When picking up a piece of furniture from one of my clients, they asked if I would paint a few other pieces for them. When I completed and dropped off the first piece (a white side table with a hand painted Delft handle), they showed me a cabinet and this shutter. Cabinet, no problem. You want me to paint the shutter? Really? What a great idea! I love it! It looked cool as it was, but the paint was pealing and left a trail. Definitely not safe to have hanging above a bed and the color wasn’t right for the crisp blue & white style in their weekend home. As you can see, this shutter needed a lot of cleaning. First, I scraped off all of the loose paint with a paint scraper. I then sanded and brushed the piece. This was very time consuming, but necessary.
