Furniture Feature Friday – Feature & Link Party

I’m so glad to report that I’m feeling much better. I still have staples that need to be removed early next week (ugh), but I’m able to do some cleaning and straightening up and I think I’ll be able to start painting, shopping, etc, next week.  I definitely don’t have the endurance I’m used to and I have to take breaks, but I can tell that things are going to get back to normal soon.

Another piece of good news is that my parents closed on their home in Florida today and a new house is being built for them just 10 minutes away from my home.  I am so excited about having them so close, so my boys can know their grandparents really well and my parents can help me with the business they encouraged me to start.    My mom and I won’t have to stuff three weeks of work into one when she visits.  Now we can pace ourselves. We probably won’t, but we can.  I’m also looking forward to simple things like meeting my mom for a bowl of cream of crab soup at Herr’s Tavern and taking the boys to the battlefield with my dad, so they can hear all about Pickett’s charge.  They’ll move here late this summer and I can’t wait!

I usually feature three different pieces of furniture, but I was so blown away by one room that I decided to do one big feature.  I’ve linked up pieces by Maple & Magnolia before.  I love her eye and her styling.  This room is right on par with the rest of her amazing work.

Last week she linked up her sleeping porch makeover…

…she was primarily sharing the bed, which is gorgeous.

Can you believe she got this at Salvation Army?  That bed at Salvation Army!!  I just want to run out to all Salvation Army stores within 60 miles to see if I can have that kind of luck!

The desk is also lovely…

…and the mirrored cupboard.

I basically just want this entire room.   And you know the best part?  This entire room was purchased at thrift stores, yard sales, flea markets, consignment shops and antique stores.  It’s just the latest awesome example that a beautiful space is found and created and doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

Here are the rules for our furniture get-together…

1.) Your post has to be about furniture. Please, please, please…just furniture. If you find your link has been deleted, it’s not because I’m mean, it’s because your post was not about furniture. You can share makeovers, awesome finds, favorite pieces, furniture arrangements, or even pieces on your wish list! Built-in furniture like kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities qualify as furniture.

2.) Post a permalink (the link to the post), not the link to your blog.

3.) This party will close Friday at midnight PST and I will choose my favorite(s) and feature their piece(s) on next week’s FFF.

Enjoy the party!

  8. Thanks for hosting such an awesome party …I always check it out even if I don’t have anything to contribute!! Which is why I’m commenting…I linked up a large chalkboard and wanted to make sure it was considered furniture. I started questioning myself (something I do frequently) after I linked in.
Let me know if it’s not OK and Thanks again!!

  17. One of the greatest gifts I feel I have in life is the fact that my mom lives close to me and we go shopping together every week. Seeing my kids love her ( and my dad) and get those special memories with them all the time is a pretty close second. So happy for you!!!

I just wanted to tell you “thanks”! Thanks for Furniture Friday, it is the highlight of my week. This morning my 8 year old, while rubbing sleep out of his eyes, said, “Mom, it’s Furniture Friday!” Even my kids know that Fridays are inspiration days for Mom. They start with a cup of tea, and rather than the usual rushing around to put everyone in their places for another day, I get to linger over Furniture Friday, savoring every link. And best of all, when the day is done I usually end up at my favorite thrift store loaded down with treasures and new ideas. By the time the kids are off the bus, I’m in the garage in my grubby jeans painting some new find. I can hear them coming down the driveway trying to guess what Mom has found on her “Furniture Friday”. So, for the lingering cup of tea, for the excitement in my kids’ voices, for the inspiration to take on yet another project, for finding a little sanity and beauty in a life that consists mostly of stuck on cherrios and dirty laundry…..Thanks!

  25. Marian, I cannot thank you enough for featuring my sleeping porch this week! So appreciative and humbled. Praying for your continued healing and excited for you to have your parents close by! Enjoy the weekend. :)

  26. Thank you for hosting. Glad you are getting some pep back, take it slow and easy.

  27. Linda says:

Glad you are feeling better! Super glad that your parents will live close to you! I know if my Mom was still alive we would be having a ball crafting, painting, DIYing together. Miss her so much.

  28. Karen says:

Hmmm…all the images to the FF links only appear as Xs on my screen – maybe only an issue with my laptop?

  29. Brenda Gist says:

Same issue as me–np pictures just xx’s–can’t wait to see the pics!!

  30. Miss Mustard Seed says:

I’m not sure what’s going on with the thumbnails. I am only seeing red “x’s” as well. I tried reinstalling the code and it’s still not working. Can anyone see the thumbnails?

  31. Ditto….can’t see thumbnails or link up, bummer….

  32. That’s so exciting about your parents moving closer! I’m sure they are excited to spend more time the boys (and you of course)!

My parents live about 2 hours away, so still pretty close, but I do wish I could see them a little more often. But I’m sure whenever I have kids they’ll move down to Phoenix. My mom wouldn’t be able to stand being away from the babies…she misses my dogs when she doesn’t see them for awhile! haha.

  33. How wonderful that your parents will be moving close by! It will be great for the adults, but it is your children that will reap the benefits and memories. My parents moved to our home for a number of years when my boys were 2 and newborn and the memories we made are irreplacable.

  34. Linky isn’t working and I wanted to link up. :(

  35. Oh my, could you imagine finding a bed frame like that at a Thrift Store, it’s GORGEOUS!

  36. Nicole says:

I’m glad you’re feeling better and happy that your parents are moving closer.

I can see why you would want to feature that room, it’s spectacular!! That bed alone made me swoon! If I had seen it at the S.A., I don’t care how much room I had or didn’t have at home, I would have lugged it home in my car that instant! Gorgeous!

  37. I tried linking up too all day Friday. Wasn’t working. couldn’t even see the thumbnail pics. It was the same on another bloggers linky too. Oh well, I’ll try next week.

  38. First, I am very happy that you are feeling so much better. As one who has had several surgeries over the years, I will say that you might not completely feel that you have your energy and stamina back for a good six months. I think that it might be the effect of the anesthesia, not sure, just that normal energy and stamina take a while.

Does the link always close on Friday night?

    Ellen

  39. Dawn Beaver says:

Oooh, beautiful! I would choose the Garden pillow in chartreuse or the blue toille pillow. Everything is just gorgeous!

  40. Dawn Beaver says:

Hope your recovery is going well! We missed you — but the post on the redo of the hospital room was hilarious!!

  41. YAY! ABOUT THE PARENTS, WHEN I WAS YOUNG I MOVED AWAY FROM MINE, BUT A FEW YEARS AGO, THEY BOUGHT A CHURCH TO RENOVATE INTO A HOME NEAR ME. I DIDN’T KNOW HOW MUCH I MISSED MY MOTHER UNTIL SHE MOVED CLOSER. AS FOR BEING MEAN, IT IS A FURNITURE LINKY PARTY. GLAD YOU ARE FEELING BETTER.
