Family Room Decorations

I’m still working on my Christmas decor, but here is what I’m up to in my family room…

It’s a bit more casual than the living and dining rooms, but it still has a predominantly blue and green color scheme.  I swapped out the brown and cream, though, for red and white, so it’s a bit more playful.

We ripped out our fireplace recently to make way for a flat screen TV, so we hung our stockings on a pair of shutters that flank a window.

I haven’t gotten much done the past couple of days, because we have been watching my boy’s Christmas plays and spending some time with my parents, but we’re getting down to business tomorrow.  My mom and I are going to knock out a big shopping list, my dad is going to put drywall over a doorway and my husband is getting the workshop squared away to finish our built-ins and some other projects.  It’s craziness.  Plus I have a huge pile of presents to wrap, fruit salad to make, steak to marinate…

…it’s the most wonderful time of the year.

Merry Christmas to you and your family…I read in a previous post that you removed/covered up a fireplace to replace it with a flat screen tv? was that a working or fake fireplace? If working, why didn’t you just repace the mantel and surround to something to your liking and mount the tv over? Covering over a working fireplace in a family room wouldn’t make a lot of sense to most people…however, if it was fake, I could understand, altho from the opening left, I would assume it was at least gas, which also could be updated and enhanced into a great focal point in a room…at least from a design point of view…much nicer than a flat screen tv. Maybe I missed something from your posts explaining? Love to hear from you, Gayle

Beautifully understated, calm yet magical, both organic AND sparkly! Especially love the stockings ~ were they another antique linen or feedsack creation? They look so fresh & clean.
(Caveat Emptor: I’ve had an “off” feeling all week about the stark white bedroom paint. Too cold for winter, perhaps? Hope I’m wrong!)
