back online & a photo shoot

Boy, I have really missed having internet over the weekend. I had plenty to keep myself busy, but it was such a bummer not being able to post or check my e-mail.  It’s such an outlet for me and it was tough not having it.  Anyway, we got a new router today and we are back online!  Technology is such a blessing!

We’re getting ready to go to Raleigh, NC for Thanksgiving, so I had several things I needed to finish before we leave.  Aside from the usual things…laundry, packing, cleaning a little, etc., I needed to do a project and photo shoot for the February issue of Cottages & Bungalows magazine.  The project was for a bedroom, so I restyled my guest room for the shoot.  It was amazing how different the room looks just by changing out some of the pillows, fabrics and accessories.   Here are some pictures from the shoot…

Those of you who are scared of sewing are going to love the project featured in this issue.

Next Saturday, I am going to hit the flea market and some of my favorite antique shops in Raleigh, NC, so let me know if you’re in that area and would like to come along (or know of a good place.)  I’m meeting up with a few other bloggers/readers and it should be a great time. Send me an e-mail if you’re interested in joining us.

Just know that I will take you down for a well-priced piece of ironstone, so come if you dare.

I live in Raleigh (right off of Wade Avenue). I moved here 3 years ago from Atlanta, to be closer to family, my parents live in Chapel Hill. There are no diamonds in the rough in actual Raleigh. However in Burlington, which is about 40 minutes from Raleigh, there is an amazing antique mall called “Granddaddy’s Antique Mall”. In about an hour or two my mom and me are going to The Mill at Gibsonville, which is basically in Burlington, to pick up our order of chalk paint. We will also be stoping at Granddaddy’s Antique Mall and would LOVE to shop around with you (were only like your biggest fans)!

  5. I’m probably too late to the party, but I’m just now seeing this! You’re in my hometown! Would love to catch up with you if you’re still in the area. We just got floors! (well… for part of the house) Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving! Can’t wait to hear what your new opportunity is about.

  6. i know this post is older now, but i second that mention of suzanna’s/vintage village in raleigh, & there is a similar, smaller place called sweetpea’s garden & antiques in wake forest, about 15 minutes north on capital blvd from raleigh. i’m a raleigh native living in wake forest & love it! lots of cute places here, i rarely drive all the way downtown for the flea market.
