Furniture Feature Friday – Favorites & a Link Party

I’ve been hosting this party for over two years and have sometimes thought I should stop.  There are so many link parties out there now.  When I started this, mine was the only furniture party and now there are several.  Anytime I’m seriously thinking about it, though, something happens that changes my mind.  Last week at the book signing at Lucketts a sweet woman mentioned how much she loves this party and looks forward to it each week.  It’s hard to argue with that.  :)  Here are my favorites from last week…

I love everything about this dresser…the color, the finish, the birds, the knobs.  I think Rachel from Shades of Blue Interiors did an amazing job.

I think this old built in cabinet in the home of Jennifer from Town & Country Living.  The bead board and the latches are fantastic!

I’m not always going to feature milk paint pieces, but I absolutely loved this show-stopper by Scout & Nimble.  The white details, color and chippiness are perfect for this piece.

Here are the rules for our furniture get-together…

1.) Your post has to be about furniture. Please, please, please…just furniture. If you find your link has been deleted, it’s not because I’m mean, it’s because your post was not about furniture. You can share makeovers, awesome finds, favorite pieces, furniture arrangements, or even pieces on your wish list! Built-in furniture like kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities qualify as furniture.

2.) Post a permalink (the link to the post), not the link to your blog.

3.) This party will close Friday at midnight PST and I will choose my favorite(s) and feature their piece(s) on next week’s FFF.

Enjoy the party!

  2. Oh Marian! Please don’t stop with this party. I too look forward to it every week. I even have an alarm that sets off at 9″45 in my phone so I can come sit and hit refresh until the party is live. I would miss it so!
Thanks for hosting week after week!

  3. Thanks Marian! FINALLY got to link up my chairs that I asked you a few questions about 9 months ago-you helped me figure out some tufting and batting issues. I appreciate your advice and am reading your post about stripping your chairs right now as I am in the midst of stripping a loveseat. Worst job ever!

  4. I love your link party! The posts here are always a great inspiration. — Pauline

Thank you so much for hosting!! To tell you the truth I was so depressed last week when it did not appear so I went to the archives to review other parties. I just wanted to tell you how much your blog means to me and especially the furniture parties! You inspire me so much!!

I look forward each week and although I have several new items…I have not taken pics due to many family issues and getting ready for a show in out area….not a Lucketts event but we have out hopes to make it a hit someday….

  14. yes there may be “so many link parties” out there (too many???), but not a single one of these parties are YOURS! I personally enjoy this link party every week because I know I will find other blogger’s that have similar interests as my own, and that I will feel a connection to them because they too are a MMS follower!

  15. I’m French and love shabby chic. Just discovering the linking parties which does not exist in France, and happy that you go on !! so I enjoy to participate with my before after coat rack.

Sure there are other linky parties out there but you are light years ahead of all of them. I especially like that you are furniture specific and exclude recipes and crafts. Thank you so much for all of your hard work in providing this service. Last week, I had a mini-meltdown because I didn’t get my furniture feature fix. Thank goodness, you are back! BTW: I’m giving your book as Christmas presents.

  19. Great features Marian! Especially Jennifer’s built in cabinet! LOVE that! Thank you so much for hosting have a great weekend! Using your paint for the first time! LOVE that linen!

  20. Gillianne says:

Of all the link parties “out there,” this is the one I look forward to all week, hands down. Most others mix furniture with recipes and crafts. None of the others I’ve seen offer the quantity and quality of furniture DIYs showcased on your Friday feature. Please keep it up, IF you can. If you find that it becomes the one extra thing that’s just too much, we’ll all understand, though we’d be hugely sorry.

  21. Thanx for hosting Marian! I hope that you do not stop your party. I have been following it since it began and just love it!

  22. Thank you so much for hosting!!! I love this party and I’m always excited when I’m able to link a furniture piece up to it :)

  29. Marian, great idea for a furniture only linky party. Lovin’ many great entries!

  30. I agree! You should keep this furniture party going! I also wanted to let you know that my latest tutorial on how to make a vintage hand lettered sign was inspired by you! Thanks for your wonderful tutorials!

  31. Thank you so much for taking the time to hold this link up party every week! It is my absolute favorite and to be featured is ridiculous and such an honor! I’m thrilled!!! LOVE you and LOVE your paint!!!! It couldn’t be easier to use and the colors are so fab! Thank you!!! ;)

  32. Miss Mustard Seed : )
Your link party blesses my growing blog. 8 months old and you are one of my top traffic sources.
I feel like I “miss out” on the weeks I don’t have furniture projects to post.
BTW -I ordered my first Milk Paint this week! So exciting…my paint shopping was more exciting
than clothes or home decor shopping!
Thank you for all you do,
    Deb

    • Awesome awomsee awomsee! You out into words things I’ve been fighting for and defending but I would not have been able to word anything as well as you did in this piece. People fail to understand conditions of treaties and statutes such as the Indian act, and many choose not to read about it, themselves.Really glad you put this together

  33. linda miller says:

    OH DON”T STOP!
I probably should get a “life” but one of my most favorite things to do on Friday is to see all the creativity at your party! The other favorite thing to do is have a glass of wine while looking at all the pretty transformations and thinking that I could do that. (The wine makes me think this).

  34. Keep the link party please! There may be others out there….just like there are other brands of Milk Paint…but we want yours!!!!!!!! Thank you so much…love the inspiration and am very happy for your success.

  35. Angie McE says:

I too look forward to every Friday – I wait until everything is done, so I can relax and enjoy the party. I hope you will not take it away! Your Linky party is the only one I look at!

    Thank you!

  36. Beautiful, beautiful features!!! Have a wonderful weekend!!

  37. Your party is the best ever! I love to just look at past parties for great furniture ideas! Thanks so much for hosting it!

  38. Deborah Jennings says:

I know you are so busy. I know the feeling well. I own my own construction company and do high end remodeling as well as build custom homes. But your blog is my therapy for relaxation, inspiration, and enjoyment. I hope you don’t give up the furniture link party. I love seeing what others do and I get inspiration from them. My home is shabby chic and I love both the ASCP and Milk Paint. What would I do without your inspiration.

  39. Pinterest is changing and so have you. Yes, there are other women/men out there that can and will carry on if you decide to cut us loose, just please remember the people who have followed you and made you a great success. Yes, you worked hard, we all do, but with your statement which reflects exactly how you feel, I think it’s time you move on. Good luck.

  40. I was so excited that you are continuing your linky parties on Fridays! i went to link up a project I had done last month and I read your blog saying you were not doing it anymore and I was so sad – my husband had had back surgery in January and I haven’t been able to do a lot of refinishing until last month and wanted to share! So THANK YOU! Just love your furniture party on Fridays – I get so inspired every week!!

  41. I love joining up to this party and have even been featured by you a few times which means a lot. I find that many of the better projects find their way here and for other bloggers, this party seems to drive the most traffic. Thank you for being a lovely host.
I also wanted to say how wonderful your book is. It is definitely inspiring in the creative business category, which I hope to one day be more apart of.

  42. I really look forward to them as well. It’s a great way to find new blogs to read when I see pieces that match my tastes.

  43. Oh I agree with everyone else, please don’t stop doing FFF. Not only do we love seeing all the other projects people complete, it gives us a chance to become inspired, opens an opportunity to be seen in this wondrously wide world of decor blogs and it supports those of us who are out there striving to make a living off of this. Like that old saying goes, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” xoxox

  44. I almost had a small breakdown when you said you have thought about not having your Furniture Friday posts. I just recently found your site (I know, I’ve lived under a rock) and I look forward to checking out the posts every week. It’s always the place that I can to to get my creativity excited. So i, like the woman you met, hope that you continue with this linky party.
