Furniture Feature Friday – Favorites & a Link Party

Thanks to everyone who showed up for the party last week when I was a day late!  I’ve been a little out of sorts lately and even more so now with the news I got yesterday.  Ugh.  I appreciate all of the encouragement, words of wisdom and prayers.  I’ve been a very good girl and rested today.  I do have a few small projects I need to complete before my surgery on Tuesday, so I’ll chip away at those when I feel up to it.

One benefit of rest is I got to take my time looking at the FFF entries from last week.  Here are a couple of my favorites…

Dixie Delights had this lovely chair for about ten years before she finally had it recovered in this gorgeous white fabric with a custom monogram.  It’s just perfection.  It may have taken ten years, but this one was well worth the wait.

Amy from Whisper Wood Cottage is such a clever girl and she finds the best stuff.  (I think I’ve threatened robbery before…)  She turned an antique medicine cabinet into a vanity area and is using a bunsen burner stand to hold her necklances.  I told you…clever girl.

Here are the rules for our furniture get-together…

1.) Your post has to be about furniture. Please, please, please…just furniture. If you find your link has been deleted, it’s not because I’m mean, it’s because your post was not about furniture. You can share makeovers, awesome finds, favorite pieces, furniture arrangements, or even pieces on your wish list! Built-in furniture like kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities qualify as furniture.

2.) Post a permalink (the link to the post), not the link to your blog.

3.) This party will close Friday at midnight PST and I will choose my favorite(s) and feature their piece(s) on next week’s FFF.

Enjoy the party!

  5. Marian, I am so sorry you have to have surgery! :( I hope you will recover quickly. I know it will be hard to sit and rest and not get chomping at those projects, but maybe it will afford you some time to be creative and plan! (silver lining, right??)
Thanks for hosting, praying everything goes smoothly on Tuesday.

  6. I remember than when I started being a nurse in the 1970’s the folks having gall bladder surgery stayed in the hospital almost two weeks because the surgeons had to make a big incision. Thank goodness for new and improved surgical procedures…I’m so glad that you won’t have to be in the hospital long. That is so scary what you went through in the ER. I had a similar situation (but with my head) a couple of years ago…going to ER in the middle of the night…they found that I had a brain tumor…they think it is benign and it has not been bothering me at all since that night. I know you are relieved that you dont’ have a book deadline looming with surgery next week. We can’t wait for your book to be published.

  8. hi Marian – glad you are getting a chance to rest. I’ve linked up a $1300 ten arm chandelier I was given for free! Not sure if you’ll class it as furniture but it definitely is worth sharing. Feeling very lucky.
take it easy over the weekend and don’t push yourself on those projects
    cheers Fiona

  11. I am so sorry, about you needing surgery, I am praying for you. I have enjoyed your blog so much, I just started one and I hope some day to be apart of a link party such as your FFF, but I just do not know how to enter. In future and should I learn how to join in link parties will a file cabinet qualify? Thank you & Many Blessings~

  12. Yes Amy’s cabinet is awesome isn’t it. I linked up two projects because I had forgotten to link up my maid’s closet last week. Ha so you don’t see me at your party for months/years and so I am linking up double.
Thanks for hosting and showcasing so many beautiful projects. Hope you are feeling well.

  13. Oh I love that medicine cabinet makeover!! That is so cool!

  14. I hope you recover quickly. I had some gallbladder attacks for several months but did not know what it was. The one that sent me to the hospital did not stop. I had emergency surgery on a Saturday and can honestly say I hurt less when I woke up than I did before I went to surgery.

    Good luck.

  15. Thanks for hosting Marian. I hope linking a mirror is okay. If not just delete it. I see you have a couple of links before me that have nothing to do with furniture. Always wonder what people are thinking.

  16. {please delete #146 {{very embarassed}} pre-dawn multitasking was a bad idea}

  21. Thanks for hosting — such bravery in the face of gallstones.

I had that too, about 15 years ago, and the surgery is so much more simple than way back when it happened to my mother. I think she was in the hospital for three weeks back then! You just have to take it easy for a few days. You cannot even see any scars from those tiny incisions they made on me, whereas my poor mother’s tummy looked like train tracks everywhere! You will feel so much better you won’t even believe it. I’ll keep you in my thoughts.

  22. Margaret says:

Get a second opinion before the surgery. I would opt to try using Bile Salts before having the surgery, as some people still experience problems after gallbladder removal due to digestion issues.

Just my opinion, no affiliation with any doctors, products, etc.

  23. Thanks for hosting such a great party.

  24. colleen says:

well good luck on Tues it will be ok you will prob end up with 4-6 lap sites tiny incisions. Many folks do has issues with fatty foods after this surgery others not so much. like i said before let your body tell you when to increase activity usually after a couple weeks is all. hugs your way

  27. Denise says:

Marian, forgive me ! I am still a blog rookie!! I want to link one of my favorite furniture, Victorian Walnut dresser – I have a dilemma: I am having a hard time deciding whether I should have it painted in white or not. Well, back to this subject, as for thumbnail link, I realize that I need to have my own web link or blog link, is that correct?

Take a good rest and enjoy reading these magazines you just bought.

  28. Thanks for hosting. Take care of yourself.

  29. Wishing you a speedy recovery! My thoughts and prayers are with you all. So glad you finished your book already….. Can’t wait to see it in print. God is good all the time!!!

I am praying for you. I was about your age when it happened to me. The surgery was easy, I had it laposcopyed or something like that!!! You will be feeling so much better afterwards. I didnt know how bad I was feeling until after the surgery and I felt great. They gave me my stones in a bottle and I could have made earrings from them, they looked like moon rocks !!! You will do great, but listen to your Dr. and dont overdo!!!! God Bless you.

  31. What a fun surprise to find my cabinet idea featured! Thanks, Marian!!

  32. First off, I’ll apologize for my terrible effort to link my pictures to your post. I’m so new at this and not very good. I just really wanted to share with you, that I was so inspired by your Union Jack dresser, that I created a dresser for my sons with the Scottish Flag. I wanted to do something from our family heritage. I thought it turned out great, and just wanted to thank you for all the inspiration that I get from your site.

  33. I love this Chair..Thanks Marian!
