the biggest piece of ironstone ever

My mom and I went out shopping on Friday in the hopes of finding cool things to sell in the online shop and at Lucketts in May.  It was a little slow at first, but we ended up finding some really great things.  Of course, we were hunting for ironstone among other things and found some pretty pieces.  I rounded the corner to check out one booth and spotted this... You might think, from this  (read more …)

Ironstone & Opera Glasses

My mom and I went out shopping on Monday and, while most of the stuff I bought is to sell, I can't help picking through the ironstone to give myself first dibs!  I'm also starting to hang onto pieces for the Luckett's Spring Market in May.  I don't want to sell it all in the online shop and then scramble to find awesome stuff for the shoppers who come to Lucketts.  So, I'll sell some and I'll  (read more …)

Tips on Shopping for Ironstone

I wrote a post a couple of years ago about ironstone, but I thought I would write an updated post.  I've been showing a lot of my recent finds and selling some in my online shop and that has brought out a lot of questions about ironstone. What is ironstone? I answered this question in my first ironstone 101 post, so I'll quote myself.  "Ironstone china is a glaze-covered earthenware. It was  (read more …)

Ironstone Haul

Ladies, I am so giddy with how well things have been going on The Mustard Seed Pages!!  If you don't know what that is, check out THIS POST.  Hundreds of items have been listed and I know a lot of things have been bought and sold.  It seems like it's a success so far.  Many of you have had great suggestions for it and I'm making the immediately tweaks that I can and keeping the rest in mind as it  (read more …)

Arranging linens, silver and ironstone…

As I was preparing for Christmas day, I realized what a mess the cabinets, drawers and shelves where I keep my tableware, serving pieces and linens were.  After a few years of buying, making and using things for photo shoots and then shoving them in no particular order behind a closed door, it was hard to find anything.  Linens were balled up, unorganized.  Serving pieces were stacked, balanced  (read more …)

Ironstone & an Ektorp Sofa Review

I mentioned I got a new haul of ironstone last week.  Well, here it is... Not only is it a lot of ironstone, but a lot of really great pieces including this four piece tureen set with platter, lid and ladle. The details on the handles are really pretty.  I love this piece, but I already have a few tureens, so I'll be selling it. Another stunning piece is this large compote.  It's chippy,  (read more …)

Stop the World & Ironstone Mugs

It's one of those times in my life when I wish I could just stop the world for about a week, so I can catch up on things that have been put on the back burner for days, weeks, months and even years.   I am on a tear to get things done. I have been organizing my way through the house and am making some real progress, so that's been encouraging.  I've also been getting caught up on e-mail, insurance  (read more …)

Latest Ironstone & Wooden Cheese Board

I have a bad habit.  Ironstone is my very favorite thing to collect and I'm much better at buying it than I am selling it.  Now, if you have shopped my tent at the Lucketts Market, you know that I do get rid of a lot, but I keep a lot, too.  I recently hit one of my favorite local shops at just the right time and bought a bunch of ironstone.  I'm selling a few pieces, but these are the ones I'm  (read more …)
