Oreck VersaVac Giveaway!

***This giveaway is now closed****

I was initially contacted by Oreck late last year when they signed on as a sponsor and sent me my Steam It mop.  I’m sent a lot of things to test out and review and I can say honestly that the Steam It mop is my favorite and I use it all the time.  So, when Oreck asked to send me their new product, the VersaVac, which is a steam mop and vacuum in one, I was ready and willing to try it.

I must admit I was a bit skeptical when I first pulled it out of the box.  I immediately thought of a spork.  It doesn’t stab things as well as a fork and doesn’t hold as much as a spoon, but it can do both things okay.  My initial thought was, this machine is too small and too light to be able to steam and vacuum AND do both things well.  Well, I was wrong.  Unlike the spork, this vacuum/steamer (steamuum/vacmer?) did both things very well.

This one machine will vacuum hard surface floors and, with the turn of a dial, a brush roller is activated to clean carpets.  I can go straight from cleaning my carpets to steaming tile, sealed hardwoods or linoleum with the addition of a steamer pad and another turn of a dial.  Amazing.

All of the features are “push button” and easy to figure out.  I’m not big on reading manuals unless I have to (like with my camera.)  I prefer to figure things out on my own and I had the VersaVac humming within about 3 minutes of getting it out of the box.

One feature I love is that it is bagless.  When the debris chamber is full, you simply push a button, empty it, and then click it back into place.

The VesaVac comes with two pads that are machine washable.  They velcro to the bottom of the steam attachment and then the steam attachment clicks onto the vacuum.

A chamber on the front of the machine can be removed, taken to the tap and filled with water (and you can steam up to 30 minutes continuously!)

When you’re done steaming, press this pedal with your foot and the steamer attachment pops off.  You’re ready to vacuum again.

I think this is such a clever machine that I agreed to make a commercial for it!  (That’s why a camera crew came to my house and I’ll tell you more about it tomorrow.)

So, would you like to win the brand new VersaVac by Oreck?  I just happen to have one to give away!  Woohoo!!  Here’s what you have to do to enter to win…

Leave a comment at the bottom of this post telling me what feature you think you’d like most about the VersaVac.  That’s it!

You must be over the age of 18 and live in the continental US to be eligible to win this giveaway.  It will be open through Sunday, September  23, 2012, at midnight PST.  A winner will be randomly chosen and announced by Sunday, September 30, 2012.

Good luck!

I was compensated for this review, but all opinions are my own.

Our vacuum is broken right now except for the hose attachment so I have to crawl around on my hands and knees. To be able to vacuum and steam (standing up!) would be a dream come true!

I have an Oreck vacuum and love the lightness of it. I think the idea that the steamer can vacuum as well as clean flooring is fabulous.

I like the bagless feature the most also. Being able to switch between floor surfaces so easily is another great reason to use this machine. Thanks for the giveaway.

  3. Bagless. Floor to. Carpet. Steam to vacuum. I have been wanting a steamer for so long. Would be super excited to win.

  4. I’m not sure if I beat the deadline for this giveaway as I’m laying in my sons bed after reading him a book hours ago with no clock in sight and yes too tired to make it to my room just yet, however I would be absolutely Elated to win ANYTHING much less an Oreck vacuum!!!! I have owned many of their upright vacuums over the years & would never use anything but an Oreck!! I unfortunately have yet to use a steam mop of any kind only due to my recent financial situation, like many many others, but would absolutely love to own one as I have a house full of tile with 2 boys who love to keep me vacuuming/mopping! The thought of using steam with zero chemicals is exciting but even better than that the steam can also eliminate ecoli & other bacteria which I wouldn’t have thought of had I not read it earlier on one of your older blogs. Thanks for that tip! May the best “man/mom” win! :)

  5. The versa-vac sounds just too good to be true. As a senior I would welcome the good, the easy and the free would be out of this world and a great 60the wedding anniversary.

Blessings on them for giving this easy and helpful homemaker’s dream come true and to you for doing such great pictures for us to experience your joy of ownership.

It’s never too late to be a winner.

This vacuum is a much needed appliance in my home. I have two boys and one girl all under the age of 7, not to mention another little boy on the way. Vacuuming is a daily task in this house right along with brushing our teeth. The steamer would come in quite handy as you can imagine what amazing messes littles ones seem to make on the carpets. I would welcome anything that could possibly make life a little less chaotic around here!:)

I really like that you can go from steaming to vacccuuming with the push of a pedal. Thanks!

Never owned oreck but used one once and i am in love, like that this one is bagless and steam mop but little sceptical if it will work as great.

  11. I would love this vaccume! The one I currently own does not work well on hard surfaces so I would really enjoy that feature!! As well as the steam portion! Nothing like a nice clean floor!!!

  12. First off I want to say I love to follow your blog. Now to the issue at hand, I think that the feature I would love the most besides the versatility would be the steam mop. As a mom of a little one now a crawler I love the idea of being able to disinfect & clean my floors with steam, it’s an option that’s healthy for both my family & the environment. Hope to get to use this machine in my home.

I’ve always loved Oreck for it’s lightweight and good suction power. I think the VersaVac’s easy conversion from vacuum to steam cleaner is amazing. Got to be good if its an Oreck. I’d love to win one.

I just finished putting my wife through school. I pay for her school clean the floors break the vacuums. I am now down to a small pulled oreck vacuum and I have to change bags every two days it seems. I now have to go back to school and still do the floors I would really like steaming the hard floors vacuuming rugs and carpet without buying a new case of bags every week. And i’m tired of looking like the bad guy when people get my floor dirty and my back hurts bending over for the canister. I used to do physical labor. I had a little back accident though. Now its not terrible to bend over but bad enough I get grouchy even with friends messing the floor up. This sounds outstanding if its true. No bags lighter easier too maneuver? Pet hair kids dirt almost sounds too good to be true but my iron man oreck is what gets the house clean now as I drag it around the house. Add steam to that it sounds like a winner.

I have wanted an oreck vacuum since I got married almost thirty years ago. However, four kids, now three border collies later….still don’t have one. I have finally realized over the years that all the vacuums I received as gifts are horrible. Now i wish Santa had brought me a better gifts! LOL They work for a few months then constantly clog. I am disabled so I cannot work or believe me the versavac would be my first purchase with my first paycheck. I have been lucky to use friends orecks over the years so I m fully aware of the quality. Because I m disabled, physical energy is at a premium. The versavac sounds perfect because I can vacuum and steam floor at the same time…thereby allowing me to do a great job, get a really clean house without chemicals (my husband and 2 of four children are bad asthmatics so I try to avoid chemicals)…with three dogs the hair and mess…yikes. Also, the good job it would do and the time I would save would allow me to spend more time with my husband, four kids, and three dogs…and best of all I would have the energy!! Unlike most days I vacuum and mop I would not have to spend the rest of the day recuperating from exhaustion after vacuuming, mopping,…hope I am the lucky one…live at jersey shore and since sandy and Irene…I could use a great vacuum. Thanks for taking time to read my comment. Doreen

My wife has a degenerative back condition. So with the light weight of this machineand the eaze of switchingfrom carpet to steam cleaning bare floors what more could we ask for. I wouldove to thrill her with an oreck. She’s wanted one for years.mi

  17. Love the light weight and the steam features.

  18. Penny Newton says:

My mom has a oreck vacum cleaner so I know how well they work!!! I love all the features about this one!! Please let me win this!! My whole house and all of my friend’s house would be so clean!! Then I’ll bet they would want to buy one of these wonderful oreck cleaners as well!!!! Thank you Penny Newton

  19. I am disabled and it seems everytime i vacuum, i always leave some type of crumbs or lint or dirt or dog hair behind after i vacuum and have put it away. so when i start to mop, i have all this extra stuff stuck to my mop. yucky. so i go back and get the vacuum. and the cycle begins again. changing back and forth between the vacuum and the mop. its not only a frustrating hassle, but it is physically difficult , bulky and heavy for me to maneuver. i see that the oreck is lightweight… that would b so awesome to enjoy cleaning again, and to b able to do both at the same time would b an answer to a prayer. so, please put me in the drawing to win this amazing product. i will do u proud. thanks

  20. I would like to win the Oreck Versavac because I still clean my floors the old fashioned way, on my hands & knees. With a Siberian Husky & three kids & a husband who ALWAYS ” forget” to take their shoes off…well I am on my hands and knees alot.:-(
I am hopeful that this product will make my life easier & my floors cleaner, and my carpets too!

I came across this amazing machine while searching online for vacuum /steam mops, and it really caught my interest, but, sadly it is not available in Europe…not even in the UK, where Oreck has a representation! I live in Portugal, and would easily manage to get one from the UK, but no luck…I just hope Oreck wiil consider placing it in the european market(s) soon, I bet it will be a hit ! Maybe you could put in a good word for us europeans, we too deserve the chance to get our hands on some really good and easy to use piece of cleaning equipment. In fact, there’s nothing such like it here, the competition is no match to it, I have a steam vacuum cleaner, the Vaporetto Lecoaspira from Polti, and it is a pain in the *** to use! I for sure would buy a Versavac, and I bet many others would too, if it became available in Europe.
Perhaps you could put in a good word for us…?
    Sorry for imposing on you…

    Thank You,

    BlackCatLady, from Lisbon
