When I was out shopping last week, I found a little goat bell. It was inexpensive, I think $4.00, so I picked it up. I initially envisioned using it as a Christmas decoration, with some evergreens, etc., making it into a small wreath.
The leather was really dry, but a little Hemp Oil hydrated it and made it pliable again.
As soon as I finished photographing the bell, a thought hit me… I bet this would fit on my rocking horse! How cute would that be?
And sure enough, it’s a perfect fit.
I will add some live greens to make it a bit more festive for Christmas, but I love it as it is, too.
Some things are just meant to be…
For details on the horse and how I painted it, check out THIS POST.
Adorable!
It’s perfect!
So perfect. Don’t cha just love when those epiphanies happen?
I love this!!!!! Very cute!!
Have you ever written a post about how to find good shops/dealers? Tricks or tips for finding out the best places locally? Also might you ever offer a Brocante day in your area?
I LOVE IT
Do you think hemp oil could then be used on my riding saddle?? Love the way the bell looks around your horse!!!
Definitely! I would test it out on a small area first, just to make sure you like the look, but you can use it on all leather and it won’t go rancid.
You are a GENIUS !! 🙂
I love the way they made sure that bell was staying on that collar. Perfect for your horsie!
Precious!
Happy horse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just gotta love when things like come together. Nice little addition to Rocky!
Haha I thought you were going to put it on the dog!
Serendipity!!??
Always great ideas. Thank you for sharing your creativeness (is that a real word??).
Hey Marion,
Your post about the “horse” bell made me think of some people I know in my horse world that have used bells on horses that were companions for blind horses. That makes it easier for the blind horse to track their buddy. But the incredible thing that a friend who runs a rescue for blind horses told me is her blind horses can be in a pasture with their buddy horse(without a bell on) and walk across the pasture right up to their buddy. Pretty cool. They also learn their way around their area they live in and don’t bump into things as long as they stay in the pasture they have become accustomed to living in. I love anything horse related and have a home that is all equestrian decor, so I totally enjoyed the horse bell post!
Perfection. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
I love it! How perfect is that! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Oh… soooo cute!! It’s finds like this that make treasure hunting a ours joy! Especially when you’re not sure where something will work, but you know it will somewhere. When that somewhere is a homerun, doesn’t it make your heart sing?!?! Makes up for all those “I shoulda left that one behinds”. My favorite vindication!!!????
I think the bell on the horse looks perfect. Today I found a chalk ware Santa face probably from 5he 50′ s. I usually like older, but I think he will look great in a grouping with so every 50’s plastic Roly poly Santas. Don’t you love it when it all comes together?
Its the perfect accessory! I love when you find something small and inexpensive that makes such a big statement.
Oh my gosh….that is just perfect!!!
Perfect !
super cute
YES YES YES
I love your bell! I have collected old bells for years after one of my grandfather gave me his bell collection. Yours is a lovely “find” and perfect for your pony!
