1/2 Bath Refresh

Well, today was yet another school snow day.  It was a really good day, though.  The boys played very well together and there was lots of laughing and toys everywhere and imaginative play.  In addition to it being a delight to listen to them play, it allowed me to get some things done.

I listed some more things in the online shop and packaged up most things that have sold to get ready for our shipping day tomorrow.  In addition, I played around in the house a bit.  I haven’t touched the half bathroom since I finished it a few years ago and I’ve been thinking it needed a little refresher.  I’ve been leaning pictures against the wall in there and planning things out in my head for weeks and I was finally inspired to work on it today.

Bathroom After (424x640)

Above is what it looked like when we finished the bathroom reno.  As a point of reference, this is what it looked like before the reno…

Here’s what I did to the back wall today…

Before it had a single picture and I swapped that out for a vignette.   The shelf had a tote with shells, an alarm clock and a few other things.  Now it has a row of ironstone milk pitchers.

The smaller shelves next to the radiator are basically the same, but I tidied them up a bit.

I hung some more antlers above the mirror and old pictures and ironstone on either side.  I’ll have to get a picture with a wide angle lens, but here’s a peek…

I kept everything else the same – the antique bucket as a waste basket…

…and the locker baskets on the wall to hold rolls of toilet paper and hand towels.

Jeff was a little skeptical about the antlers, but the way everything comes together in the room feels more intentional to me.  And it’s just a 4 x 8 half bathroom.  I feel like a small room is where you can be a little braver than usual.

  2. Love the new styling. I think it fills up the wall better and I like the display of ironstone milk pitchers.I think for the average person, we’d think of displaying collections in the main rooms however displaying it in the bathroom, seems like a decorating “step up”. I also think it’s nice that the ironstone collection now flows through the house….seems more cohesive for lack of a better word. The antlers looks nice in the bathroom; I’d have no clue where to purchase antlers, lol, although I have seen them in magazines. As usual, another gorgeous styling. Great job.
