Saturday Morning Finds!

Well, I headed out this morning…it was gray and chilly, so I didn’t have high hopes. Today was a good reminder to me that you just never know what treasures you’re going to find when you head out on a Saturday morning. I didn’t actually find the dresser this morning, but it was an $8.00 auction find from 2 weeks ago. It’s been sitting in my living room, so I thought I would show it as well. The veneer is bubbled on the top and it needs some work, but it is bird’s eye maple. I loved it…and for $8.00, sold.

I found 2 cheap-o silver trays for $1.00. I’m planning to paint it cream and then paint the center like a chalk board. I’ve seen that idea in a few places and it’s so cute! Next to those is a mirrored vanity tray that was $1.50. I’m going to spray the frame a pretty color and clean it up.
This mirror was $5.00 and I can’t wait to work on it. It’s a heavy plastic, but looks very substantial. I think I’m going to spray it white or some fun color.

I was so excited about this concave mirror. I’ve always wanted one, but they’re so expensive! This one was $3.00…(I’ll take that, thank you), but the secret is it’s resin, not wood. Once it’s painted, no one will ever know. Should I go oil rubbed bronze or white?

I got two of these twig wreaths, one large and one small, both for $5.00.

This small crate was $2.00. It’s a prefect little storage box and I love the writing on it.

And here’s my headless goose. Ha! My husband must have thought I was crazy for bringing this back to the car. “You can you fix this, right?” It was hand carved by a man from Gettysburg who fashioned birds out of pieces of wood he’d find in his yard. And yes, I actually paid for a headless goose…a whole quarter. I’ll show you these when I finish them!

  4. Great finds! If it were mine (I have a vintage 1940's bull's eye mirror replica which is gold) I'd go with the oil rubbed bronze look…unless you want to be a bit more avant garde with the white. Ooh..that blue and white side table is cute! (it's showing right next to the comment box!)
