Oldies, But Goodies

Ok, so I’ve got nothin‘ for you today. I have a lot of things primed in the spray booth and things that are in the works, so I will have some great after picture for you very soon! Since I didn’t have anything new, I wanted to share a couple of pieces I completed this summer. I’ve received a ton of compliments on this dresser and I received the highest compliment of all – it sold very fast. I purchased this at an auction for $45.00. That’s a little more than I normally pay, but I loved the shape and it was in great condition. It just needed a fresh coat of paint and some new hardware. The decorative painting was inspired by a painted buffet in a magazine ad that I clipped out a few years ago. Unfortunately, I completed this piece pre-blog, so I did not take a before picture. Just picture it a dingy cream color with brass hardware. This dresser deserved better.

I also bought this headboard at an auction for $1.00. It was just a dark wood. Not bad, but nothing special. I fell in love with the way the dresser turned out, so I painted the headboard to match. I think this would look so charming in a young girl’s room or a guest room.
I think it was $1.00 well spent, don’t you?
I’m posting this to Show & Tell Friday at My Romantic Home. Make sure you check it out!

  1. I loved seeing these ~ I like how you did them so that they would match. The dresser has some great detail, which I'm sure was lost "before". I'd love to find a headboard for $1.00! I'd love to find a Queen headboard for under $100.00!

You're up tomorrow in the 5 Things feature! : ) I've got it scheduled to post at 12:05 a.m. {a little under 2 hours from now ~ just in case you're up then}.

  2. You are an amazing artist/painter! I loved the dresser and headboard. I am anxious to read more of your past posts and get some tips on refinishing old pieces of furniture. I have several things I am interested in refinishing. I love flea markets/yard sales/GoodWill. I have been through Gettysburg on many occasions traveling to and from the Amish Country in Lancaster. Beautiful area of the country!! I'm glad I found your blog. Love & blessings from NC!
