Furniture Feature Friday – Favorites & Link Party

Today I took a break from the freelance projects and photo shoots and went out Christmas shopping with my husband.  It was a nice time, just shopping for our boys and eating lunch at Olive Garden, our favorite restaurant.  We did do some work together, though.  He read over the first chapter of my book and gave me a couple of notes (he’s quite the grammarian) and we did some brain storming about future video tutorials and series for my blog.  I’m so blessed to have people around me who are so supportive.

Anyway, this will be the last regular FFF for the year.  I will post FFF next week, but it will be a little different.  I’ll keep it open for a week and it will be open to link up your favorite furniture projects, makeovers and finds from all of 2011.  Now, I realize this is dangerous to do, but I’m trusting everyone that they’ll just link up a few of their favorites and not spam the party with every stick of furniture ever posted on their blog this year.  Can we all agree to that?  So it’s just the best of the best?  OK, deal.

Now to this party…here are my favorites from last week…

I must admit a little envy bubbled up inside me when I read that Britt from Interestocity snatched up these chairs for $10 each at a thrift store.  I tell you…I would take someone down for those chairs.  It would be ugly.  Children would cry.   And I’m sure I would end up in jail.  Yeah…it’s a good thing I wasn’t there.  Way to go Britt.  You’re a better woman than I am for buying those without incident.  I can’t wait to see what you do with them.

Jilly of Jilly & Mia put together this awesome bookcase/divider to make an unused living/dining room combo into two separate functional rooms.  (Her office is on the other side of the bookcase.)  Clever, right?  And her styling is flawless.  It totally looks like a magazine shoot.

Deana of Alchemy Fine Living welcomed this 1970′s dresser into the new millenium with a fresh coat of paint (and the help of her grandfather.)  I love the pop of color in the detail of the drawers and how it makes the piece look surprisingly classic and even modern.

Enjoy the party!

Here are the rules for our furniture get-together…

1.) Your post has to be about furniture. Please, please, please…just furniture. If you find your link has been deleted, it’s not because I’m mean, it’s because your post was not about furniture. You can share makeovers, awesome finds, favorite pieces, furniture arrangements, or even pieces on your wish list! Built-in furniture like kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities qualify as furniture.

2.) Post a permalink (the link to the post), not the link to your blog.

3.) This party will close Saturday at midnight PST and I will choose my favorite(s) and feature their piece(s) on next week’s FFF.

  22. amy says:

oh, suzanne, i’m just making up for all the cookie dough i’ve been licking off my fingers.

perhaps marian is busy watching that new flat screen tv and doesn’t smell the burning cookies nor hear us whispering in the wind….

  23. whycuzican says:

OK, more hot choc being made (and cookies didn’t burn). Hope Marian doesn’t mind I ‘jacked’ her pretty kitchen.

Love the new big TV but actually I MISS the fireplace. Oh well, I ADORE her house!

BTW, Miss Marian, I can’t find fat-free marshmellows! Full flavored ok?

Help yourself, and remember to use coasters folks!

I’ll be in the Blog Squad powder room peeking around at the nice new baseboard!

    Smiles, Suzanne

    • Miss Mustard Seed says:

You are so funny. I love fireplaces usually, but this one was ugly and we didn’t turn it on once in five years. It really looked better in photos than it did in person, so I don’t miss it one bit!

      • whycuzican says:

HI Marian! Nice to see you. You said in your post it was nicer in photos. (I trust your judgement) I have ALWAYS wanted a fireplace– it’s a kid-thing I think.

Hope you don’t mind I “jacked” the party while you were working.

Your guests are very nice (fans) and soooo helpful. I caught two of them doing dishes. We even used some of your pretty serving pieces. (Ironstone)

Oh, your youngest son (banchee, isn’t that what you call him in your videos?) stopped by and I gave him a cookie and milk and he headed back to bed.

        Sorry for waking him!
        Smiles, Suzanne
(BTW, the glitter letters you sold me and mailed to me for hub’s project was a HUGE hit for our recently wedding anniverary. He was SHOCKED because I taped your biz card on the back! He thought I was “gusty” for writing asking you to sell me some)

  24. HouseTalkN says:

I think we have started a new kind of par-taaay. The virtual “cocktail party before the link party!”

  25. Oh Mariaaaaaan… where are you??? All your friends are here, come out and play:)

  26. amy says:

three quarts of chalk paint, jessica? did you paint your house??

  27. @ Jessica…3 quarts of ASCP!!!! Holy Cow…what did you paint????

    janet xox

  28. amy says:

hmmm… you’re really pushing those coasters, suzanne. are those the ones you mod podged with photos of your finished projects and sent marian as an early christmas gift? ;)

  29. Miss Mustard Seed says:

LOL…you girls are a riot! Maybe we need to have a chat some time! Anyway, I was looking at Craig’s List and didn’t realize the code had disappeared from my post. I don’t know why that happens with WP, but I’ve had trouble with that since moving. The party is up now, so link away. I’m glad you had a good time in my absense. :)

  30. karin says:

I guess me threatening to sing got her to hurry up and fix the link..LOL…:)

  31. You guys are too funny!

  32. whycuzican says:

Goodness, three quarts?? Goodness you must have quiet a piece now!

Hope you didn’t have to mortgage the house to the hilt!

BTW, hubby is asking “How many at MMS party yet” and I just yelled back “The linky tools were just fixed, we’ve been visiting and having a party in cyberspace— go get some more ice for us and more skim milk please” and he was laughing!!!

Congrats on the linky tools back online!

    Dying to see everyone’s goodies!

Cookie dough (4 kinds) available, and a plate or two still on the counters- help yourself.

    Smiles,
    Suzanne

  33. antiquechase says:

I linked but it didn’t show… maybe it’s thinking about it.. lol

  34. whycuzican says:

BTW, special request for Chai Tea (in email) from Karin so– help yourself– I wouldn’t be much of a hostess standby without some nice chai tea— good idea!

  35. whycuzican says:

I’m nearly ashamed to say, that I didn’t have a new piece this week to offer, but a neat piece I did earlier this year that I love and hubby still talks about (Sheet Music Bookshelf)…. where did I get the original idea to mod podge sheet music?

Where else, here at MISS MUSTARD SEED’s! (aka: party central!)

    ~Suz

I don’t have a website but I do work at Pikes Peak Habitat ReStore and have been repurposing many items. This was once an ugly upper kitchen cabinet that I’ve turn into a wonderful bench for a mud room or any room. I hope you are able to see it You’ll see the before pictures on our store’s FB page.

    Thanks for the great ideas.
