One of my new readers left me a comment on the post about my office that shared a ribbon storage idea. She thought I might like it. She was right and I was inspired to store my ribbons the same way. This clever idea was found at Inspired Apertrey Ink, a beautiful stamping and scrapbook site.

I had the spools of ribbon…
I had vintage clothespins that have been sitting in my basement for 3 years…
About an hour later, I had all of my ribbon neatly wrapped around each clothespin and inside the penny candy jar. Isn’t this a great idea? It is such a space saver as well. I fit about 25-30 spools of ribbon in the jar and it’s only half full. I do not recommend this storage technique if you have a large volume of one ribbon (10+ yards) or if the ribbon is really wide. It gets to the point that you can’t even see the clothespin any longer. Those are better left on the spool.
I love how the ribbon looks almost like candy in the jar.
It also keeps the ribbon at an easier reach than it was in the closet. The person who made the suggestion does not have a blog, so I couldn’t give a her a shout out, but you know who you are. Thanks!
I also got a lot of work done in my basement and workshop yesterday. I cleaned out my spray booth and started to rearrange my storage and work areas. I put the first coat of poly on my French Provincial Craig’s List dresser top and the final coat of Sherwin William’s Creamy on the body. Here’s a sneak peak for you…
I am more in love with it every time I work on it. This thing is a beast, though, and is taking me a long time. I still have about a billion (ok…twelve) drawers to paint, but it’s getting there.
Just to keep things exciting, I cut the tip of my finger off with a pair of scissors yesterday! Don’t worry, the bone is still intact, I just cut off the padded part, but it bled like crazy and really hurt. I am so accident prone. I’ve got a Snoopy band aid and some Neosporin on it now, so I’m ready to go. (I wonder if it will grow back…?)
The only thing I had to purchase was a gallon sized glass jar with an aluminum lid and I found one at Wal-Mart for $6.00.

Ouch!! That sounds painful!! Hope it heals quickly.
I love that idea for the ribbon. I thought I had all my ribbon organized and then of course I buy more and more ribbon and it's getting totally out of hand. I have the perfect jar for this (found it at a thrift store of course), now I just need some clothespins…a quick call to my mom will probably solve that problem.
Take care of that finger.
Jane
Oooooh, that has to hurt {I'm wincing for you}! That is a lot of drawers to paint but the sneak peek looks wonderful. I like the idea of ribbons in glass myself. I have some pieces that are "scrap" that need a place like that.
Oh my gosh, your poor finger! I am cringing just thinking about that! See, that's me in the kitchen: burns, stab wounds, etc. Sigh.
That ribbon trick is CUTE by the way.
Owie! That sounds like it hurt!…but I like the snoopy band-aid!
I really like the ribbon storage idea…and I just might have to steal it! I have a drawer full of ribbon, but it is so unorganized and tough to find what I want when I want it!
Hope your finger heals quickly! Don't cut any lemons for a while!

Sorry to hear about your finger. However, just love the bandaid! I also love the ribbon idea! Anything to make things more organized and pretty…. Dee Dee
OUCH!!!! Great idea for the ribbon!
Love the ribbon idea – if I used ribbon it would be a fun thing to do – perhaps I can think of something else to wrap around the clothespins
.

I LOVE the ribbon storage idea! I have tons of small stripps of ribbon that are just in a big basket getting tangled. I'm using this idea for sure. Now I just need to find the clothespins.
WOW!! You are a true DIY warrior.
hope the finger heals quickly. Can't wait to see that dresser completed. I am sure it will look gorgeous!!
Owww!!!

ps Fun idea! I use old fashioned candy canisters for all sorts of things…but have been wondering what to do with my old clothes pins. : )
Love the ribbon idea! The teaser shot of the dresser looks great, can't wait to see it finished!
I really like your clothespin idea. I guess I have 2 billion drawers to paint. I'm painting my bedroom set, and counted 20 drawers! I never knew I had 20 drawers until I primed them today. Hope your finger heals fast. Rosie
Love this idea. Laura
Owwie…I hope your finger heals!
Great idea for the ribbon!~Lisa
Love the ribbon idea!! I'm always looking for ways to store things that are pretty enough to keep out in the open. Great idea! Can't wait to see how your dresser turns out. I'm going through the same thing with a Goodwill buffet table…it's taking me forever, but it is truely a labor of love. Hope your finger feels better!
I love the ribbon storage idea! I want to try that one. Sorry about your finger. That sounds like something I would do. I am so accident prone. Can't wait to see the French provincial project finished. I have a whole bedroom suite that needs to be re-done. Maybe you will inspire me to do my set. Happy Thanksgiving. Love & blessings from NC!
What a great idea!
great idea for ribbon storage, and it is darling as well.
Sorry about your mishap. Hope it grows back.
Love the storage for ribbon. As a former Scrapbooker, I've seen this. It makes for cute eye candy! Glad someone suggested it to you.
I love the idea of displaying ribbon. It looks so cute.
AHHHH!!! That is such a great idea and looks SO good! Right now my ribbons are stuffed into an old Huggies wipes dispencer…but yeah…not the same…I'm definitely going to have to show off my ribbons 'n things once I move =)
Yep, totally stealing this idea for ribbon. Mine are currently stuffed into old shoe boxes!
Sorry bout your finger…owie!!!
Thanks for linking up, dear

Sorry about your finger!! That must've hurt something dreadful! Love the ribbon-organization craft. Very pretty.
The clothespins are beautiful. I might eventually get to use a beautiful jar, but at the moment my three year old would make quick work of destroying it. Until then, I'm working with this…

Yikes, I hope it grows back too, like a lizards tail LOL!
I wish I could show you my glue gun burn, I dropped what I was glueing and tried to grab it and scalded myself in the process, it left some pretty nasty blisters.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Dena
Finally finished my ribbon storage, inspired by you! Thanks!
