milk paint.

    410. Susan

Happy birthday! Your story is totally inspiring. I’ve been following you since forever but hadn’t heard the Milk Paint story before – love it. It was through stumbling on to you and your blog that I discovered milk paint, and I’ve been a happy customer and advocate of this paint ever since, and was even lucky enough to visit your studio in Gettysburg with my mother one sunny afternoon a few years ago. I’ve painted tables, a Mora clock (!!), a church pew, a few chairs… with every intention of painting more things in the future. You made the process so accessible with your blog and videos, inspiring before/after photos, great concrete directions where you take the drama and apprehension out of what many find an intimidating process.
If I win it will be difficult to decide which 7 products to select – I’d love some more paint and would definitely be sure to include some tough coat (a lifesaver for some pieces) and absolutely hemp oil which I love and use all the time. Love the lustre.
Keep up the fantastic work, Marian – can’t wait to see where the future leads you (and us!).

    411. Jan

Those blues……. I’m itching to try this paint!

    412. Carol Iwaniuk

Congratulations, MMS, on reaching such a great milestone…7 years…and still going strong! I love the inspiration in your posts, and would LOVE the opportunity to win such an awesome prize.

    413. Peggy Sue Campbell

Hello! I really want to try Milk Paint, and I’d really like to start with yours! I don’t have the slightest clue what I’m doing, and always in awe of how people are so clever in learning how to do this. Thank you!

    414. Kristi Wood

This is my go to paint. I love it because you don’t have to be a perfectionist to get a great finish.

      Congrats!

    415. Cathy

Reading and rereading your story on how you achieved this was amazing…..the colors, the products and the guidance are beyond compare the VERY BEST~HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, YOUR FAMILY, AND ALL THE FOLKS THAT HAVE FOLLOWED YOU FOR THE PAST 7 YEARS!

      • Tracey Levengood

I have been a blog reader since the beginning and have thoroughly enjoyed your household projects and furniture makeovers. Thank you for sharing your talent! The 7 pieces in your example would be a wonderful starter kit for sure. Perhaps Luckett’s green and typewriter to start…

Congrats! I never would have started painting furniture if it wasn’t for you!

    417. Robin Leach

Congratulations, Marion! I can honestly say that you have been the inspiration behind every piece of furniture in my house. You helped me to “find my style” when I had none. From reading your blog I learned that I love milk painted furniture, and that furniture with with long curvy legs is my jam. I can’t thank you enough for your lessons in style, and the tutorials and the paint to make it happen. I am truly grateful to you, and happy for your successes!

    418. Sue in Northern Iowa

    419. Elaine Williamson

Wow… I remember that launch, and trying my first color choice..Ironstone , which didn’t disappoint. The other day I was at my retailer looking at the French Enamel ….. oh the possibilities . Thanks for having the vision, so the rest of us could enjoy this .

    420. Sharon Asher

I love your posts and have followed you for years. Wish upon wish I was as brave as you. Thank you for sharing the joy you have in what you do. You pick what I would need to start this journey.

    421. Jeannie

Happy Birthday! Boxwood was my favorites from the beginning, I’m a lover of all things green! I have come to love many of your colors but my first project was a chair Redo in Boxwood! I used it at my computer desk for years until I changed my “colors” then I passed the chair on to my grandson and he continues to use it at his desk! Love your blog and the many successes you have had!

    422. Michelle Powers

Wow, what an amazing story. I haven’t tried your paints yet but I have used milk paint in the past and was disappointed in the limited color choices but loved the paint. So I am excited to try your products. The colors look Fabulous! Congratulations on your Seven years. Great job.

    423. Helen

    428. Carmen

I love the blues! Thanks for inspiring me!

    429. Louise Davis

Back in the early 60’s when I was a young mother and money was tight I was happy to get old furniture to use in our home. Being an “Early American” lover as was the style then I was excited to receive a drop leaf table from my husband’s grandparents. Of course I didn’t like the wood so the solution was to paint it of course! Antiquing and all! That table was used by several generations getting an update to stay “in style”. Painting has come a long way and I still love the look of painted recyled furniture. And yes I recently painted a piece blue of course and topped it with MMS white wax. Love it! Congratulations on your successful ventures. Your vision, hard work and diligence has reaped the much deserved rewards!

    430. Kelly FitzGerald

Really? I can even enter from Australia, Marian? MMS milk paint is my favourite to use, I’ve tried others, but keep going back to it. The colours are beautiful, and it just WORKS!!
I know this post is about your milk paint, but your oil painting endeavours have spurred me on, not to take up oil painting… But to take up buying oil paintings! I seek them out everywhere, and old frames, too. I love the thrill of the chase, and our house is fast becoming a gallery! So thank you, Marian.

    431. Anda

Congratulations! I love the colors! 🙂

    432. Vicki Cooley

Happy 7th Birthday Marian! This is my favorite all time post! I loved reading your story, your beginning and there is no end to your accomplishments. You’ve taught me a lot about life through your experiences! I have never used milk paint but I am going to finally do it! I’d love to win your “7” prize and finally try out milk paint. The color choice is hard to decide. I also can’t wait to try your hemp oil and brushes!
      Congratulations on your success!?
      Vicki Cooley

    433. Kelly

Happy birthday! Lucky number 7 too! I have never used milk paint but want to try. Love your blog 🙂

Congratulations on your 7th anniversary! I personally have always loved your blues and whites. Love, love your blog through the years. Thanks for the wonderful journey!!

    435. Barbra

I have always used chalk paint . I am just itching to use your milk paint, as I have so many projects that need attention but have not been done because I can’t seem to find the right colors . Your’s are perfect! Also I would so love to be the winner as it seems I rarely win anything .

    436. Cathy

I’m surprised it has only been seven years! I must have started using your paints shortly after the launch, I just can’t remember when. The packaging may have changed, but the quality has not. Simply love this paint.

    437. Robin

thank you Marian for that “pie in the sky” idea!
I’ve used several of your products and still my favorite is mixing unique colors…I’m grateful you and others whom have shared those unique colors as well.

Sometimes with milk paint I’m not sue what the end look will be but I’ve learned that’s just part of the adventure.
      congrats on 7 (good number)

    438. Cindy D

Hi Marian. I have yet to try your Hemp Oil. From all the tutorials I’ve seen and have taken advantage of from you, the Hemp Oil sounds outstanding. Thank you for this generous chance of a thoughtful gift.

      Cindy

    439. Rebecca - Knoxville, TN

Love your whole story from grass roots, or more appropriately a Mustard Seed, to a big beautiful plant! I see you as an All – American girl with a dream, a prayer and a can do attitude. You truly are an inspiration!

    440. Lori

Happy Birthday and Congratulations! I love your Milk Paint! My favorite colors are Kitchen Scale and Boxwood, but I have used many of your colors. I also love your hemp oil, although it took me awhile before I was brave enough to try it. Thank you for your bravery Marion, and stepping out to follow your dream!!

    441. Denise

      Congratulations on your amazing journey!

    442. Sandy

Happy Birthday to your milk paint line! I painted my night stand in flow blue about 6 years ago. I love the color and it still looks great!! Thank you ?

    443. BeverlyO

Wow! I cannot believe it has been that long nor that you have made so many changes in your product! I would probably choose everything in paint that leans toward the color blue or maybe just wax or hemp oil for my wood counter top. Gosh, choosing something free is harder than buying!

    444. Ellette

I love all the colors! Congrats on 7 years!

    445. Anne Gregory

I have never heard of Milk paint until today. What a wonderful idea. I have to get some. A new adventure.
      Thanks, Anne

    446. michelle anderson

Congratulations!! I would love to try typewriter milk paint! Thanks!!

    447. Sherry Kurtz

Marian! Congratulations on having the courage to jump in and follow your creative heart. It’s inspiring to me. Happy 7th Anniversary!

    448. Debbie

Been following your progress from the beginning—and I’m not ever surprised by your success. Keep on growing! Happy Birthday!

    449. Lorie PIRTLE

Happy Birthday MMSMP! Love the product, and the amazing journey behind it

    450. Linda Jensen

Congrats! I have used your mustard yellow paint on an old dresser… and loved it. I want to do some other furniture in blue and green colorways and want to try your waxes as well. Thanks for the opportunity.

      • June Marshall

Congratulations on your 7th Anniversary. Your tiny seed grew into a big beautiful business.

    451. Olivia

Happy 7th Birthday. Would like to try any of the shades in green.

    452. Monica Novak

Mustard seed yellow is the color I can’t wait to try. Your journey is inspiring.

    453. Susan

Happy Birthday! I have used your paint (mustard seed yellow) and I love it! I would love to try the hemp oil. Miss you at Lucketts, but I am enjoying your sharing your new home.

    454. Sally Christiansen

Congratulations! I love your paint and have kind of a funny way of getting it. I live in a small town in Nebraska and don’t have a retailer near me, I know I can order online but I like to see the the paint colors with my own eyes and not through a computer screen. My Daughter lives in North Carolina and I like to visit her and her family every two or three months so I plan ahead and go to Carolina Pine in Goldsboro to get my paint and supplies.

    455. Margaret

Congratulations! You have accomplished a lot in just seven years. Adding beauty and preserving family histories. May you continue to go from strength to strength.
(I have used your paints on an inherited dining table, painting the leaves alternating blue and green to fit our house in Puerto Rico.)

    456. Mary

I love your milk paint, hemp oil and tough coat and your blog! Happy 7th Birthday!

    457. Gail Tyler

Wow, 7 years. Congrats and my favorite is still tricycle.

    458. Karen Blankenship

I have never painted any furniture before but I have several pieces that my mother painted-and boy do they look awful now! It’s probably been twenty years since she painted them. I have one end table that I keep in my kitchen to put my laptop on-and I store Bell jars in it. I’ve always wanted to try your milk paint and would it be lovely to paint it a soft blue? (Note: I normally don’t like blue but it has been creeping into my favorites over the last few years).

    459. Terri

I remember the day you made the announcement! You were excited. We were excited. And the world was forever changed in a great way! Thank you! MMS Milk Paint has been the go-to paint choice for our hobby. I love using a bit of unmixed powder to create bands of pigment and am always amazed how adding a bit of water to set on the item receiving the paint can even have a water-color effect. Layering and creating chippy/textural paint with colors peaking through is another favorite of mine. Of course, I’ve also used MMS Milk Paint to paint some furniture and have never been disappointed. Lastly, Hemp Oil…well, let’s just say it’s a staple around her, both inside and out. Which color is my favorite? Artissimo, oh my. Farmhouse White. Boxwood. I bought a boatload of Apron Strings when it was retired :). Kitchen Scale. Mora. Tricycle. I have the paint stored in clear, glass jars and peel the label off of the package to label. Who doesn’t love a beautiful display, too!

    460. Debbie

I love your creative style. Thanks for the chance to win.

    461. Debra Packard (booth65)

I totally love your story!! I remember reading your blog from time to time, then one day you appeared on the local news and I found out you where from Biglerville! How awesome! Eventually, we met, I took a class at your studio, Ect. Ect. at least for me, it was a highlight !! Wishing you more success ahead!!

    462. Cindy

My first purchase of MMS milk paint was for a beautiful yellow (at least it said so on the pkg) but when I mixed it…it turned out to be green!! Oh well…I liked the green just fine and used it up…and kept on going. BTW…I use the Hemp oil all the time to refresh wood both old and new. Just bought a brand new bottle last week.

Love your blog…and your products. Happy birthday!

    463. Susan Moll

      You make me tired!!!

But you do inspire, and I look forward to all of your wonderful posts, stories and ups and downs of life.

      Thank you:)

      Susan M.

    464. Rebekah Waggoner

Congratulations and thank you for sharing your journey with us! I’d love to try some new colors on pieces I’ve been putting off painting. Also, curious about hemp oil on my boots!

    465. Doreen

Something about that ‘prove yourself wrong’ commercial brings tears to my eyes. I know. Cheesy :).

I’ve only used your paint on one fairly major piece that I picked up at Brimfield a few years ago. It was a $20 cabinet that when opened has bifold doors that are great for storage. In spite of having painted more pieces that I too can count, this remains my favorite. That’s why not more than two hours ago I made the decision to switch gears on a console piece I recently purchased that I had initially thought of chalk painting but have now decided to use milk paint. Since it was previously painted with what looks like cheap paint I spent some time sanding this morning and still have a ways to go. I’m not sure what color I will use but probably a mix of ironstone, linen and perhaps marzipan. I have all three (as well as several others) but have yet to check out your newer colors so if I don’t win a trip to my local supplier may be in order. But I’m sending good vibes out to the universe that I WILL WIN!! I WILL! I WILL!!

Love everything you do Marion, and you deserve all the success that you’ve achieved and more. Congratulations!!

    466. Portia Young

I’m so happy for your success! Linen is and always be my go to!

    467. Linda Ashford

Wow…what an inspiration that story is. Interesting as a follower and consumer as we don’t usually hear the story behind the product. Thank you for that.
I’ve had a vintage shop for the last twenty five years and am so happy such wonderful products are out and that painting furniture is an ok thing now. I’m so enjoying changing the image on furniture that is sort of a loser to something someone falls in love with because of your beautiful color pallet. Thank you for that.

    468. Donna Perry

I LOVE your milk paint! It gives me the natural-looking aged look I love. Waiting to see how it will chip or crackle is so satisfying and fun. I’ve used almost all of your whites, plus Bergere and Curio. I recently purchased Shutter Gray, and it has become my favorite, with its little hint of blue. I’ve painted many pieces of my furniture and other smaller projects with your paint, and will soon be painting an antique dresser that I’ll use as a kitchen island. Oh, and I love your top coats, too.

    469. Tara Grangroth

      Loved seeing the process!!

    470. Elaine F Garrison

I love your versatility of products and videos. I especially loved your posts and pictures from your trip in France. You’re approachable attitude makes me want to try your products. Thanks for being such an uplifting and inspirational guide in the Land of Paint.

    471. susan kraus

I love this paint! I love to see the transformation of all my projects! Awesome to be celebrating 7 years looking forward to the next 7!

    472. Beverly Stearns

Happy Birthday, Milk Paint, and Thank-you, Marian for sharing your creative journey with us! I have followed your blog since 2010, so I’ve been here to witness the growth of your first product line. I have the most adorable little table that I painted (and you autographed) at a milk paint workshop in Waunakee, Wisconsin a few years back. I still love it, and have painted lots of pieces since then. I love the way milk paint lends a sense of history to even a newer piece of furniture. And you just never know exactly how a piece will turn out, which makes it a lot of fun to “watch paint dry”! Grain Sack and Linen are my faves. I also love the brush cleaning puck which I keep in a perfectly-sized round lidded container between uses.

    473. Kathie

Congratulations on your success! I enjoy your blog! Thank you for the opportunity to win these awesome products.

    474. Sherri Gonyier

Happy Anniversary! This is wonderful, I love seeing all the pieces you paint. I would love to try the paint and waxes. Thank You

      Thank you for the entry

Here is to another 7 years of your fantastic blog x

    477. Beth

I’m so happy for you and all of your accomplishments! My daughter just bought her first home at 26. The previous owners left behind a really cute cabinet, that just needs a little love. We’re thinking Boxwood would be perfect with little glass knobs for the handles. Still in the unpacking phase and lots to be done, but the cabinet is definately on the “to-do” list. Thanks Marian for all of your tips and ideas so we can try to make our own homes beautiful like yours.

    478. MaryEllen

Congratulations and Happy 7th Milk Paint Birthday! Love when you share stories about your success of getting started. I always wanted to try the hemp oil and bonding agent. Love all your colors so to choose is hard but manageable.

    479. Stephanie

I love the colors! I have an couple of pieces of schloss and Moira in our home.

    480. Suzy

Congratulations on your 7th birthday!! I am so happy for you! I had no idea that there was such a thing as milk paint before I found your website. I love the greens, bergere, mustard seed yellow, and curio. I am getting ready to rebuild and refinish a chest of drawers for sewing supplies. Mustard seed yellow would be perfect!

    481. Beth

Happy anniversary! I’ve been a fan of your blog & paint products for years. Linen & farmhouse white are my two favorite colors. Your creativity is definitely inspiring.

    482. Mary Ann

Marion, you are truly an inspiration to your readers (including me)! Congratulations on 7 years of your milk paint line. I’ve followed your blog faithfully and am so happy to say I got to meet you last spring at Junk Bonanza!
What a fun giveaway! Thank you!

    483. Rose

      Congratulations on the big 7!
I started using your milk paint line when it was in its early stages. I went through many a ”box” of paint. ?
I feel like I learned and grew with you over the last 6+ years. Thank you for that, and for sharing your journey and inspiring me to start my own journey. I am still plodding along finding my way but you have given me the courage to carry on even when I’m not sure of my destination.
I have tried many different paints and brands now as your line has not always been that easy for me to acquire, but milk paint and especially your brand are still my favourite.
Wishing you continued success in all of your endeavours.

    484. Debbie W

Happy 7th!!! I love following the progression in all your endeavors! Thanks for being open and inspiring through the years! Great giveaway!

    487. Cindy A

Congrats on your well-deserved success. The colors are gorgeous…French Enamel makes me swoon. Wishing many more years of inspiring us!

    488. Jan Barron

I remember the days of candle drips on plastic light covers before spray painting them to create authentic candelabra covers and babies crawling across the laid down newspaper as you painted furniture while reaching with one hand to catch a runaway leg.

It may be that I have no earthly right to say this but it feels right to say it, “I am so, so proud of you.” Congratulations and Happy Milk Paint Birthday!

    489. Shar

Congratulations on your seven year milestone. It’s amazing what you have accomplished in that time. I enjoy using MMSMP and wish you continued success with your new endeavors. Thanks for all the inspiration you provide to so many!

    490. Cindy Stewart

Your milk paint is like having a wild, fun girlfriend who likes to color her hair red, wears big colorful earrings, and is totally unpredictable! You love hanging out with her just to see what’s going to happen!

    491. Kelly

Happy Anniversary and many more, milk paint!
You’re so inspiring- grateful to watch your talent make this world sparkle

    496. Toni

I think I am too late… but never mind… I love this paint too.. I found it about 5 years ago… Artissimo was the colour I realised I was after…. I initially purchased curio, but it was too brown. I wanted to paint the windows and doors of my sons bedroom, the local paint shop told me the blue I wanted in there was going to be too expensive for me and so I should change my idea!!! so I went to the internet looking around and that is when I come across mms milk paint at my favourite outlet For the Love Creations in South Australia. Sada was my complete inspiration… and I haven’t looked back… thank you for this paint I just love it…

    497. Carole Prisk

Happy anniversary of your milk paint launch. I would love to win!

    498. Dianne Phillips

Congratulations on all your success!! Thanks for such an amazing story and such beautiful paints!

    499. Julia W

Congratulations on your amazing anniversary and thanks for the giveaway! I have a “butler’s tray” Bombay Company coffee table from my newlywed years that greatly benefited from a coat of Typewriter and some hemp oil. It has gone on to live many more days in a much improved form! I love following your blog and seeing your ideas come to life. Here’s to many more!

    500. Michele

    502. Sandy Johnson

I would love to try this paint! I have heard great things about it.

    503. Jeanne

I absolutely love your milk paint; the simplicity and connection to an ancient art, the ease of use, and the dizzying array of application techniques and resulting looks. The colors are fantastic. I’m searching for just the right piece to be the proud wearer of the Kitchen Scale I’ve been hoarding, and have kitchen chairs lined up for a dressing of Schloss.

Congratulations on your anniversary, and many blessings on your future chapters. Thank you for the creativity, skills and courage you share with all of us. Your story is remarkable…just a hint of what can happen when we let God lead us into becoming the person He created. Cheers to you!

    504. Laura

I wish your paint was available here in Palm Springs, California! I have been using chalk style paints and like them. I would love to try milk paint on an old, old sideboard in my dining room and brighten it up! Congrats on the first seven years!

    511. Shawn

I would love to give “YOUR” milk paint a try since I have painted furniture but never with milk paint. I would love to try the Ironstone color since I associate you with Ironstone. Thanks for the give away. I hope to win!!
      Shawn

    512. Krista

I love painting with your milk paint. My favorite color is Boxwood!!

    521. Gina

Happy Milk Paint Anniversary! I love milk paint and I really love Hemp Oil. I found a precious little cabinet at the flea market a couple of years ago. But it was in rough shape with good bones. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to paint it and decided that the bottle of Hemp Oil I had sitting in the cabinet needed to come and show me what it could do! I was NOT disappointed one little bit! It turned in to a gorgeous glowing little gem and loved the oil. I have since used it on several of my older pieces that I don’t paint and they love the drink of this wonderful oil. I love your milk paint because it is so natural and goes on with such good coverage. Congratulations on all your success!

    522. Lisa

I’ve used chalk paint but would love to try milk paint! I really enjoy your blog!

    523. Betty

Jeremiah 29:11-13 New International Version (NIV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

    526. Marixa

I love your paints and use them exclusively for any furniture painting I do. I have 5 original paint colors and 4 newer ones. I love the softness of the color palette too. Congratulations!

    527. Traci

Congratulations, Marian and Miss Mustard Seed! I love this paint line and the accompanying products. My favorite color is Lucketts Green! My house is filled with colors of Grain Sack, Linen, Shutter Gray, Lucketts Green, and I’ve even used Tricycle. I’m excited to try Aviary, Bergere, Layla’s Mint, and Mustard Seed. Thank you for all the inspiration and peace of mind this product line provides. I never thought painting and restoring furniture could be so much fun! Giving old pieces of furniture new life is such a rewarding experience for me and the experience is different with each piece and each color of paint.

    528. Pamela O'Donnell

Congratulations on your anniversary! I love your paint!

    529. Marie in AZ

Hi, Marian–Congratulations on this momentous occasion! I have been hesitant to try milk paint only because I wasn’t happy with my one venture into chalk paint…but milk paint is not chalk paint, and I would dearly love to try yours! Your palette is so beautiful. Thank you for all your wonderful tutorials, too!

    530. Melissa

From day 1, Lucketts Green has been my favorite color. I’d REALLY love to paint my kitchen cabinets in this color!!

    531. jenw

I rather new to your paint, but love Artissimo. And I have a packet of Ironstone just waiting for me to paint a dresser to use as our kitchen island!

The paint isn’t what keeps me coming to your blog daily though. It’s uplifting, encouraging messages. Thanks for sharing that bit of you! Congratulations on the anniversary!

    532. Robin

      Congratulations!

    533. Maureen

Happy milk paint birthday! I love your milk paint and have several items in my home painted with it. Probably my favorite is the Tricycle Red china cabinet I have in my laundry room… thought it’s hard to pick just one. I’ve tried a few other brands and am always disappointed. It is so awesome to see how far an idea and a passion can go. God is so good!! Thanks for sharing your ideas and passion and awesome products with all of us.

    534. Carolyn

Just spent yesterday afternoon painting 3 pieces in Farmhouse White, but my favorite color is Lucketts Green! I love your entire paint line and wish you congratulations on your success! It’s been inspiring to watch your journey!

    535. Shelly

Dream big. Dreams do come true! Congratulations on your anniversary. I am so not crafty yet I have completed several milk paint projects successfully with wonderful results. I also have found many uses for hemp oil since discovering your line. You inspire me so much!

    536. Rick S

My memory was when you came to Sun Prairie WI. I never thought I would meet you, but I did. You were even nicer in person than expected.
I know your future is bright.

    537. Becca

What a wonderful story! I have an old tiger oak dresser that is dire need of a face lift and was thinking of using milk paint on at least some of it. 🙂

    538. Cheryl Jarl

I love your paint and finishing product line. I started buying it when you had the boxes. I kept them and use them for adding height to vignettes when styling our home, and each year wrap a few gift cards at Christmas. Our kids know to keep the boxes and not toss them in the recycle pile with the rest of the wrapping paper.
Thanks for the fun ride with your products, still love them.

    539. Frances Kaklikian

Happy Birthday to Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint!!!
I missed the chance to win the amazing Birthday prize but wanted to share my favorite memory anyway.

Aside from using and loving this amazing paint, my favorite memory is from the last spring show at Lucketts that you attended. I had won the bid for a red white and blue striped top you sold, and of course I HAD to wear it to the show.
As I walked up to you gave me a huge smile and said, “I have that top!”. I followed with, “you had this top”. We both laughed and took pictured together.

Those pictures are some of my favorites. Thank for for the memory. 🙂

    540. Theresa

I absolutely love, love, love your paint and colors. It’s so fun to be able to mix my own color! Absolutely a Mustard Seed of Faith into a thriving business. You are fearless!! I would be honored if I win your package!!!! Thank you for this amazing journey

I have never tried milk paint but I would love to. I also think the Hemp Oil is very interesting. I have been reading you for awhile and think you do a great job.

Miss Mustard Seed, congratulations and happy anniversary!
I love everything about your story, your blog, and the work you do. I still have not gotten around to get my feet wet with your milk paint products (or should I say my brush wet?), but I plan to!
      I hope I win!
      Again, congratulations!

I usually stick with the off white colors but I would love to try some of the other colors like Tricycle or Curio.

    558. Shelley

I love your blog Marian! I haven’t tried milk paint but would love too! One of my favorite looks was when you and Kriste used milk paint on her master bedroom wall. I thought that was such a cool look.

    559. Cheryl

I’ve loved following your journey, and adore your paint – so excited that it’s actually available in Australia. I’d love to try any of the pale blues – they are my ideal romantic shade! xAli

Your colors look organic, which I love! And milk paint is unique in its effects. I am so glad you went for it seven years ago, both for your sake and for all of us who love your paint line! Congratulations on achieving a dream!

I suspect and hope you will have many successes in your life. You have the courage to try and that’s half the battle right there. And then you persevere and practice and keep trying. Success becomes inevitable, but also less important than the wonderful journey that started with trying. I admire your courage and the amazing talent that it is revealing in you.

    563. Beth

Congratulations on 7 years! It’s so amazing to see what God can do if we trust him. You have helped me learn what my style is and that it’s ok to let go of family items that I don’t like plus a lot of other things. I love how you have your own style and you don’t get caught up in fads. You are so talented and level-headed about the things you do. It’s very inspiring!

    564. Michele M.

Oh, Marian – a big big congrats to you!

I am sitting here grinning till my face hurts for you – and your company – your colors, and your talents are A+++!!!

I would loooovvvveeee to win anything from your line!

My milk paint story is years ago I bought green from you – and I got confused cuz I didn’t understand the directions and have a childlike way of ignoring them anyway…….but what I did was add the powder of green into a warm white and custom made that paint. I LOVED it haha – and I sooooo need to get back to redoing furniture – I have quite a few pieces to start or finish. I need to take a good look at your 25 colors now – wow – that’s amazing. Yay to you!!!!

ps – sorry I am late, have been travelling and unplugged a bit and just catching up.

I know someone has already won but I wanted to add my congratulations. I’ve used your milk paint in several rooms in my fixer upper. It still looks great on all the pieces. I love the new colors too! Building a she shed soon and will have to try some more colors. Congratulations on your little dream idea turning into a successful business! 7 years! WOOHOO

      Marian,
I’m a little late to this post. I have read every, single blog post you have made…albeit sometimes I don’t get to them for a couple of weeks! I have been a customer of your milk paint line from the beginning! I actually still have my boxes from my original purchases and even the paint card. It hangs on my inspiration board in my studio. Just wanted to let you know, you still inspire me, all these years later! I have loved your creative journey and refer to you to my husband as my “online friend, Marian”. Keep up the great work, I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!!!

    567. Joan Arning

I’ve been debating painting a corner cabinet! I’d like to win the Hemp Oil!

    568. Angela Beck

I am a beginner but look forward to watching your videos…again, and learning.
The hardest part will be deciding WHICH of your beautiful colors to use!

    569. Synje

I have not had the pleasure of trying the topcoat sealer or any of the brushes. I have been using your milk paint for a few years now and I am still exploring new custom colours and finishes. The possibilities are endless .

    570. Mg

In the planning stages of painting many pieces in my home. Just bought several colors to try out. Would live to try a few more!
