It has become a Lucketts tradition, it seems, to have a twin pair of French-style chairs at the Miss Mustard Seed booth! Well, we do not want to break that trend, now, do we?
As a recap, here is the pair from 2014…
...from 2015…
…and from 2016…
And here is the pair for 2017 (before their makeover, of course)…
They are a new-ish pair, so they are in good, sturdy condition, and they sit a little higher, making them ideal for pulling them up to a table. The frames are nice as they are, but they look a little too “factory finished”, so I will most likely paint them. I’m going to wait to decide until they are stripped and I “try on” some fabric to see what I want to do. I always base the wood/paint and color decisions on the fabric I’m going to use.
Now, I almost didn’t buy these because of the nailhead trim. I have removed enough nailhead trim to know it is just miserable. But, this nailhead trim is the “faux” variety, which is in strips. One in every 5-6 nails heads is actually a real nailhead, so this will come off pretty easily.
Kriste is going to work on stripping them while I’m away and I’ll start working on them when I get back.
Always fun to work on a pair of Frenchies…
By the way, our China trip has been amazing so far. I think it’s always humbling to step outside of your little part of the world and experience life beyond it. I can’t wait to tell you more about it.
LOVE your pic of you standing on the Great Wall of China ! You look a bit like a tourist but a very chic one I might add ! Enjoy every moment of your trip ! xox
Marian,
You are standing in almost the same spot where I had my picture taken while visiting the Great Wall. I was standing on the opposite side of the Wall with both my hands on the Wall. Seeing the Great Wall was one of the things in my mind’s unwritten list of things to do in my life. Your hair looks great up as well as down. Great decision to grow your hair out.
Love all the pairs of French chairs for Lucketts! This year’s pair has great bones, and I can’t wait to see how you transform them.
Safe travels…
Judith
just fabulous !!!
I can’t wait to hear about your trip! Beautiful photo!
And of course, I can’t wait to see the chairs refinished too.
Love your outfit! Cute AND practical for spending hours on your feet–I may have to take fashion tips from you! 😉
I’ll SECOND that! I have those boots, never considered pairing them with tights & the perfect dress. Once again, thanks for the inspiration, Marian. Happy, Productive Trails!

Wow!!! The Great Wall, fantastic trip….have a great time!!!
Love the chic traveler photo! And the frenchies? Already amazing.
look at you! I hope you have a great time
I, too, love that picture of you by the Great Wall!! And I can’t believe you are blogging while on vacation, of sorts!! Hope you can relax & enjoy your trip!
What a wonderful emissary you are for the United States. Now China will know that, as a people, we are cute. (not to mention talented, clever and hard-working).
You were good to send us the snapshot of you on the wall. I’d be very interested in photos of you working with the folks who help translate your beautiful designs into beautiful things. I wonder if all of the details will travel across cultures.
As clever as you are, I’m sure you’re taking notes for the memoir you might write (definitely post-Luckett’s) about your journey from start-up blogger with a readership of mostly friends and relatives to the globe-trotting owner of a diversified, international business. I’m very proud of you.
I can’t believe you are at the Great Wall!! How exciting!! Enjoy your trip!
Love seeing the past ‘traditions’! Lovely! Hope you are having a blast, seeing more of God’s creation and culture!
So nice to see you on the Great Wall. All the best to you and your mom as you continue on this enlightening journey.
Thank you for the tip on paint color selection based on fabric. That makes perfect sense. I purchased a similar french chair at a Salvation Army store. Also, ugh! It has upholstery nailheads. I am a novice…I had no idea these were difficult to remove. Not looking forward to that part 😉
Hi Marian:
You look like a teenager from the States! I’m living vicariously through my birthday sister. I am so happy for you. Nobody deserves it more. Miss Mustard Seed is also Miss Humility which makes your success even more enjoyable to watch.
Nancy
Such a nice picture, Marian! Have a great time!
Love those “French twin” chairs! If only I was close enough to go to Lucketts! I think I would find everything I love right at your place! How fun this would be!
Blessings! Keeping you and your Mom in my prayers!
So nice to see you out traveling! I love your outfit! Casual, sporty, feminine, comfortable! I like that look!
Can’t wait to see what you do with the chairs, I’m sure they will be lovely. And off all topics I have been looking for a good leather strap for my new camera and I noticed you have one for your camera. Was wondering if you can say where you got it and how you like it? Yours looks like what I have been searching for. Hope you’re having a great trip.
Love, love, love the previous year’s chairs!! Looking forward to seeing what you do with this year’s twins. God bless you on your trip with your mother. Be safe and well and thanks for staying in touch with your fan club!
What a cute picture of you! Love your outfit…so artsy!
