just my type

Excuse the pun.

Those who “know” me, know that I have a soft spot for typewriters.  I usually go for the really old Underwoods and Coronas, but while I was at the furniture shop last week, this little guy caught my eye.

The color is so pretty, isn’t it?  I haven’t restocked my space at Lucketts since Christmas (Thanks Karen!), so I’m starting to make a pile of new things to take in a couple of weeks.  This is going on the pile.

The winner of the $100 Antique Farmhouse giveaway is Jen (crazicrafter), which is so funny because she proclaimed in her comment that she has no luck.  Well, your “luck” has turned.  Congratulations!

Sweet. Can you just imagine the letters that were drafted on this beauty? I still love the sound of older machines; I think it reminds me of a simpler time in my youth.

:) I just bought my first Underwood typewriter a couple weeks ago- also going to my booth. Do you know where I need to look to find the serial number? I’m trying to date it…

  10. Denise says:

….as in, find the date. I’m married. I don’t need any dates. Ha ha!

  11. I don’t know that I could ever collect typerwriters of any sort after my hate-affair with them in college. Oh, the white out. But this one’s color and name and look makes me reconsider…for a brief second. :) We suffered when we went to college. :)

When I was a girl….a very, very long time ago….I received a Tom Thumb typewriter for Christmas and I loved it! My great aunt was a secretary and I thought typing was just the most amazing thing. It was lovely seeing your treasure and being reminded of my childhood.

OMG! I had that sme typewriter, but in pink, as a child! Thanks for the memories. I can still, so vividly, remember the textured finish of that beauty! Who knew typewriters would become almost extinct- how lucky for you that you found this!(My 20 year old daughter, when she was a child learning about computer keyboarding in school- came home from school talking about a ‘typer’- didn’t even know what it was!) I find myself wondering who used it? what words did it create? the stories it told? Lovely!

What a great piece! I think you should share the “pile” with us before you take it away. You may just end up having to restock before you restock, though.:)

    Very cool item!
I’ve sold a few cool old typewriters on Etsy. Some couples have used them as a novel (pun intended) approach to the wedding guest book.

Here’s one in my shop now. http://www.etsy.com/listing/73843790/royal-typewriter-royalite-holland-sleek?ga_search_query=typewriter&ga_search_type=user_shop_ttt_id_5556085

Will you be restocking your Luckett’s space before the Groundhog’s Day Sale this weekend? I first discovered you this time last year at the sale … and cannot wait to go this weekend!

  28. Susie says:

You know, I think I might have my Grandfathers old punch-key black typewriter tucked somewhere in my garage, never thought of it’s “display” factor, I’m going to pull that baby out! I’m really not clueless, the west coast just decorates and looks at “things and objects” differently than you easterners, how lucky you are! I’m very into appreciating older, charming antiques of relatives and items of their era, but I’m few and far between out here, thanks for the lightbulb!

  29. Looks just like a typewriter that my grandmother gave me as a kid. Love the color!

  30. Very pretty color, indeed. I think it’s cool that someone smitten with old typewriters would end up having a successful blog and a book deal. You would have definitely used the heck out of it back in the day. ;)

  31. Sandi says:

    LOVe the typewriter.
So Beautiful in all it’s Glory!

  32. Janice says:

I had a Tom Thumb typewriter growing up, the same color, and I used that typewriter to type my term papers in high school, (using carbon paper with the ‘special’ eraser, for multiple copies). Oh how I remember my late nights with Tom…..(funny side note: my first husband was named Tom and both my daughters married a Tom!)

  33. Sher says:

Oooh, so coveting that typewriter, I dig them too. And I’m crazy about anything in aquas & turquoise color.

  34. Jeannie-JB says:

Fabulous! Love the color and the name. Great find!
