I wasn’t sure if I was going to get a second tree this year. It’s been a little hard to really dig into the holiday decorating with it being our first year in this house, but as Christmas crept closer, I just couldn’t resist. I mean, I had acquired an antique goat cart this summer with the idea that it would hold a Christmas tree. So, it just had to happen.
I picked out a squat spruce tree, which somehow seemed perfect for the goat cart…
The tree is kept in a wooden bucket with a box and a paint bucket liner inside to hold the trunk and the water. I also added a couple of rocks from the yard to keep the box from shifting.
Because the tree is so squat, the branches rest against the wall, making it a little sturdier in my make-shift stand.
It’s decorated with some white lights, felt star garland (bought from Restoration Hardware a couple of seasons ago) and some grain sack, ticking, and linen stars, hearts, and mini stockings. I also clipped on more of the battery-powered candles from Balsam Hill. It’s simple and just what I wanted.
It’s so fragrant and I love that it can be seen in the front window from outside the house.
There’s just something cozy about that.
Just a few more presents to buy and wrap and I think the Parsons’ house is ready for Christmas!
I love it, so cute in the goat cart!
I agree completely!
The perfect size which will give off that Christmas scent that is so wonderful and I love the goat cart too!
Super Cute Marian !
It is beautiful, I love the shape of it and the pretty things adorning it. And the goat cart makes it perfect!

Its perfect in your goat cart! It adds so much to the dining room!
It is absolutely lovely. Very inviting!
It is just darling! You have such an eye and are so creative. The cart really adds to the vintage look. I love your blog!
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
So lovely! And out of reach of Sebastian?!
So pretty! Did you make the ticking and linen stars? Do you have a source for the ticking fabric?
Absolutely adorable!
Love it. Makes me want to do something with a tight corner of our dining room which also faces the front. Nothing much in there at the moment. 🙂
My favorite thing from your Christmas list this year!
Dear Marion, your cart is the cutest tree stand ever! I think if there was a contest on unique tree stand yours would win! lol I just have to tell you that you have given me so much inspiration over the years. I love your blue and white theme and since I am a blue and white girl your blog has given me lots of ideas. Thank you for your special talent and that you share it with everyone! Have a wonderful Christmas Season.
xx A sincere fan! Jo
Thank you for sharing the inside scoop on tree No. 2. I can almost smell the pine. Your blog is not only educational and inspiring, it helps me feel like I have done my own serious decorating for Xmas, without having to do it.
I remember your detailed account about finally getting your goat cart. Too cute. I remember the klickie klack
of carts/horses on cobble stone in Naples, Italy.
I love the tree. Awesome!!
Love that sweet little tree in your goat cart! I have one that is in need of restoration, this post makes me want to go pull it out of storage and get to work!
I have a question for you about your chandeliers. I was lucky enough to acquire 2 Miss Mustard Seed like chandeliers this summer, the finish on them seems a bit dull. I’m wondering if you did any restoration on yours?
Very pretty! I thought about putting a real. Tree in the dinning room this year.
What a perfect little tree. The goat cart I saw just spectacular! What I wouldn’t do for one of those! Thanks for sharing. You have been in my thoughts this past week. Have a peaceful holiday with your lovely family.
Oh my! Love that little cart! Tree looks so perfect in it and in that spot! Big smile!! 🙂
Darling country Christmas Tree. Just so darn cute in the goat cart…..now everyone is gonna be on the hunt to find one, each time you decorate it with something else…Love it.
Fabulous!…….what a wonderful idea to use the goat cart to hold the Christmas tree……now….what can you use it for in the summer months?
Love it ALL! The cart is perfect for that tree! And the decorations are beautiful!
Love the cart & the tree is perfect…Christmas is such fun!
P E R F E C T I O N!! I adore this and wish you could just overnight an exact replica to my house. Merry Christmas and God bless you and your family now and always!
I love the tree and how you have it displayed
Beautiful glow of warm whites and pale blues, – my favorite palette!
That cart is the perfect perch for your tree!
I’ve been waiting to see the goat cart! Love it! I also love the tiny stockings. Where did you get them, or did you make them? Since following your blog, I have been collecting white ironstone. When my husband questioned my need for another thing to collect, I blamed you! Sorry.
Marion, You have done a wonderful job. Talk about Christmas inspiration!!
This tree and cart might be my favorite decoration so far!
Such a cute and clever idea!
Such wonderful whimsey it has become my December conputer wallpaper!

I’ve been struggling with decorating my house this year, which was wondering if it was because it’s our first Christmas in it. So glad I’m not alone! I think that I also get distracted by the other ongoing projects (painting the front entry, staining the bannister, hanging up everyday artwork, etc) that we still have going on. I find when I start decorating it makes me want to finish some of these projects off. I’m like my golden retrievers when they see a squirrel. Squirrel! I always love to see how you’re going to decorate, and have enjoyed your posts this week. And the squat tree in the goat cart is adorable!
Oh my! That is the cutest tree ever!
