Furniture Feature Friday – Favorites & a Link Party

Boy, oh boy.  You girls know how to make my heart go pitter-patter.  Some of the entries from last week…  my goodness.  I’ve said it a couple of times, but we…the furniture refinishers, antique dealers and thrift store scroungers…are making this economy hum.  I am always impressed by what I see each week, but this week gave me tingles.  There were some pieces I wanted to pluck through the screen and put in my house.  Thanks so much to all who shared and you have a lot to live up to this week!  :)

Barb Blair of Knack Studios is a very dear friend of mine, so when I saw this piece of “Knacktastic” furniture, I immediately knew it had Barb’s fingerprints on it…except it didn’t.  This piece is a miniature made for Barb by her friend Susan at Retro Restyling.  That’s right…this is a miniature!  I didn’t realize that until I read the full post.  Anyway, I thought it was fantastic and worth sharing.

Shari from Turnstyle Vogue shared this gorgeous Empire piece.  There is something about the warmth of the wood that is just amazing.  I’m smitten.

 Antique Chifferobe At Turnstyle Vogue

Chrystal (aka The Shabbiest Chick) found this beautiful piece of furniture and painted it in MMSMP and the result is this authentically chippy finish that looks original to the piece.  Of course, I love the milk paint, but this piece wears it so well.  (And this piece is for sale!)

Lastly, Anne from Fiona and Twig shares some beautiful photographs of stunning pieces imported from France.  If you struggle with Francophile-antique-envy, you might not want to click over.  I know it’s probably all waaaaay out of my price range, but I loved window shopping.

Here are the rules for our furniture get-together…

1.) Your post has to be about furniture. Please, please, please…just furniture. If you find your link has been deleted, it’s not because I’m mean, it’s because your post was not about furniture. You can share makeovers, awesome finds, favorite pieces, furniture arrangements, or even pieces on your wish list! Built-in furniture like kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities qualify as furniture.

2.) Post a permalink (the link to the post), not the link to your blog.

3.) This party will close Friday at midnight PST and I will choose my favorite(s) and feature their piece(s) on next week’s FFF.

  15. Hi! I’ve been reading your blog for a month or so and you have really inspired me! I started writing a blog about home decor and our 1831 farmhouse a little over 2 months ago. I just read your entry on how your book came about and read the article about losing and finding yourself. Just wanted to say it was lovely and touches a nerve. I’m a 40 year old SAHM of 4 boys, married 21 years. I’ve always been an obsessive decorator/shopper/reader of anything about design, and just now am I starting to see my self as actually “creating” something. Just wanted to share that <3 melissa

sorry, I’ve never tried this before, what exactly do I type in the field to attach a photo to the link? I’m lost. Thanks

  16. In a totally unrelated comment….YOU’RE COMING TO CANADA!!??!!! I saw a tentative date for ‘The Melon Patch’ in Bath, Ontario……ERMAGERD! That would be amazing!! I hope this becomes a ‘confirmed date!’ Keep us ‘northern neighbours’ posted!

  17. Oh my goodness, I just don’t even know what to say right now other than THANK YOU! These little pieces of restyled furniture for dollhouses are just a pleasure to create and it makes me very happy that you and Barb loved the buffet, bunting and tiny details I added to it all. (I shipped the little bunting to her as well, It’s seriously only like 6-8 inches long haha!) The little book cover for her new book just kills me too. I’m so glad it worked out right and it’s a perfect touch to celebrate her new book release! Barb has been an amazing friend and mentor for the past few years so it’s honestly the least I could do for her help and friendship. Thanks again for featuring the “Knacktastic” buffet!! xoxo

  18. Really you have great ideas and useful blog

  20. Oh my goodness, SO much beautiful inspiration here!

  21. I can’t believe that table was a miniature, and oh my….the French painting. Yes, some true French antiques around my home would make me a happy girl indeed. Thank goodness we can fake a few things!

  22. Zuffa Home is among leading online furniture retailers headquartered at Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

  23. Allison Barber says:

Thanks for sharing all that you do ~ huge fan! Inspired by you ~ I painted my breakfast room table base and chairs in ASCP Old White and stained the top walnut <3 . I need to put a finish on them, but cringe at the thought of waxing them. What else could I use? Please help!!!!

    • I would use an oil based poly on the top of the table to seal it from the elements of heat and to keep it from wearing over time. Oil based dries longer but it’s such a nice durable finish in the end. You could use a water base poly on the base of the table, or a wax… either works…

  24. The living room furniture sofa is always fun to scope out for new ideas. Thanks for making it happen!
